Those using the service will get automatic anti-virus software updates direct from Microsoft, in the same way other users get them from the likes of Symantec, McAfee and Trend Micro.

OneCare will become a commercial product next year, and beta users will be among the first to be offered the service when it launches. Pricing for the product has so far not been finalised.

An enterprise version of OneCare is also in the offing from Microsoft. By the end of the year, Microsoft plans to release an initial test version of its new Microsoft Client Protection product, to protect business desktops, laptops and servers.

And it not pnly asks for 500 mb space but also asks for at least 256 mb of ram...so it just might not be light on system. But I like microsoft softwares for their rock solid support.Hope this will be same

hi ! :)

downloaded and installed onecare. the windows onecare folders say almost 60 MB.

apart from an antivirus, it has a backup utility. it also has a basic tune-up utility, which actually just runs ur default disk cleaner and windows defragmentor. it also checks up ur pc for missing windows updates, scans for avirus, and lets u backup, all in one click. but nothing new, really !

i could not download the exe setup file so that i could uninstal and then instal it again in future if required. if i uninstal it now, i will have to download the whole fxxxxxx thing all over again. wish there was a way to download the setup file. it just instals on ur pc like the updates. there is an uninstall option, in the addremove programs, though.

dont know how good the antivirus definations are; speed is ok. resource utilisation (in my opinion) slightly on the higher side.

it did not conflict with the zonealarm security suite, avast, avg on my pc, but i believe it has serious conflicts with norton, mcafee, trendmicro, etc. so take care.

bottomline, if u have a good antivirus in place u dont need this one. but we will have to see how good its antivirus really develops into.

that will be its acid test :!:

PS : there is an improvement in the firewall functions though. it monitors outgoing traffic too and asks for ur permissions.

I have got a second invitation saying that I can forward that mail to as many friends who want to try out OneCare Beta. Also it can be installed on as many different PC's as possible.

So friends start posting your hotmail or msn ids(as it may not open through other mails - its risky). I will forward that invitation to everybody.

To prove it that it is not a scam here is a screenshot:

I will post a long review with screenshots by tommorow.
