In this tutorial we are going to smoothen the surface of the skin and add a glow effect to the image.
Smoothening the skin:

  • Open the photograph of anyone whose skin is slightly rough.
  • Select the brush tool and hit ‘Q’ to turn on masking.
  • Brush all over the face except the eye, eyebrows and lips.
  • Hit ‘Q’ again, now the area except the face is selected, hit Ctrl+I to select the face.
  • Now go to Filter>Blur and click on Gaussian Blur, set the radius to 1.0 and click OK.
  • Now you can observe the rough surface of the skin is smoothened.

Adding a glow effect:

  • Open the photograph.
  • Unlock the layer and duplicate the layer.
  • Place the duplicated layer under the original layer.
  • Apply Guassian Blur to the duplicated layer setting the radius to 4.0.
  • Set the opacity of the original layer to 60%.
  • Now you can observe some glow effect on the photograph.
