Need a tablet below 6.5k

hi, I'm looking for a tablet below 6.5k, will buy next month...
what i want are:
> 1GB RAM,
> at least 1.2GHz processor, dual core preferred
> Developer support for root, roms, upgrades, recoveries ? (if possible)
> good battery life.
> HDMI ? (optional)
> GPS ? (optional, but if tablet's battery dies I will use as car navigation :))

Page showed error and I made two refreshes , it just created 2 more posts !!

Xtron doesnt have GPS , HDMI or bluetooth..

I don't know if it has external GPS device support.

But in a tablet with GPS on , how many minutes of backup we will get ?
If this is your first tablet and you need performance , you must go for it .
Some other tablets with the same features has reported hanging issues....
You will never regret the buy .
Read the reviews in sites like
Lava Xtron review and Unboxing

If there are no similar tabs , I will buy it next week.

no it has JB and it can be rooted, recovery(CWM) can be insalled and custom roms not sure, and there are some roms too ICOO D70Pro-2 Rom Development and Icoo RK3066 Tablets - SlateDroid.com and official firmwares from icoo d70pro II and more

Dont know the original Chinese model .

The tablet houses the same Rockchip RK30board as found on Wammy Desire and VeeDee D10DC.

I tried to contact LAVA by sending 3 email one week ago, still no response.

There are 3 continuous negative reviews in Flipkart now , I am confused....

check the a forum veedee.in - Index , you can get firmware updates in there.

But , if I were you ,and I don't have any HDMI devices in my home.
So will go with Lava coz it has an IPS display .

Lava has a front camera of 2MP(above the display), it doesn't has a camera in the rear .

IPS display will give wider viewing angle and more brightness.

Veedee = Long battery

Lava = High performance + Good display

i don't think taking photographs using back camera in a tablet will give good quality

and lava tab was rooted only 5-6 days back, don't know surely as i goggled now only, so it may not have custom roms and recovery (CWM)
But veedee can be rooted, and recovery can be installed, see my post number #10 and Imo think roms can be installed also as it's a Chinese rebranded tablet *www.aoicoo.com/en/products_show.asp?id=102

Chinese firmware and veedee firmware has similar sizes 227MB 229MB.

It's your choice, you want viewing angle and good display,

It is better looking , have separate charging port , TF card slot with a covering.

If a replacement can solve it , then just do it.
Coz , if there are gaps like that , dust can get in so easily...!!
The OTG cable was in the box , and there was a screen guard with protective film in prefixed.

and I got my Lava Xtron last Saturday.
Display is awesome , build quality is superb. I have the heating problem as well , but it is not a big problem , right ?

a flip cover / back cover can be used for that heating problem.

The backlight is not leaking, did you see the photos I linked? But there are no gaps... The pre applied screen protector is crap

They have 7 day replacement warranty, will check everything and see it's ok or will go for replacement

But performance is in top notch for this tablet, real performance in this price range

And there are sooo many otg cables? And very cheap also, which one should I get?

hello friend, i have checked me u2, it has free ram of 600mb... i doubt karbon has got this much free ram,...

+ gpu is not specified in the comparison link u provided.... i hope there must be one... otherwise no hd playback...

+ hcl is a more trusted brand you know.... offers better service and response i hope (i think).. and is more reliable than karbon, i think... actually i don't know nothing about karbonn products and after sales services...

but i'll check about this karbon tab too.. if it offers best value for money, then it would be final...

@kARTechnology , you are right .. even Gogi's tab has back-light seeing through the case..
If you have no other issues . better keep it. Coz , sometimes it will take more than a month to get a replacement!

If no why don't look at that acer tab which they launched in feb

Coz HCL has a weak processor , low resolution normal LCD with low viewing angle .

