E63 screen resolution is not so good. Totally insignificant when budget Is 12k.

Nokia c6 though looks good, may not be comparable to spica In usability.

Seriously speaking, you do need to try other platforms or least wait for Nokia n8. Unless you try other OS, you will not understand how stale symbian s60 has become.

Strange, you are quality conscious but you still prefer nokia!Wake up!!Those Korean companies have improved a lot over the last couple of years, and your favourite Finnish giants are going backwards. What has nokia given us in last one year? Some overpriced N series phones(except N86),their so called hi-end phone N97 was a joke,5800 was good only because it was cheap and now that geometry box they called N900.I am no fan of Samsung or LG,but atleast they are trying to improve,I have used a samsung omnia hd,it has the same crappy symbian o.s as in nokia N97 but somehow it is a far superior than N97.
It hardly matters wheather they are made in Korea or Finland.BTW iphone is designed in California but assembled in China . Oh,forgot to ask one thing ,what motorola linux are you talking about?

Then how come Nokia uses components made by those cheap made in Korea companies. Most of the display screens used by Nokia are either made by Samsung or LG. Not just nokia, most of the other manufacturers use displays. processors, ROM's, Flash memory made by Samsung/LG. Even Dell, HP, Compaq use samsung/LG/Viewsonic panels in their Laptops.

Wake up *www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/products/Products.html

These are just some of the OEM suppliers for Nokia viz, AU Optronics, Chungwa Picture Tubes, Hitachi Displays, LG Display, Philips Electronics, Samsung SDI, Seiko Epson, Sharp, Tatung and Toshiba.

I'm no fan of either samsung or Lg, but think before you speak instead of bashing blindly.

How come samsung semiconductors is top OEM supplier if they didn't have any standards???

Nokia used to have some innovative models in past , not now. It's Time to move on.

Chill guys..I am not here to prove which one is best and other is inferior..I hate samsung products.. its my own experience and I'm not at all interested in OEM of semiconductors..lol

What my point was..someone compared Samsung vs Nokia..and as per the quality Nokia wins in every range..Go for samsung cheap handsets of rs1500 and compare it with Nokia 2 year back model...Nokia still rules.

How cool is the touch screen of samsung ?? One model of corby and they launched 12-14 models of same products...What about the quality of customer care samsung has ??

Ps : Check out the real data which products gets sold in the market..samsung or nokia ?? lol There are less samung fans..If samsung products are good enough -why less ??

I read somewhere above about omnia HD standard comparision with nokia models ??..Have you checked the real data than blaming the "n" series and higher price.

Have you tried the galaxy series?? Then we'll talk about touch response. I don't understand you are comparing Nokia's resistive touch screens with Samsung's Capacitive models. For your info even the cheapest corby has better response than 5800, you can try it yourself :)

I for one, have both 5800 and Spica, infact being a blind nokia fan that I was back then (1100>6600>N70>N73>5800) , bought 5800 on the very first day, had some initial firmware niggles, then comes the ridiculous price cut, and when we all signed petitions for kinetic scrolling, it was released long after I lost interest in 5800.That being a carl ziess 3.2MP lens shoots worse pictures than my 6600.The only highlight of this phone is the fantastic speakers.Nothing comes close to this in terms of music quality and virtual surround. Though I still have it with v50 update, I seldom use it.

Now coming to the sales figure, how many 5230's and 5233's are being sold when compared to corby and star series?? I think the sales equation are slowly turning against Nokia, though it is still market leader now, other manufactures are catching up. It's time we look at "other good products" other than Nokia.

WHEN?? when half of the market is running after corby pro and stuff, when would they release??
When you have a demand for a product you should en-cash it. If nokia would have launched N900 when it had a huge following, many would have bought it. So is the case with X6 and now the 'C' series??

Sir, b4 u read further on u must know that i write this with no personal grudge, how can i when i don't even knw u.

anyway's commin to the point, please try to understand that a lot of people, more or less like myself visit this forum looking for valuable suggestions and considering, we buy our cell phones and other electronics. Maybe u are a hotshot but ppl like us don't have the luxury of buying a cell phone every month!

Yes the latest platform is the android and its fast and blah blah blah, and if i had the cash and all, "we" don need ppl like u to tell me to get the android platform, even the uneducated shpkeeper knows that and he can well guide us through!

