Laptop for 50K

Dell Studio 15 or Dell XPS if you can stretch your budget a little.

XPS for "Just emails, chats and browsing...Nothing rigorous"?
Studio 15 is a good choice...

ah. sorry missed it. If it's for a girl and for browsing, here's the perfect one:

VGN-CS25GN/B

2.6 kg (including the supplied battery)
335.8 x 29-39.8 x 245 mm
comes with Vista Business and you also get one Windows XP Professional CD.
core2duo P8600 (2.40 GHz)
1066 MHz FSB
2gig ram
250gig hdd

Price: 50k-54k (depends on how you bargain).

ive seen some girly VAIO's...in pink and green etc.
are they any good?they fall in this price range too...

yep. they are good and perfect for girls. Slim and light. Don't expect gaming on these. Purely for girly usage

Can you recommend something light from compaq, HP or Lenovo or sony??

check post #4. 2.5kg including battery.

Dell Studio 15, on the dell site the config given for 47900 excluding taxes is better IMO, weighed around 2.5Kg, has options of choosing color. For girls certainly its red or green from the available colors.
