Why do you want to overclock with a moderate budget? You can have a look at other threads. There are innumerable threads for 25-30k range. Please look into those first to get an idea. And you can go for m5a97 instead of m5a88..

The thing is with with fx4100 you have to buy an entry level graphic card to play games.A8 3870k has a strong IGP with the help of which some games can be played well enough.

That graphic card is not that great for gaming.Get atleast an hd5670 or an hd6570ddr3 for some decent level of gaming.Or else stick to the APU(AMD A8).APU will get your money saved and provide you gaming performance that is equivalent or better than hd5450.

are those card not costly. I have seen reviews where people combined fx 4100 with hd 5450 and all games are working brilliant..... ? (reviews on flipkart)

hd6670ddr3 is around 4-4.2k.Get one if you are not going for APU.
If not going for APU then get i3 2100(6.5k)+GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H(4.2k)+hd6670ddr3@4k orhd6570ddr3@3.5k.
Else stick to the APU and save money.

can u please tell me the advantage of apu over fx 4100 bulldozer? i can i buy that graphic card, but can u suggest me a cheaper motherboard without loosing the performance?...

^^Mate APU has good IGP which is decent enough for entry-level gameplay.Fx4100 has no IGP and in general in most of the tasks it is slower than i3 2100,only in some heavily multi-threaded tasks it is ahead of the i3 2100.Though for daily usage one can't find the difference between the three(s8 3870k,i3 2100,fx4100).
If you have the money then go for i3 2100+ GA-B75M-D3H+ discrete graphic card(atleast hd6570).Or better stick the APU and save money since you are concerned about gaming performance.
For gaming performance i3 2100>fx4100 and more so in lower resolutions.

First of all clocks don't determine the overall performance, neither the number of physical cores. There are various other factors.
i3 2100 has a clock of 3.1GHz.

is i3>apu

In raw performance, yes. That is in single threaded tasks they are ahead. In multi-threaded tasks it depends. But in general i3 2100 has better raw performance than llano APU.
In tasks where GPU acceleration is required like photoshop cs6,gimp etc the A8 3870k will be significantly faster than i3 2100,considering that there is no discrete card in either of the system..
In daily tasks(normal usage) one can't notice the difference between them.
Moral of the story:if you can afford take i3 2100 with a decent entry level GPU or else stick to the APU.

^is the above configuration future proof? intel pentium g630??

well i did a research and found that apu have fm1 which is not future proof right?
V

Oct 24, 2012 at 9:54 PM
In games like max payne 3 and gta IV which run better on a processor which can handle 4 threads simultaneously will be hampered in case of pentium g630.
From a processor side of things i3 2100 is definitely better with higher clocks and hyper-threading though not worth 3k over the pentium g630.
Otherwise for daily usage it is quite ok.

SO what is the final configuration i should buy ? which will be good and fututre proof 3-4 years thanks :) budget should not exeed 30k...
W
Oct 24, 2012 at 11:10 PM
3-4 years is a long time & for gaming rule of thumb is buy the costliest graphics card today to avoid regrets later.pentium G630 rig suggested earlier qualifies on this account so get that with one change.get 1*4gb corsair 1333 ram for ~1100 instead of spending 2400 for 8gb which is not necessary for your usages.

Well, i can change my Graphic card AFter wards, i need a future proof processor and mother board which does not need to be changed .....
when games stops working in the graphic card i will upgrade it but not the processor and the motherboard.....
W
Oct 24, 2012 at 11:35 PM
in that case get the config suggested by @minion in the 3rd post.a quad core processor is good for 3-4 years & for mobo you can save money by getting Gigabyte A55M-DS2(~3600 on flipkart so local prices will be lower) & 4gb gskill ripjawsX 1600 ram.

i have heard fm1 is not future proof while i googled that am3+ are future proof???
W
Oct 25, 2012 at 12:10 AM
there is no such thing as future-proof because nobody knows the future.if you are not going to change your processor & mobo within 3-4 years then it doesn't matter what you buy today.this matters only for those who change processor/mobo on a yearly/2 year basis.

Oct 25, 2012 at 12:16 AM
3-4 years down the line nothing can said about availability of compatible processors for motherboard. Now AM3+ is used by bulldozer and piledriver.
Whether steamroller will use the same socket?Nobody knows.Though rumors say some things but we can't take that into account. The thing is even if you have a good lga1155 based motherboard in 2014 or 2015 and want to upgrade then there might not be any compatible processors available then.Even if they are available they might not be at appropriate prices. There might be better alternatives.
lga1155 and am3+ socket only look good if you in need to upgrade the processor near about a year from now or somewhat like that.

If you want somewhat powerful processor then take i3 2100 or a8 3870k.Even if i3 has 2 less physical cores it still has much better IPC(instuctions per clock),and hyperthreading. In games(with a discrete graphic card) i3 2100>a8 3870k.If you are purchasing a discrete graphic card then go with i3 2100 else a8 3870k.

If you can really wait a bit longer then wait for the arrival of trinity processors in India and get a quad core trinity processor.Again nothing can be said about price and availability now.'
Trinity quad core processors have a good mix of CPU performance and good IGP.

OKAY i am GOiNg for Apu AMD 3 GHz FM1 A8 3870K Processor as i am not going to change it but tell me one thing will the processor hang wile playing game or will it be with me for 3-4 years?(crash). thanks :).. Please tell me some shops in nehru place where i can buy these parts and assemble them (reliable shop) thanks again :)

And one more question can be overclocked?
W
Oct 25, 2012 at 12:30 AM
depends on what games are launched in future.when crysis was launched a few years ago even the most expensive cards of that time struggled at high/ultra setting but today even 3870K can run crysis smoothly at low resolution & medium setting.

all K edition processor can be overclocked.my friend bought 3670K & GIGABYTE GA-A55M DS2 from cost2cost,nehru place at good rates.

SO here we go:
RAm 4 Gb:- RS 935(Trancend)
Motherboard:- Rs 6390 (ASUS M5A 97 970 processor)
Processor- Rs 6500 (AMD 3 GHz FM1 A8 3870K)
Graphic card- Rs 1900 (Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3...)
Internal HArd Drive- rs3701 (Seagate Barracuda 500 GB Desktop Internal Hard...)
Dvd - rs1035 (lg)
Cabinet-rs2287 ( cooler master 311 elite)
psu- Suggest me!
fans- rs400 cooler master 120mm
Samsung 18.5 rs6000
TOTAL: 29148
<<<<<<<<<<PLEASE SUGGEST ME ANYTHING TO IMPROVE>>>>>>>>>>>>
I think we can lower the cost of the motherboard???
W
Oct 25, 2012 at 12:37 AM
3870K is FM1 socket processor while asus M5A 97 is AM3+ mobo so not possible.also buy corsair/gskill 1600 ram since amd A series processor works better with 1600 ram than usual 1333 ram.also inbuilt graphics of 3870K is equivalent to 6670 so buying any card less than 6770/7750 is waste of money.