Please read the topic of the forum! He needs a phone in 12k, android phones just only start begening form that range or if i am not wrong a bit higher. Maybe a few do come, but they are all entry level, correct me if i am wrong.

And as far as ur assumption of the C series goes, its releasing on 15th July, and i have personally seen a C6 and i can vouch for its querty and software, yes agreed its nothing like the so called "android" but sir its an excellent buy for 12.5-13k. I'm no ambassador of NOKIA as i bought my bro a samsung monte with capacitive touch day b4, but i am smart enough to realize that at 12-13k even without a capacitive touch, it beats all models of samsung in the same range hands down.

If u have used the C6 and then ur saying this statement then ur a hypocrite, else a fool.

so please b4 attcking someones thread next time, consider that fact that ppl over come here to actually ask for favors in helping them buy a gadget and not for a show of ur personal EGO and hatred against NOKIA. Yes the symbain is gettin slowly phased out, but it KICKED ass, and as far as i'm concerned it still has some juice left in it.

Ur post show u have a lot of knowledge in this field most probably more than me, so stop being a je&k and help us genuinely instead of blabbering on to ppl and suggesting them to stay away from Symbian.

Please read the topic of the forum! He needs a phone in 12k, android phones just only start begening form that range or if i am not wrong a bit higher. Maybe a few do come, but they are all entry level, correct me if i am wrong.

a phone that has same amount of RAM that Nokia C6 has, 2x times faster CPU, better touch/display, better OS is entry level Andriod?

Let me clarify. Till now, Android market was dominated by HTC and Motorola who released high end phones with lot of gizmos and naturally, given the attention that Andrioid is getting, they priced all the phones above 20k. Now, just that Samsung released similar phone for lower price doesn't mean that it is entry level low quality phone.

And as far as ur assumption of the C series goes, its releasing on 15th July, and i have personally seen a C6 and i can vouch for its querty and software, yes agreed its nothing like the so called "android" but sir its an excellent buy for 12.5-13k. If u have used the C6 and then ur saying this statement then ur a hypocrite, else a fool.

Now, we have a phone (samsung Spica) that is selling really well, is applauded by user base as a stable and quality device, has lot of support from developers, getting lot of custom made ROMs, has huge app market, has minimal complaints from users. On the other hand we have a phone (Nokia C6) that is not yet released and is based on dying OS and hardware. How did you determine that C6 is better? And you say that you are smart enough to realize that? How can you be that smart that you can judge which phone is better when you have used neither? And if you were that smart, you would've stopped your bro from buying Monte (that has shitty OS and is worth nothing) and instead got him 5800XM atleast.

so please b4 attcking someones thread next time, consider that fact that ppl over come here to actually ask for favors in helping them buy a gadget and not for a show of ur personal EGO and hatred against NOKIA. Yes the symbain is gettin slowly phased out, but it KICKED ass, and as far as i'm concerned it still has some juice left in it.

again, taking a decision based on past performance is not a good thing to do. yes, symbian WAS good. WAS! It may have some juice left but there are litres and litres of juice available elsewhere :)

You yourself agreed that Symbian is slowly getting phased out, then why are you suggesting a phone that is based on this ageing OS? is it just because you trust Nokia?

TO THE THREAD STARTER : my suggestion is u wait just for about 15 days or so till the C series comes out, if it is a flop, well this guy is always there for other suggestions i guess

and WTF is this KP550? FYI, I know Sriharsha personally. He is not some big shot. He doesn't need to look at some spec sheet online to compare phones. He too had limited budget of 15k when he got Spica. He thought a lot before moving to Symbian. He was loyal to Symbian till he started using Andriod (and I followed the same path). what he said may be a bit harsh on you but it is true. Nokia is being trumped from all sides by Samsung. Me too had bad feelings about Samsung mobile phones but lately they have been making some really good phones and the market share shows the same. One can't be at no.2 with huge market share if they are making bad phones.
I had enough of this "I am Nokia" posts lately. Being loyal to brands like Apple helps coz they innovate but Nokia lately has been doing renovation which is not at all helping and hence I left that camp.
Recently when I used N900 for a month (for testing) and when I returned to 5800XM, I felt relief that I am back on this phone but when I got HTC Legend, I never looked back at 5800XM and sold if off without second thought. And am not the only one. There are many such SYmbian users who moved to Android and iphone OS platforms and are happy customers now.

