1. Budget?
15k Max

2. Display type and size?
IPS and b/w 4"-5". 280+ ppi

3. Dual sim?
Yes

4. Preferred choice of brand?
Other than Samsung, Micromax and other Local brands.

5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)?
Both front and rear camera. Good enough for Instagram and such stuffs.

6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc).
Android only

7. Preferred connectivity options (3G, 4G ready).
3G is more than enough

8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)?
Everything other than High end Gaming. It should be able to run Temple Run, Asphalt and may be FIFA

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
Asus Zenfone 5

10. Any other info that you want to share
Does anyone owning zenfone 5 for more than 5-6 months faced drop in performance? Because i'll be installing 20-25 apps.
So i want to know will it slow down after 5-6 months of usage?
And will i be getting service if i get it from flipkart? Is it available in any mobile showrooms?

+1 to Moto G (2014), zenfone 5 is also good. Don't rely on local shops for good phones at right price.

+1 to Moto G (2014)

+1? I didn't get you. Neither OP nor any other members suggested Moto G here I guess.

@OP : Have you referred to Sam's buying guide buddy? You've got all worthy options in all price segments there and FYI Moto G is literally a no-brainer under 15k for Andrioid and Lumia 730 if you're into WP.

Slightly OT : I'm really astonished by the fact that things that have already been discussed to death in multiple threads still come up as queries every single day and there are members here to responding the same blindly rather than suggesting OP to go through the stickies and other related threads.

4. Preferred choice of brand?

Other than local brands. I can't differentiate between local and international/global brand. Means you don't want indian brand?

5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)?
Both front and rear camera. Good enough for Instagram and such stuffs.

And flash you want or not?
new micromax selfie mobile has "13 mp front facing camera with flash". Just for info.

8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)?
Everything other than High end Gaming. It should be able to run Temple Run, Asphalt and may be FIFA

other than? you should ask for high gaming smartphone (always : my point of view, because gaming is the only thing which can use all your resources, so better get for high end then at least you can play for low end. ;)), for everyday use also, because performance matters.

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
Asus Zenfone 5

Your should consider changing thread name.
"Mobile phone <15k"
above "<" sign means "greater than"
means greater than 15k.

wrong explanation... :) :p
he used "less than " = "<" like sign, we normally do.
but technically its not proper.

I will delete my reply. Not because I am wrong, because people will talk about me instead of finding op mobile...

Thank you so much for such a long information

I finally have my choices. Moto G or Zenfone 5.

1) 1GB Ram With Snapdragon vs 2GB Ram with Intel processor. Which is good.

2) How is the service of both phones, since both are available only on flipkart?

I think if i get answer for these i will have my choice for sure.

Service varies from place to place but I would pick moto G coz of the simplistic UI and ease of usage. Intel has some problem with some apps or was having no idea on this but snapdragon works generally well every where.

I'm not sure about intel processor (not about speed, about support, cpu architecture differs.)
Go for moto g... or wait for moto e... or micromax yu phone (dec 18)
zenfone 5 does not offer rich user experience..
Service? service center?

Yes Service Center!

I don't know about service, but I can give you guarantee about moto phones. I have seen Moto E, Moto G 1st gen users from my family and friends, nothing happened to device. My dad's moto e sometimes response slow, not often, lots of apps installed and not maintained properly. But everything is good, if case and screen guard is there for extra protection. :)

No need of service center in case of moto device at least for 1 year use, as I seen users from family and friends. :)

Simple if you need a good camera and 2GB ram get zenphone 5 for everything else get moto G 2014.

Service is same with Moto and Asus. Both have service centers.

I wouldn't suggest you to get 1st gen moto G due to lack of memory card slot and not so good camera.

i thought its rear cam is its downside. The 6.7 MP rear cam on my 720 was good for the initial few months, but I dont know how its producing grainy images ever since.

To add to that, the Moto G 2014 might have that water repellent coating just like it's older brother (though you should still Google this). This saves you the trouble for taking extra caution while getting caught in a sudden downpour.

Finally, if you are not that much of a power user then you can go with either the Z5 or the Moto, but because the Moto G has quite a robust unofficial support over at XDA you get therefore receive faster upgrades, better choice (of apps, mods, roms), extensive literature (to refer, for beginners)

not the case for me,its rear cam beats most other cams out there
maybe you have a hardware fault or something
the front cam on the 720 was a bit grainy (730s is a major improvement with the new 5mp camera)

Checkout geekyranjit review of l730 camera. The back snapper is good but the front is horrible even in average lighting.

I havent played much with the front cam of the 730 but its an improvement over the 720s front cam for sure
compared to say HTC M8s front camera, the 730s isnt that great
the rear snapper is a real deal breaker though, takes some pretty amazing shots

Yeah m8 has good front cam but I never liked it. It is a hit or miss type of a scenario when you use the front cam. But I really liked the pics from the rear snapper of L730.

^Yup and not only the camera, the Lumia 730's overall design, build quality ,battery life, interface and in all other aspects beats not only the moto g but most other mobiles in the price range.
Yesterday my friend bought this beauty. If I have to say just one thing, this mobile just blows! Also a 1 gb windows 8.1 L730 is as fast as a 2 GB android smartphone. Internet connectivity is fast and battery life excellent. The camera is equivalent to my zf5 though. Maybe slightly better.

plus after owning the 720 which carries the same design and slightly older hardware - its fantastic that MS has kept a 2.5 year old device like the 720 alive with regular updates, new features nearly every day are added and despite 512mb ram ,i cant feel any difference in performance(only load times for apps are rarely 2-3 secs slower than my 820,no biggie though)
its a very fresh approach to phones in terms of design, vfm and updates

Also consider the quality of the updates. With every new update windows phone experience keeps on improving. Take for instance - Wp7 the lamest and now wp 8.1 the best.

Thank You for all suggestions and replies. I bought Asus Zenfone 5. First impression way better than any samsung phone.. Really loved each and every part of it. Got it from local shop, so i'll be getting service. Once again, i was never this satisfied after purchasing any gadgets. Simply awesome mobile. And i dont know why people go for WP... Shitty UI... Whatever WP was never in my head... Anyways Thank You all once again...

wp isnt shitty, just because you havent had a proper go at it doesnt make it bad at all
once you own and use one for a period of time, you can pass such judgements
some of us actually like the UI of ios and WP over android, that doesnt mean we go ahead and call android shitty

Samsung isn't really trying to make a good VFM phone.
Shops don't give service, the company does. If it comes to the shopkeeper, then the phone may have seller warranty only.

^Congrats on your purchase :) . Yup aZF 5 is one of the best phones on the <15k range (and above too if you consider its camera and gaming capabilities). Btw be sure to get a normal micro sim and not a cut micro sim and do full charging discharging cycles for atleast a month to get the best battery backup. Also get a good flipcover for your mobile to protect it from damages.
Don't worry about service centers much . Been using my zenfone 5 since 5 months and not been to the service center once.

P.s - Dn't agree with WP being shitty though. WP is the best for business users.
