1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
30k-42k

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
Better if it'd be either of the two:
Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

3) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Like: ASUS, DELL, HP, Lenovo (Descending order in preference)

4) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Entertainment, programming/benchmarking/multi-tasking

5) What screen resolution(s) & type (glossy/matte) would you prefer?
A glossy type would be good.

6) Anything else you would like to say? (eg: local purchase, ASS,matte/glossy finish)
Need not necessarily be preinstalled with Win7, Linux preferable or even free DOS.
Intel 3rd gen would be good.
RAM 3+GB(atleast a slot free for extension a must)
DVD-RW speed a min of 8x
Atleast 1 USB 3.0 port

[EDIT]

My choices i've finalized:
Lenovo Essential G Series G580 (59-324061) Laptop 3rd Gen Ci5/4GB/500GB/DOS
Asus K53SM-SX010D / 2nd Gen Ci5/4 GB/750 GB/2GB graphics DOS
HP Pavilion G6 Series G6-2103TU Laptop (Sparkling Black) (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 500GB/ Win7HB)
Dell New Inspiron 15R 3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 500GB/ Linux Laptop

What's your final pick?

HP Pavilion G6 Series G6-2103TU is the best for your needs. From flipkart offer you will get 2 years of onsite warranty, that is truly great.

It is powered by new 3rd gen core-i5 processor, has two USB 3.0 and two free RAM slots. Also it comes with hp coolsense technology which keeps the laptop cooler than others.

For around 42k you can get dell inspiron 15R