To THE THREAD STARTER: Unles you are a NOkia loyalist, go and get Samsung Spica or get Samsung Galaxy if you can pay a bit more. Do remember that Spica has DivX support and it's 800MHz proccy makes Android run really fast. And Android 2.2 (coming out soon) increases performance many fold.

PS: Don't judge a phone by looking at a table or by looking at brand logo.

Buddy, you have been here for a long time. In current market, only Trust doesn't work and you know that. And N79 looks seriously limited if you compare it to the functionality that devices like Spica has.

I used to go gaa gaa over Symbian S60 and 5800XM and in fact I recommended this phone to many. But not now. This is not Nokia's time. Also, am eagerly waiting to see how N8/S^3 does. It's a new platform and I can't suggest it to users till it looks stable. And till that time, it's Android/iPhone FTW! :)

@neeraj, I said this before and I am telling again. Why are you looking at paper specs when comoaring?

1. Spica display Is 16m color tft.
2. Spica has HSDPA.
3. Even with lower resolution, Spica display looks much better
4. Spica audio quality is very neutral and intact better than 5890xm's audio quality
5. And please don't tell ke about apps. ovi store literally sucks when compared to Android market.
6. Though 5800 xm has 3.2 mp camera, it sucks. same is with Spica cam too.
7. By divx playback, I meant out if the box support.
8. More importantly, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk integration. you can say that you can install apps for the same but it come nowhere close to what a feature integrated into the OS gives.

it is the overall functionality of Android with nicely built hardware is what makes Spica so good.

so stop lolling and get your facts right!

Even I don't have personal grudges against anyone here :)

And I'm no hotshot and I'm very conscious while spending money on good products for long term use. If it is worth it then I might think of spending on it, I don't buy anything just for the sake of buying it to showoff and neither do I have the luxury/money to get a new phone every month. If I really had that much, I would have been the first Froyo user here ( Sorry kalpik :p)

I'm no geek here, I too take suggestions from members of this forum before going for pricey products, 12k is not a small amount for anyone, So I don't like people suggesting EOL products and those with no specific user reviews, its not a small amount to take such risks, since these are long term investments for people like us.

All we do is give you the info, pros and cons, alternatives. Finally its your money and your choice as to which one you should be going for.

Yes the latest platform is the android and its fast and blah blah blah, and if i had the cash and all, "we" don need ppl like u to tell me to get the android platform, even the uneducated shpkeeper knows that and he can well guide us through!

I think you are knowledgeable enough that I suggested spica for 12K,not even a penny higher. I haven't suggested X10 or Desire or N1, for you to say that.

Yes, you can happily buy it from a uneducated shopkeeper, who stopped you from doing that :)

Mind you that very uneducated shopkeeper might me more knowledgeable than "us", who knows !!! Stop having such perceptions.

And as far as ur assumption of the C series goes, its releasing on 15th July, and i have personally seen a C6 and i can vouch for its querty and software, yes agreed its nothing like the so called "android" but sir its an excellent buy for 12.5-13k.
Precisely that is what I was asking. Seeing it is one thing & using it for a brief period is another. You just can't judge a phone by going through it for a short period.

This shows that you have never tried them personally before making such statements. Mind you, you don't need to be some hotshot to try out mobiles, you can just borrow it from friends or else try them in a shop.

so please b4 attcking someones thread next time, consider that fact that ppl over come here to actually ask for favors in helping them buy a gadget and not for a show of ur personal EGO and hatred against NOKIA. Yes the symbain is gettin slowly phased out, but it KICKED ass, and as far as i'm concerned it still has some juice left in it.

Ur post show u have a lot of knowledge in this field most probably more than me, so stop being a je&k and help us genuinely instead of blabbering on to ppl and suggesting them to stay away from Symbian.
self contradictory statements!!!! So you want a person to spend his hard earned cash on some EOL product, when he can go for a better phone at same cost.

Now that says it all, who's a hypocrite/fool here.

TO THE THREAD STARTER : my suggestion is u wait just for about 15 days or so till the C series comes out, if it is a flop, well this guy is always there for other suggestions i guess
We always are :) here to help and try to caution people from getting obsolete stuff.

