My Galaxy Note2 has gone kaput and I intend to buy a new phone.

Need a decent camera
Good Music Player.

1. Budget? (5k but can stretch it if really required)
2. Display type and size?
3. Dual sim?(No)
4. Preferred choice of brand?( Preferably branded)
5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)? Flash and Front Facing Camera
6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc). Android
7. Preferred connectivity options (3G, 4G ready). 4G if it comes in the budget
8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)?Listening to Songs primarily and then Taking photos.
9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration? Redmi or Yureka
10. Any other info that you want to share
If I can get a decent phone for 5k then maybe I would get a better phone for my anniversary as gift later in the year.

If you want better camera and performance, get Yureka else Redmi 2.

I have been using my mom's Redmi1s for the past 2 weeks and somehow not liking the feel etc.
I know my previous phones like Note2 and S2 were way expensive than Redmi but I hardly had any issues with the former with regards to phone looking laggy.
I'm worried about Redmi. Also thinking about Yureka. Does it have good ASS?

- - - Updated - - -

How about Lenovo A 6000 and also heard about new launch of Yu model end of April.
Also Moto E 2nd Generation.

Redmi 2 is much better than Redmi 1s better speakers,MIUI v6 is lot smoother than v5,supports 4G in both SIMs,Camera is decent too.

Moto E 2nd gen is a good phone too.

But is overpriced by 1500 compared to Yureka.

Don't worry bro.. Booking a yureka is pretty simple.. I booked mine on a pathetic 512kbps.. Register for the sale and log on to your amazon account 30 mins before sale and wait for the timer to reach zero.. The moment it reaches 0, the"buy now" button will appear..click on it immediately and wait for the page to process/load..The yureka should be in your cart and you will have to place the order within 15 Mins.

I guess I will have to book it on a weekday and during working hours. In that case the website will be blocked here at office. It will connect on client network but that will be pathetically slow.

Snapdragon 400 with 1 GB of ram is pretty standard now a days. So if you are not looking to overkill the device I might still pick up redmi 2 or else see if you can get A6000+ coz by then zenphone 2 official pricing will also be out. So you could end up making a better decision.

I thought this one doesn't have NFC as compared to Note2

SoC= System On Chip = CPU + GPU (basically)
Note 2 has Exynos 4412 while Yureka has 64-bit Snapdragon 615

Crapwiz (touchwiz actually :p ) is the stock rom in Note 2 while Yureka comes with CM11s (kitkat) while CM12s (Lollipop) is rolling out for it since yesterday.

Note 2 also lacks Gorilla Glass 3 which Yureka has.

If so is the yureka is a far better option coz of SD 615 and latest version of cm. Lenovo is a a bit harsh on the skin which I don't like and along that with cm you get the best of customization. And by overkill I mean to use the phone for extreme gaming and other intensive tasks for prolong period of time.

Seriously considering this option.
But almost same specs getting for less than 3k tilts little bit towards Yureka.

I agree in a way,
Samsung,HTC,Apple,Xiaomi seem to be beating around the bush
releasing the same stuff with minor changes and forget to support the previous gen phones or if they do ,they will cripple performance so you are forced to change your phone unless you are good with custom roms/downgrading etc
I think its time for new blood in the market, the current companies arent good enough anymore

I can do with higher pricing but not with over pricing (E.g. Azom/Clevo laptops and MSI are both higher priced but MSI ones are way overpriced).

Both samsung and apple have done nothing but made loads of money by ripping people off. Samsung's price drops are a classic example. Apple still haven't discontinued 2-3 year older devices and still selling it. (4s for 20k  ).

OS is another reason why I don't like them. Touchwiz still looks ugly and won't be better than AOSP roms. Where as iOS is locked and I'd literally break open that lock (jailbreak) than wait for locksmith (Apple's iOS devs) to make a new "innovative" key (feature) which allows user to drag drop content to-and-from PCs after maybe 10-15 years.

Don't know why u keep saying only about Samsung, when LG, Sony, HTC too have similar high pricing for devices..

What's wrong with dropping prices after a period of time? Every company has has their own strategy. Motorola was selling moto g at a price which was low at launch time. But that price cant be justified now and can be called overpriced, Samsung's strategy is atleast better than this.

Samsung and apple made loads of money at the time coz there was simply no competition at the time and they were the best then out of the existing OEMs. Xiaomi, oneplus, Lenovo, Huawei, motorola have just emerged in last two yrs.

Even now if someone dint care abt money and wanted to get the best available would go for S6 or note 4.
S6/G4 still have huge demand. They are ripping off cos ppl, wilfully, are ready to get ripped off in exchange for the best.

Just tht there are other manufacturers now who are selling good stuff for less prices too, which was not the case earlier.

^^ No competition??? lol theres always competition ,how else would Nokia and Blackberry have such a steep decline to give way to samsung and apple??? they didnt magically become market leaders because there was no competition

S6 and Note 4 are overrated
I can see why people might buy an iphone, atleast it has something to offer- good apps, good build, status symbol, easy for older people(I still hate iphones personally)
I dont see why people would buy a samsung

^ It should be "I don't see why people would buy Samsung, Lg, HTC, Sony" if that's the case.

She has given indications that she wants a different OS this time.
She has used Windows, Android Based Phones so far.
But I think recently released Apple Phones are not that great.

Ooh If th indication is towards Ios a bomb on wallet is about to be dropped. But since she has already used android she won't be going to find it easily on Ios.
