you wont need an i5 for the tasks you've mentioned.

so this one. : Sony VAIO Fit 14E F14216SN/B Laptop (3rd Gen Ci3/ 2GB/ 500GB/ Win8/ Touch/HD 4000/1366 x 768 Pixel)
though its not HD, it fulfills all your demands in budget.
BTW, will you really use the touch screen ?
i mean there are more options available (with add-on GPU's as well)
also, any reason to go with just two Manufacturers ??
there are more . like samsung, Dell, Toshiba, etc.
and why is acer blacklisted ?

Same question from me...
Just try stretching your arms forward and swiping across you laptop/PC screen and see how awkward that feels...
The only use of touchscreens in this segment is in the hybrids... :)
Btw, @mastercool8695, congrats on crossing the 1000 posts mark!!! Party!!! :hyper:

Dude now listen to me..
This G580 is cheaply made..Not very durable..
I will seriously suggest you to go with any of these..
G series is the lowest among Lenovo.

First is this Lenovo Ideapad Z580
This is best looking laptop in this range, got a Macbook like look, I have this, A very large, buttery smooth touchpad, 15.6 inch HD screen, glass like finish, and has the best in class Dolby speakers, I mean you will be blown off with its sound quality. No heating and very very silent.
It has got a touch panel also at the top which you won't see in any of the laptops in this range.

And second is Lenovo B490, though it has a 14 inch screen but the quality is superb and has an i5(3rd gen), 7200 RPM HDD, Fingerprint reader etc. It's a business series laptop so it is deliberately made more durable than consumer laptops.
Would suggest you to go with the Ideapad though the B490 also has its own advantages.
Best of luck!!