+1+1+1+1+1+1 ha ha..very nice specially the beginning "sir"

This thread should be made sticky...coz till the time I wrote some burst blowing down..I want others to follow

Funny peoples fighting for a thread for 12k phones including me..guys we're not Samsung or Nokia ambassadors ?? are we ??
I'm saying it again 12k is not a small amount to gamble with wrong choice.

@desi you mentioned that spica support divx..lol Do you know nokia 5800xm support it too ??
He meant out of the box Divx/ Xvid support, you want to compare third party codecs here, I'm in :))
I think most of you samsung lovers haven't tried the full juice of 5800xm capabilities..the customization, freaky music, amazing list of software,games...etc.
We tried all the voodoo stuff on 5800 before keeping it away my friend ;)
Customization is not symbian's cup of tea my friend, peep into andoid and iPhone platforms to see what customization is.
You just said "amazing list of softwares" did you :clap2:
Sometimes Ignorance is bliss :meditate:

Can you compare the sound quality of Samsung phones with Nokia ?? If you're than there is no point in explaining further.
I think I said this before, 5800's speaker output rocks, jack output samsung scores better.
Mind you only 5800, apart from that all other Nokia/Samsung sound similar at that cost.

Does 800mhz processor and andriod makes samsung phones up than nokia ??lol
 seriously you even want to compare this :p
off course I forget to write its about TFT Capacitive Touchscreen, 65K Colors of Spica vs TFT Touchscreen, 16M Colors of Nokia 5800xm...lol

No its about 320X480 display size of spica vs 640X360 display size of 5800xm ??

No its about 3G of spica and HSDPA- 3.6 Mbps of nokia 5800 ??

Audio player of Spica -MP3 / AMR / AAC / AAC+ / E-AAC+ vs nokia 5800xm MP3, AAC, AAC+, EAAC+, WMA, WAV, RA, M4A (Apple Lossless), MP4, AMR ?

3.2 Mega Pixels Camera With Autofocus of spica or 3.2 Mega Pixels With Dual LED Flash & Autofocus

If you really knew what you are talking about, then I think you might know that 65K was the limit that Android 1.5 had on all devices irrespective of what the display is capable of. FYI Spica is 16M capable, check the specs from some reputed sites, not crappy ones.

Don't tell me about the camera quality of 5800. Everyone knows about it. I've experienced it first hand.

360x640 is resolution my friend, not screen size. Both are 3.2 Inch screens and infact Spica's bigger & better. Check it out yourself :)

Regarding display quality, let the picture speak, both on zero brightness levels.

<quote>
Does 800mhz processor and andriod makes samsung phones up than nokia ??lol
</quote>
Classic fanboyism! Such comments make it only worse.

I already told you it's my opinion and I still love Nokia offcourse Samsung still sucks and will ALWAYS !!!

Can't you see the point ?? Spica launched on 17 Nov 2009 and Nokia 5800xm launched somewhere in September, 2008..One year old Nokia phone is still the hot device in the market..the best selling phone and still people compare it with Spica lol ??

5800xm rocks..and you're telling me about the andriod market ?? If you have really tried and compared it with Nokia ovi..Andriod is just copying stuff and games from OVI..Its ok to comment that Spica has better hardware coz its new in market :D Nokia 5800xm is about to reach 2 years dude..and spica is just a kid long way to go..and till the time spica will try to get some market..nokia n8 gonna cost somewhere down the line and then spica will never exist and other models of Samsung will also be lost somewhere...lol ??

No way you can compare Spica with 5800XM music quality..no way dude..wake up....No way Spica music quality can be compared with 5800XM..lol Now you're really making me laugh.

ovi store is nothing compared to Android market.
I don't agree because Honestly, I never felt any lack of apps. but then maybe its just me.

having the functionality integrated into the Andriod OS/UI is always much better than dedicated apps
Yes, True.Integration is good with native apps that is gtalk in andriod but that level can be achieved with third party apps like fring, nimbuzz.

Spica aka andriod market are catching up. Still there are many things missing from android which Symbian has like Python Support.wonder how long it would take to catchup :D :D

I would kick Symbian for Android or iPhone anyday. But sticking because of the value it gives me. using 5800 and its got every feature a modern smart-phone should have mail & calendar with sync, full html browser(Social networking),Good connectivity(3g,wifi), storage(>=8Gigs),lots of apps, good music player, etc just at a cheaper price. whereas Android or iPhone are costly with comparable features would cost much more.