Karbonn has not so smooth touch ,normal display with low viewing angle, low internal memory , its battery takes a lot of time to charge, and cheap build quality.
You will find difficulty in buying covers for this tab.

then please give me better options... and if you talk about processor then i think hcl is offering dual core 1.2 ghz which i think is strong enough to perform almost all general operations...
and if you call it a cheap build quality then i would like to remind you again that i am looking for a BUDGET tablet,
so in the range of 5-7k, all of them would be having cheap build quality according to you then.... please suggest me what is better according to you...

because my need is only for hd videos + office docs and pdf reader + internet browsing and music... and this all i can get in a 5-6k tablet... there is no need to increase budget as i see...
I need 1 gb ram + >=1ghz processor + gpu ..,, and many tablets offer this config in 6k price range, so i don't think that a budget for>10k or samsung tab is required for these all ....
and i am ready to compromise with primary camera, because my needs don't require a camera, also i'll rarely use a secondary camera for video chat, so 0.3 MP is enough for it...
so i am looking a tablet around 6k.....
and the main problem is that there are just too many brands and models in this price range,... i don't know which one to go with you know....

There are others also.

But according to @shijilt and other friends, go in for a Tablet with "dual-core" processor.

Don't go in for Brand Names when buying cheaper budget based Tablets,but look out for specs. + functions along with reviews.

I have been using Lava Xtron for 6 days now.
May be 1 / 2 hours per day.
I am able to play movie Avatar in 1280X720 , size 4 GB. No issues , it plays so smooth.(Bulit in player didnt play this ".m4v" files , I just installed MX player and it worked.)
I didn't experienced any hangups while using this tab.
I have successfully installed and played games upto 2 GB in size (haven't tried beyond that).
There is a small lag when I turn it on for the first 30 seconds and that is usual , even our PCs have that "startup" issue.

I have seen user reviews of Lava Xtron and Wicked Leaks warmy desire , they have almost the same issues.
When the clock-speed increases the processor will take more power and it will get heated up , that is usual.
I have used internet in my tablet through WiFi and it was fast.
There are only three tablets in 10000 RS range with this super processing + graphical powers.

I have only 3 requirements for which i need a tablet:
1. internet browsing ,
2. pdf reader and document viewer
3. hd videos playback
4. all other wrok like gaming, camera, video call etc. i will do but not that much, so these are not my priorities, and hdmi is not required....

May be you are correct,but comparing my 3 Tablets with that of my Kodak M866 camera,I found that the Kodak camera has a more lesser(minute area sized)area structured USB port compared to that of the the Tablets.Then which one is a mini-USB and which one is a micro-USB?

Shivam24 @ I didn't buy Warmy desire coz , Lava Xtron has abetetr display.
I have seen many budget tablets , Xtron has the best screen quality.

And Warmy desire's is a new brand , Lava had been here for a few yesrs now .. we can belive them.
Warmy desire also has the heating and battery issues.
Lava has IPS display and it is a lot useful for me.
Warmy Desire has HDMI instead, which is not useful for me .
Sound output through the speakers in low, but if you play some good qulaity audio or video file , it will give better output.
If you are in a village area , the sound will be ok.
Supplied earphone is average , and gives louder and clear sound.

I will recommend this Xtron tablet to those who need maximum gaming experience from a budget tablet.
For E book reading a 10" tablet is better. (I do spend at-least 30 minutes / day in this tab to read Ebooks , it is ok , no issues. )

Not only for applications , but for the whole graphical experience.
Higher the resolution , better the display.

if the resolution is low , you can see the pixels separately.
But if you have higher resolution , you will get higher sharpness.

SOUND QUALITY (earphones + loudspeaker) for me matters a lot, though i may use a good quality earphone but still i need to know that the tablet i'll buy must have decent sound quality....
and because of this i sometimes look towards hcl me u2.... though i haven't seen any live demo of it yet, just read reviews....

i am confused....

These tablets do not come with very good quality earphones( or they won't even give one,)
You should get some aftermarket good earphones and install some Equaliser music player app( something like powerAMP, And you can tweak the sound how ever you want)
I don't know about loudspeakers

It is a totally F.A.L.T.U. tab in this price... You have to buy a Holder to hold the tab after using 15 minutes for excessive heat. Go to other tab in this range....

