Does any one know , how long a standard LAN cable can be. I want to create a network b/w 2 PC s in 2 rooms about 6-8 metres apart.

I beleive you can setup network without any issues. Ethernet cables support much longer distances between endpoints...

You can go upto 100m,Longer the caber lesser will be the signal quality