Android doesn't do video calling (yet). all these phones doesn't come with front facing camera
Don't comment people doesn't use video calling in India..you yourself commented that you buy and use phone for almost 2 years somewhere...september 3g will begin hopefully.. You wont change your phone every 6 months...lol

What about heavy texting users :: If your key requirement is heavy texting then android had a terrible onscreen keyboard the worst I have seen in a touch phone(android 2.1 is the same in terms of keypad performance).

Spica drawback is that it doesn't support multi touch input and its total ram is just 160MB causing lag sometimes same as 5800 old firmware does..not with v50 :D

Regarding cost : Senhiser headset that comes with Nokia 5800XM...

Only 2 cons for this phone:

- Software not as good as Android
- Processing power

But if you look at the advantages:

- Video calling when 3 g launches:mrgreen:
- My familiarity with Nokia OS making it breeze to use
- Great camera for my budget with Carl Zies Lens @somewhere you said 5800xm camera is poor..I was asking to compare it with Spica..and do post pics of yours and I will post mine ?? If you really want to compare..If you're looking for a camera phone in this budget..there are many other available options.

- Perhaps the best resistive touch screen I have used:mrgreen:
-8 gb onboard memory:shock:
-full lifetime Nokia voice navigation with maps

Check out that samsung India updated details of phone on web site in may 2010..too lazy people..I hate samsung customer care...there service centers..Do compare there service center with Nokia..:D:D

More to come..If time permits me :shock:

So what you say is 13.8K 5800 is cheaper than 12K Spica??

Don't comment people doesn't use video calling in India..you yourself commented that you buy and use phone for almost 2 years somewhere...september 3g will begin hopefully.. You wont change your phone every 6 months...lol
I for one have been using 3G on 5800 for the last three months, I have used Video call just ONCE. It's so irritating to start with. Voice call is better for the time being.

What about heavy texting users :: If your key requirement is heavy texting then android had a terrible onscreen keyboard the worst I have seen in a touch phone(android 2.1 is the same in terms of keypad performance).
I have no doubt you have never used it :)
Spica drawback is that it doesn't support multi touch input and its total ram is just 160MB causing lag sometimes same as 5800 old firmware does..not with v50 :D
Again the same, compare v50 5800 with 2.2 Spica, and its not 160MB, it has 128MB RAM.
Regarding cost : Senhiser headset that comes with Nokia 5800XM...
You must be kidding about the quality of those bundled senn!!!!

I compared the features for 13.5k with spica :D

I for one have been using 3G on 5800 for the last three months, I have used Video call just ONCE. It's so irritating to start with. Voice call is better for the time being.

Just that you cant make it..blaming the handset:mrgreen::mrgreen:

soon doesn't count..its right now that counts
.

You still are not getting my point...and keep arguing with spica vs 5800. Its my personal opinion that Samsung sucks badly in quality and cheap build..then you run away with features..than OS..andriod market..then price of 13.5k compared with 12k...

The bottom line from my opinion is the quality of Samsung Phones are too bad to give them a chance..

You compared sound quality of Spica with 5800XM..Now I doubt you ever tried 5800xm.

You haven't replied to the Customer care part ?? You haven't replied to the pictures that I wrote to compare..Headset Quality-Free is better than nothing..and they are better than the headset ever supplied with Spica :mrgreen:

One says that Spica has better Android software and processing power. but still says it is nothing before 5800 xm.
other says that Hd hates Samsung and hence chooses 5800 xm over Spica. guys, you are here to suggest a best bang for buck phone for a fellow digital, not to show off your loyalty on a brand and dislike on another brand. Being. Blogger, you need to put product quality before personal feeling else you will be treated as one of those biased writers floating over the internet.

Samsung Phone Explodes in Face: "
*i792.photobucket.com/albums/yy206/neerajvohra/samsung-phone-explodes-e12738637963.jpg

In a shocking incident a Samsung phone on Verizon exploded in the face of a user reports Gizmodo. The user dropped the phone inside his car and the phone exploded rendering the man shocked.Luckily the person is not blind and did not suffer any serious injuries. We are not sure if the phone was misused or deliberately made to explode. Anyway its shocking to hear. Looks like the battery inside the phone exploded.

And this is how the phone looks when it’s not a bomb !

*images.fonearena.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/samsung-rogue.jpg

Whom do you blame for the phone turning into a bomb ? The user , Maker of the Phone – Samsung or Phone’s Carrier – Verizon ?