It all depends upon your Tablet's battery "mAh capacity" and your "usage" scenario.

For me:

VeeDee E-10: ~2500 or may be 2000mAh battery.Because Battery capacity for this Tablet was not at all mentioned by VeeDee.
Still lasts for about 2.5hrs~3hrs.(NOT MORE THAN THAT) on continuous usage.

Iberry AUXUS AX01: 4000mAh. Lasting time 3~3.5 hrs.

Milagrow Tabtop 7.16PRO 8GB: 3000mAh. Lasting time ~3.5hrs.

Actually, @kARTechnology,none of the battery of this BUDGET Tablets category lasts as long as "Claimed" by the manufacturer.

Even,this scenario is without playing games or movies watching,where due to graphics processing usage,a typical Battery drains out even more quickly...as their values mentioned above.

If I simultaneously charge and play, it heats up like a Gas stove
I am thinking of rooting it and under clock, then I may get some more backup

Wise thoughts + ideas...

First of all,Dual Core CPU based Tablets are becoming a norm.
Specs. wise it's not so bad,but this tablet will set you back by Rs.7,500/- mind that.
Battery capacity is definitely a big + point as with 3G.But does it have an extra sim card slot?
Perhaps not.
Then go for Lava E-Tab XTRON.

You could also try out the Zync Dual 7,because of the budget which it offers.

The upcoming Zync Quad 9.7 is a HELL OF A TABLET at Rs.14,000/-....beyond the BUDGET.

Well I am using lava e tab xtron and i am quite satisfied with it...
if you have questions ask me..
as per heating problem is concerned i have not faced it yet... battery is decent but is variable it gave me ~3.5 hrs of battery life although astonishingly standby is variable from 6-12 hrs but now i switch it off when i am not using it.. i basically use it for surfing,e-books and videos.. :razz:

well the sound on speakers is quite low but the sound quality on earphones is decent if you buy good earphones you will get good sound quality ( provided earphones are quite good considering the price) and wifi reception is good if you remain in 10-15 m radius of the router..

also i will like to tell you that i got third time lucky as the other two devices had battery backup problems.. so make sure you have a service centre near your residence place the service wa good they replaced it within 2-3 days..

the only problem is variable standby..

as per the screen is considered it is crisp and sharp!! since it is ips it has great viewing angles and thats a big plus point as i can watch videos while laying down on my couch or bed otherwise you have to keep your tab in front of you all the time so definitely prefer ips...

Hey GUYS BATTERY PROBLEM IS SOLVED TOO IT WAS MY CORRUPT SD CARD.. now i am getting 20-22 hrs standby and 3 hrs continuous video playback you guys can order from flipkart they will replace the device if it is faulty and 30 days are more than enough to figure out if it is working fine or not.. you wont get a better deal at this price point..
And if you can extend your budget to 10k you have the option of iberry core x2 3g their service support is good it is an awesome tablet my friend has it and i have used it.it gives standby of 1-2 days and 4-5 hrs video playback it has same specs as xtron but resolution is 1280*800 and 3G CALLING giving it 216 ppi same as nexus 7...

Same EXACT experience goes with my VeeDee E-10(WONDERMEDIA Tablet VIA 8850 chipset),except that it rocks on wifi connection also.No issues no problem with wifi...

THE ONLY CON IS THE BATTERY. :-x

^^I have it in my 3 Tablets.Very Good Battery saver tool,but problem is that,if you are reading or surfing(I mean if your touch responsiveness to the touch screen remains inert for a while)then the screen display becomes off,which may be annoying sometimes.
You have to turn on the screen as well as your screen will also be locked,wherein you need to unlock it.

NO my Friend, don't go for the Monster Tab by Swipe because the ONLY BIG AND THE IMPORTANT con is it's 512MB DDRIII memory.

