Hi guys, I just bought a Logitech G105 from a reputed shop in Kolkata(will not share the name now, don't want to make early conclusions). Now, the keyboard was in a sealed pack. It's imported by Rashi. Now the funny thing is that the Serial no. on the box and on the back of the keyboard are not matching. This is the first time something like this had happened

I also know that Rashi keeps track of Logitech Warranty via the serial no. So they might have the wrong no. in the database. I usually throw the box away, thank god I haven't done it yet for this. Very weird situation. So what should I do?

I tried to send a mail to Logitech, anyone have their mail id? All I can see in their website are their phone numbers.

contact the shop from where you bought it and ask for a replacement. that is the easiest thing you can do.

in the mean time, if you have the telephone number of the shop, you may call them and tell the fact that you need replacement.

Uh oh. I just realized even I have the same problem! I bought a Logitech G400s from Flipkart a month back.
Never really bothered to match the serial numbers on the box and the mouse. But turns out mine don't match either. It was a sealed pack.

Ok I am starting to think this is Logitech's fault. I have a same serial number mismatch with my G400s. Did not bother to check it till I read the quoted post. I bought it from Flipkart and yeah, it was a sealed pack

So I called the shop, they calmly said not to worry about this and warranty would be taken care of by Rashi as well as the shop if I chose to go there. Its as if they already knew about such a problem. I'd get more info about it on saturday when I visit the shop, not for a replacement but rather for a discussion.

Now this is a very trusted shop, MD Computers Kolkata, I'd been dealing with them for 8yrs now and they have yet to disappoint me in anyway. So I trust the seller and will hold him to his word. This honestly looks like a very big mishap by Rashi who tags a serial no. to the box outside. Can you guys check if you box also have imported by Rashi sticker on it? This looks like a fault made by rashi, so I guess I shouldn't worry about it, as they keyboard is beyond any doubt genuine.

But I would suggest you guys to send a mail to flipkart regarding this issue, I am satisfied by the sellers reply. Meanwhile I had shot a mail to Rashi as well, will wait for their reply.

FYI: My box was imported in June 2014.

That is what worries me, I know that Rashi does not require bill while processing Logitech product rma, they track the serial no. So my query is which serial no. is correct? I have a tendency to throw away the box of most computer parts, just so happens if they are tracking the serial no. on the box, I might have been in deep $hit.

Logitech is going nuts it seems, lets see if any other user complains about this issue. Meanwhile I had sent another mail to rashi, if nothing concrete comes up over the weekend I'll give a call to Logitech zonal manager in kolkata by next week.

The serial number is glued not printed. So I guess it is Logitech at fault here

Yes, both on the box as well the product itself, the box has only the serial no glued, while the keyboard has the serial no along with part no. glued at the back. The serial no. starts off with the same characters but differ from the middle.

After reading the above posts I also checked my g400s' box. Serial numbers don't match. I purchased it about 2 months ago from flipkart. The pack was sealed and the product is genuine.

Imp. By : RASHI Peripherals Pvt. Ltd.
Imp. Month : May 14

The first thing I did after receiving my W8961ND today was to check the serial numbers.

It seems to be a problem created by logitech, not sure if this will cause any issues, Rashi is yet to reply, hopefully I'll get some answers on Saturday as I visit the shop as well as Rashi.

Yes, do go ahead. This is a very troubling issue and I am no longer suggesting Logitech to my friends till this gets sorted out.

^^ Can you send me the picture of the product, the bill and the box (if you have it) via PM? I am also surprised that Digit doesn't seem to intervene in such important issues on behalf of its members/ readers.

I didnt bother to notice serial number for my G300. But I want to share how RMA is done.
I bought G300 from ebay, after few months the left clicks and wheel started showing problems. I took my mice, bill and box to the service center. They took my mice only and didnt bother about teh box or bill and replace me with a new one.

So I dont think the serial number mismatch will be a issue here

I contacted the Logitech and this is the reply:

Dear Prakash,

My name is Marissa R., I understand that you would like assistance with your G602 Wireless Gaming Mouse.

This is to inform you that it is normal that the serial number on your mouse is different on the box.

In line with warranty claim, Logitech based its products warranty from the date of purchase indicated on the receipt. We suggest for you to keep your product's receipt for future reference.

For future reference your case reference number is XXXXXXXXXX. This will allow us to quickly find the contact history when you need additional help. If we do not receive a reply, your support request will eventually be closed and set to "solved". A survey will be sent to you to gather your feedback.

To contact us by phone or obtain additional information (FAQ's, Forum, Manuals, etc.) please visit Logitech Support - Downloads, Manuals, FAQs & More.

So S/N does not matter ?! and what's the use of two different S/Ns ?
The Sorcerer
Sep 19, 2014 at 7:47 AM
Its always that the SN on the box that should match on the device. You get a bill based on the SN number based on the box, but when you give a product for RMA, they refer to the serial number. Even if they don't see warranty period based on a serial number, the back-end will. That's where usually they'll decide if they should repair or replace it. If the SN details reveal that its not Indian/APAC item- irrespective its imported by Rashi or not- it would create some issue at some point, especially if/when Rashi has some new rule that you'll need to produce a bill and if SN number doesn't match the product, then prepared to face the situation accordingly.

I've contacted Rashi peripherals and strangely they're being tight-lipped about it. Same goes for Logitech Asia-Pacific team. Unexpected silent response from such a brand.

It is logitech mistake, but during RMA they scan device barcode only.