Again u have no answer to nokia battery explosions question asked by harsh and Instead you divert the topic to personal attacks. Pathetic. You give half true facts and when questioned, you call the questioning ad as foolishness. I asked you already to provide solid facts and you post one isolated Incident on blown battery and think of it as Samsung problem. Nokia batteries exploded few years ago and nokia did mass battery recall, what do you think about that? According to your earlier concclusions, It should make Nokia far worse in handset quality. As I said earlier, your posts only make it worse. With half knowledge, your posts are worth nothing.

napster : so please b4 attcking someones thread next time, consider that fact that ppl over come here to actually ask for favors in helping them buy a gadget and not for a show of ur personal EGO and hatred against NOKIA. Yes the symbain is gettin slowly phased out, but it KICKED ass, and as far as i'm concerned it still has some juice left in it.
napster : I'm no ambassador of NOKIA as i bought my bro a samsung monte with capacitive touch day b4, but i am smart enough to realize that at 12-13k even without a capacitive touch, it beats all models of samsung in the same range hands down.
napster : Please read the topic of the forum! He needs a phone in 12k, android phones just only start begening form that range or if i am not wrong a bit higher. Maybe a few do come, but they are all entry level, correct me if i am wrong.
napster : Yes the latest platform is the android and its fast and blah blah blah, and if i had the cash and all, "we" don need ppl like u to tell me to get the android platform, even the uneducated shpkeeper knows that and he can well guide us through!

neeraj: Can you compare the sound quality of Samsung phones with Nokia ?? If you're than there is no point in explaining further.
neeraj: 65K Colors of Spica vs TFT Touchscreen, 16M Colors of Nokia 5800xm...lol
neeraj: No its about 3G of spica and HSDPA- 3.6 Mbps of nokia 5800 ??
neeraj: No way you can compare Spica with 5800XM music quality..no way dude..wake up....No way Spica music quality can be compared with 5800XM..lol Now you're really makine laugh. (note: neeraj IMO haven't tested Spica's audio quality and his assumption is based on brand name)

a quote from gsmarena on audio quality of Spica

The Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica is not only pretty loud with hearphones connected but also capable of providing high quality audio output.
The cut-off extreme bass frequencies and the higher-than-average intermodulation distortion are its only shortcommings but none of them is too bad actually. And the rest of the readings are just great and comparable to the best in class.
source: *www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i5700_galaxy_spica-review-465p5.php
and our neeraj without even trying the phone came to conclusion that these two phones are galaxies apart in audio quality. now, should I say lol?

neeraj: 5800xm rocks..and you're telling me about the andriod market ?? If you have really tried and compared it with Nokia ovi..Andriod is just copying stuff and games from OVI [should I say megaLOL here?]
neeraj: Still there are many things missing from android which Symbian has like Python Support.wonder how long it would take to catchup
neeraj: I would kick Symbian for Android or iPhone anyday. But sticking because of the value it gives me.
neeraj: using 5800 and its got every feature a modern smart-phone should have
neeraj: 8 gb onboard memory (5800XM)

napster: Leave it dude... i figured out from his first reply that this harsha guy cant get plain English
neeraj: Sums up.. @napster007 you are right my friend..I don't blame them fools..but everyone here has his own knowledge and experience

The final two comments really really make me scratch my head.

@neerajvohra : How many instances should we show of a nokia Phone exploding and battery ?
cmon dont say that its less compared to Samsung..

There are many such SYmbian users who moved to Android and iphone OS platforms and are happy customers now.

ok I admit I am one of those early symbian lover :p..

I used to gaga over symbian phones specially Nokia..

at those times I had a N73 and I just loved every bit of it the speaker sound the cam quality, apps and everything.. It got damaged somehow and I moved on to Samsung I450 the crappiest symbian phone I know !!!..

That time samsung was a newbie to symbian world and nokia had it all but samsung truly got its setup done fast and now I personally rate it as the best Company for making products for the masses..

just compare the OMNIA HD with N97.. I used N97 and said ewww people going mad over this piece of crap..