Nowadays, when Tablets(Budget ones) are tending towards 1GB min. RAM as its norm,why look for less capacity ones. Mind it, the RAM plays a very crucial function regarding the SPEED(fluidity in screen slidings,processes,etc.) of a Tablet or Speed + Processing power(CPU/APU) of any Computer(Desktop or Laptop),which you are very much aware on.

power bank battery is costly.

I found that the screen was having that that thing (I cant say like it is not pure colors means the touch module is interfering with the display if you see closely, see some blurs like that) THIS IS NOT AFFECTING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE TAB IN ANY WAY. IT IS NORMAL LIKE OTHER TABS

i ain't looking for MORE CHEAP ONES. i am looking for a good tablet in this budget...
i've already checked about wammy desire a long time ago. and the battery backup sucks.
checkout the reviews of wammy desire apart from that of gogi rana.
the tablet doesn't lasts more than 1.5 hr which is poor than even lava xtron or other budget tablets.
some users may have posted videos on youtube who are using wammy desire, you may ask them and they'll tell the same thing..

^^Oh! I get it,but Friend in order to have a good battery back up on your Tablet,there are three options:

1). You have to buy a Tablet in the budget order of Rs.10k or more.
Those Tablets which comes with 8000~10000mAh battery.

OR

2). You need to buy a Good but High capacity Battery bank,which may set you by Rs.3000 or more.

OR

3). You have to keep a cord extender + charger(Tablet) arrangement ready always,PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU ARE IN YOUR HOME.
^^ I adopt and resort to this method when I am in my home surfing through my Tablet,with the wifi hotspot in my home enabled.

I think these above three ways are the only ways to resolve battery issues in el-cheapo/budget based Tablets.

well considering my budget i am ok with a tablet giving 3 hrs. of backup, but wammy desire u suggested is just way too cheap i.e. 1.5 hrs of backup only..

though i am again on waiting mode as with time there will come better options as every month new and improved budget tablets are getting launched and i may increase my budget also with time..

and i am diverting my mind to phablets also, so may be i would end up with a phablet like micromax canvas or lava iris 501 or 502 or 454 etc. i have seen them and they are good.. there are various other brands and models are available in the market which i haven't looked yet..

buying a phablet will give me 2 advantage: i can carry it anywhere in my pocket like a phone, as with a tablet you'll have to carry it in hands or a bag you know what i mean to say..
and second advntg is that i want 3g internet connectivity which is available in these budget smartphones..

the only con is 512 mb ram in these budget phones below 10k, but that too will remain no longer with time..

so will not take action till find the best option..

Pros:

1. amazing screen..very bright and smooth touch Response...although viewing angles is not so good(maybe because it is not IPS display)

2. tablet is light in weight..it's not heavy at all. Feels just like a book in my hand.

3. processor is blazing and very fast works awesome..switching between apps is brilliant...and it never hangs (TILL NOW)

4. 1 gb ram is fantastic. multitasking is a fun.

5. Output in Headphone sound quality is very nice.

Cons :

1. The built in speakers, sadly, are not very loud and are a bit disappointing.
2. WiFi Connectivity - Poor need to be close to the wireless router to get a decent internet perfomance
3. Battery backup prb (only 2 hours)

As I see from the pics. and also the features on various sites(including the functional properties) it is more or less (MAY BE EXACTLY) a Tablet from Wondermedia. I mean the specs,looks(except the body chassis color) everything is identical to my VeeDee E-10 Tablet(which is actually a VIA-8850 chip including ARM Cortex-A9 CPU(single core),with MALI-400 GPU).

Just install & run the Quadrant Benchmark tool,where you will find the detailed information section about your tablet. Tap and see it...

^^Look Friend, I was correct with my assumption.

The same message(except some info,such as Model:VeeDee E-10,etc.) pops in my VeeDee E-10's screen too,in this Quadrant Tool.

You need to update/upgrade to Android-4.1.1(Jelly Bean) ,which will render your Tablet to a power horse.

