I have observed following behavior of mouse in my office PC and also even on PCs that are in the conference rooms in the office.

When I am moving the mouse, sometimes (not too frequently) it just disappears for a fraction of a second and appears to be present at some other corner, i.e. it suddenly jumps to some other location on screen though I am moving it slowly and smoothly.

Though it’s not a big problem, it’s a bit annoying!
Office PC config is P4 2.2 Ghz, Win XP SP2 with all applicable patches / fixes till date.

I would suggest change the Mouse with any other system of your office, see then what happens :)

That used to happen with me on ball mouses due to the amount of the goo and dust and what not inside it, stuck to the ball. I cleaned it once every month and the problem never cropped up after that ..