My friend got omnia HD recently that phone has one of the crappiest UI after using android/iphone I am telling this.. but the phone is better than then the N97 in every case and it outperforms the iphone screen quality which used to be rated the best having the same resolution as spica :)

The SPB Shell which was released for symbian made the UI GOOD though :)

but I will still rate it just ok.. Nokia lacks innovation they are just making what they made back then.. removing 1 feature at a time in phone and renaming model names thats innovation for them..

Android is the future OS.. and it will have the widest support and number of apps in the coming future..

Symbian sucks when it comes to UI.. it is just a basic smartphone..

move to windows/android/osx and know what UI is..

people who are comparing capacitive touch with resistive are nuts and should get a life seriously :)..

Samsung is beating nokia in every price segment I know..

except for the 5230 range.. But I still like the corby more if you don't need a smartphone :)

Getting to the first post Get the Spica.. Literally 5800 is nothing infront of it :) (Someone up for a debate should get there facts straight before responding to this point.. except the higher reso and speaker sound there is nothing good in the 5800 and its screen quality is also just ok )

@Neeraj & napstar,
What is wrong with you guys?Almost everyone posted in this thread have or had 5800 and we all loved it,it has a nice screen, good s.q etc.etc.and above all it was probably the best vfm phone till couple of months ago.But at present spica is definitely a better option.
1.o.s. android is miles ahead of symbian, specially with touch screen.I used 5800 for about a year but still cannot remember the single and double tap thing.
2.screen resolution and display:Well,I hope you have seen iphone ,which has a resolution lesser than 5800,but does it make iphone`s display any inferior to 5800?My point is ,at a display of 3.2 inches normal human eye cannot differentiate a minor change of resolution.Same goes with colour support,16M colour only produces some difference in shades of black which is appreciable with human eye, other colour enhancements are negligible(even if you compare with 65k)
3.Music and sound quality:This is interesting.Sound quality of 5800 is good but it is probably a tad bright at places, where as spica gives you a balanced rather neutral sound,so for a casual listner 5800 may sound marginally better, but with an headphone amp.spica should sound better(i am not 100% sure as I have not tested it with an amp,but almost all neutral sounding players behave this way)
Do not really want to talk about the hardware part,it is available all over internet, and hardware wise nokia sucks as usual.
The only thing that goes in 5800`s side is that, it has a proper 16:9 aspect ratio(I hope you know why is it important)
And finally, DO NOT argue with Bond or Sriharsh when it come to mobile phones, they really know what they are talking about.

Hi All & Thread starer :),

Few days back, I bought Samsung Galaxy Spica and I was quite much impressed with its features for that money. I was planning to buy a mobile from last december and finally got this one. My budget was upto 25K, though I got this one for its Value for Money. And I am completely satisfied till now. (Hope the same in future)

Thanks God, I was not a nokia fan right from the days of 3310. :) Earlier SE Fan :)

But I went for ROKR E6 3 years back... and totally satisfied with it.. (Completely loaded google maps of chennai, ilock, mplayer which can play avi, vob, .... xmms, dos, :D)
@Desi bond: Hope u remember our healthy discussion abt ROKR E6 that time. And Sure, few more bought E6 that time seeing the thread. (Sorry for off-topic) :D

And later was Windows Mobile Fan.. and so went for HTC... and was not that much satisfied with it.. Got touch the first week of its launch :) lot of bugs and unstable one... :(

I dislike Nokia for its lack of innovation skills.. and I hate ppl going blindly saying a brand name.. Grrrrrrrrrr!! :D

I see, samsung is giving great value for money, ofcourse they have to increase quality of their build, service.. :( But I feel, samsung is there to survive and get their business growing.. (I am not sure of Nokia, lets see how their Maemo comes...)

@Thread Starter,
But dont go for Galaxy i7500.. I felt few months back its great buy for its OLED display, 8gB onboard memory.. But its not. :(

But, I dont feel Galaxy spica i5700 wont suit every one. Its good for multimedia features, Browsing, modding, as a smart phone. But not for the ones who use the mobile as mobile:D

And Dont ever trust shop keepers. Decide it in www. And then go, Get it.

My salute for i9000 Galaxy... Best specification i wuld say... if ts priced below 28K... it wil surely have a great market here...

My vote for Galaxy Spica.. :)

(All above, To my sense :) )
Hope so, many Geeks will feel the same :D

It can be a healthy discussion, but was given many contradicting thoughts... :???:

I was a mute spectator of this forum for the past 1 year or so... But xploded Now:D

I feel, they too surely will come out of Nokia circle.. in few year time.. :)

The topic creator should have gone:banghead::pullhair: by now!!