Your screen touch experience will be as smooth as silk...your wifi issues will be nullified completely.

Rest assured you will enjoy a great deal with your Tablet(AFTER Android-OS UPGRADATION).

The only demerit/con that will remain will be the BATTERY BACKUP!!!! :-x

Obviously,viewing angle will suffer considerably to a great extent due to its normal nature.

just checked and i found that etab xtron+ too has 7 inch IPS LCD capacitive multi touch screen with 1024 x 600 pixel display.

official has not mentioned anything but that does not necessarily mean its normal lcd. afa these sites are concerned, NDTV is a genuine site so i kinda believe them but i have emailed lava people with this query. hope they will revert back.

It's a very common sense,that when Lava is upgrading their XTRON Tablet to XTRON+,then why should they return to normal LCD screen? Is'nt that a malpractise for marketing & selling aspects of the company? Well LAVA can confirm it....

wasn't getting anything good in my budget , decided to buy xtron+ but then read flipkart reviews, most of buyers said that flipkart is delivering faulty product, so dropped d idea...

may be will something better later, its just a desire, not that much need, i already got a pc, a mobile lol..
may be will go for a samsung product when damn pocket will allow...

almost same with me. wanted to buy one just for reading books n watching videos n decided to buy xtron n then xtron+ but flipkart reviews are bad

I have not update to jelly bean..
just using ice cream sandwich.....

All of my 3 Tablets upgraded to Android-4.1.1(Jelly Bean) successfully :-

1). VeeDee E-10 --------> Upgraded long back in January 2013.

2). Iberry AUXUS AX01 -------> Upgraded this June 2013.

3).Milagrow MGPT07/TabTop 7.16PRO 8GB ------> Upgraded recently this July 2013(last week).

By the grace of GOD all the above 3 Tablets are running + functioning smoothly compared to Android-4.0.*(Icecream Sandwich)....

I know lava xtron+ is the best one in this range and maybe most updated one...but flipkart reviews and my poor experience with micromax in the past is confusing me...

my pleasure buddy and its very true but there are all kinds in this world. they might have done it to increase the battery time.

i feel they are good at goof-ups. there is an ad of Lava iVory in Digit August 2013. it mentions their website address as HugeDomains.com - LavaInternational.com is for Sale (Lava International) but that domain is up for sale. i have not found the ivory tablet on their official website / facebook page.

Milagrow TabTop MGPT07(7.16 PRO8GB) is also a decent Tablet below Rs.5k,which I own(FREE as a PRIZE).
It is actually a Chinese Tablet brand named "CHUWI" which is rebranded as Milagrow TabTop MGPT07.

Only con is the RAM is 512MB DDR3. Else all other specs. are quite decent.

Me reverted my IBERRY AUXUS AX01 Tablet back to Icecream Sandwich(Android-4.0.3) as the Jelly Bean Update was provided on XDA-forums,not the official site.
There were problems with the Jelly Bean on AX01 tablet.
I EVEN BRICKED IT.
But after successful,unbricking the Tablet is running very good. Battery has taken the toil of BRICKING/UNBRICKING...
IBERRY has said that they will replace the battery for Rs.1,500/- if I send back the Tablet to them.
This is a briefing from their customer care,as I contacted them through a support ticket.

Note: Always best to upgrade OS only through official sites and none otherwise.

My other 2 Tablets Veedee E-10 and MILAGROW MGTP07 are running without any hitch after successful upgrades to JellyBean only provided by their respective official sites.

Still i don't understand why the manufacturer didn't provide the official update to JB, as it came back in 2012.

Anyone who wants to purchase a cheap tablet , i can recommend ainol easily. Although the customer service is shady, i havent had a problem with my tab so far. The best part is there is so much support on ainol forums. Today i flashed a new rom on my Ainol Venus tab and am getting 6 hours screen time

. Earlier i used to get only 4.

^Ainol are great Tablets than the ones mentioned beforehand on this thread.
