I need a .pdf file reader that should run smoother than adobe reader and has better user interface much like reading a real book.
Thanks!

Foxit is much light-weight than Adobe.

If you need features, then Nitro. If performance, then Foxit.

I also prefer Sumatra PDF. That's the lightest one around.

Sumatra is pretty good but Foxit has some basic editing and selection features without which I can't live so I prefer Foxit Reader.

I have tried Foxit Reader, go some striking ads on right hand side. Found it annoying.

Foxit if the best PDF client I ever came across. Loads fast. Isn't a bloat.

though this is irrelevant to this thread and if you guys don't criticize me ;-) I can vouch for Acrobat Reader 11 - it's a lot faster, smoother and better than any previous version.

Maybe. Haven't used Adobe in a long time, maybe they improved. :)

my reason for preferring sumatra besides its small footprint is security.a few years ago there was a security vulnerability discovered in the way pdf file preview is generated which allow execution of code even by just single click to select the modified pdf file(not even double-click) & almost all pdf readers were affected(including foxit newest versions but not older versions) except sumatra & a few obscure ones.since pdf is a good exploit target along with ms office documents it is better to use small & not so popular pdf reader like sumatra because popular ones always gets targeted first & also because of their ever increasing feature set.

Agree. Also for compatibility reasons, I always keep Adobe installed at least on one system.

But it still creates the useless desktop shortcut. ;)

I found some more PDF reader / creation apps :

Perfect PDF Reader
Perfect PDF Master
Cool PDF Reader - View PDF, Free PDF Viewer - this is most probably the smallest PDF reader ;-)