For all those who still feel Nokia and Symbian are the best.
I used to be on your boat since i bought 6600>>N72 >>N73. When Android came out, I was like " LOL yet another OS only to be doomed with in a year or so. No one can beat Symbian". Been thinking my friends' 5800 the best value for money smartphone with best touch experience.
Then happened to experience "star". Touch, though being resistive is so much better and haptic feedback was some thing i was really impressed.

An year later here I am using an android "spica". Need less to say how I feel now.

Guys, If you have experienced android or iphone ever in your life and still feel Nokia and its three legged symbian are the best. Kudos to you. Nokia owe to you guys.

Nokia should change with changing times. I hope they are in right direction with symbian^4. After spica, My frnd's N97 (bought at 30K bucks) looks so stupid.

I would say Spica, because even though Galaxy has a gorgeous AMOLED display and 5MP cam, sadly Samsung stopped upgrades for Galaxy. So you're kind of stuck with 1.5 on Galaxy.

If Galaxy had 2.1 then no doubt I would suggested to ignored the 800Mhz processor of Spica :p and go for Galaxy. Battery issues were a rumor, I checked my friend's Galaxy for a day, by killing background tasks , and battery life is comparable to Spica.

I would say Spica with 2.1 for now and looking at samsung's firmware support history, I'm not sure whether they come up with 2.2 for Spica or not.

This might sound like an anti-climax after all this ;), but if you can strech your budget, then go for HTC's Android phones. Reason, better support from both company and custom ROM's,MODS from communities.

Hi,

No i7500 doesnt have 2.1 update!!

I personally used Both i5700 and i7500...

i5700 vs i7500
TFT - OLED
Capacitive Touch - Resistive Touch
less than 200MB - 8GB Onboard Memory
More RAM - Less RAM (Not sure of exact size)
3.2. MP - 5MP Camera
No LED Flash - LED Flash
800MHz - 528MHz Procy
Newer Architecture Procy/Board - Old
Divx Support - No by default

Go for Spica... I like the Display of I7500 and its 8GB Memory. But its slow.. :(
Touch sensitivity is Very Good in Spica.

don't go for wildfire. the lower resolution screen may not be worthy. and yes, HTC hero already has 2.1 upgrade in some parts of USA and custom ROMs are already available. among Spica and hero, I would definitely choose Hero. and if u take the budget to 25k, legend and milestone are terrific options. if support is not a problem look for HTC desire or nexus one.

I highly doubt the pricing of X10 mini, its available in US for $410 that is around 18.5K
Even in case of X10, an unlocked one from US costs around $700 roughly 32k, similar to the pricing here. So how's 13.5K possible ??

I told you what i gathered. it can be a bit high in places like bangalore and likewise.. given I get my prices directly from the distributor and buy it from them.Wholesale prices are a lil low. Wont be more than 14.5k in any case. And the Indian pricing does not reflect the US pricing.. it generally reflects the trend in sweden where it is selling for 260 euros.

Dude, Both have capacitive touch screens.
------------
I would not recommend X10mini(it looks a dwarf) or wildfire becas of their screen resolutions.
I checked tattoo(it too has 320x240) long back and android was not as beautiful as it is on other phones. It looks pixellated and doesn't support many apps out there.
More over it was resistive touch so that put me off completely. I think a minimum resolution of 320x480 is good for android os.

If there is any phone that i wud trade my spica for its gonna be N1. Main reason is extensive 3rd party ROM availability and direct google updates.

I had a clear look at Xperia X10 Mini's specs and isn't the screen too small for a smarphone? and also the rated talktime is at 4hrs (GSM 2G). The biggest problem with be tasks like web browsing and gaming. The 240x320 resolution 2.55" display can be Achilles heel to this phone. While it's main competitors will have a higher resolution and 3.2" display, this one will look really mini :) On the bright side, from online previews, this looks to be one hell of a phone on performance.

:) Well. There are a few apps in the market which work fine, but given the punitive size of the Mini, I would say the inbuilt player works pretty well. This phone will gel with the ladies and people who dont want to move around carrying brink. I however expect the pro version to be really popular though. It is sized and specced perfect IMO.The Mini by far is the fastest budget android in the market. Am guessing that would be a plus.
