Guys!
I hv a question...

Suppose I install a new fresh Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and all the updates ( 29 approx after SP2 ) on a system.
Then what r the minimum and essential security s/w that should be installed on the system?
I mean which security s/w must be installed on the system?

Like norton or avg or other anti viruses
Firewalls
Anti Spywares
etc.

Pls list the s/w, that must be installed in a system to make the OS work properly and keeping away from viruses.
thnx...

The Only Essentials ARE-

1) Antivirus like Avast pro or other which takes less system resources with latest updates

2)Zone Alarm

3)Spybot S&D

i think Zone Alarm firewall and Zone Alarm antivirus is the best solution you can also install AD-Aware SE for more security
I am not Happy with norton's fire wall cos i got more trojan attacks when i had installed it

Don't use ZA Antivirus. Its one of th worst. Also using more than 1 anti-spyware is imp. as they all compliment as not all detect all.

The best combination of Anti-Spywares: Spybot, Ad-aware SE Pro 1.06 and MS Antispyware beta.

Antivirus Recommended: McAfee.

Firewall: ZA.

Some more essentials: Hijackthis, Browser Sentinel
