Why does Nero StartSmart crash after running fine for 2-3 times ?
It shows an error that it caused an error in kernel32.dll

May be because of a virus.It happened to me once cos of WIN32.CIH virus.
[1] Try reinstalling Nero.
[2] Does th error occur in any other applications ?
[3] Scan ur hard disk with updated antivirus defs.
[4] If all this doesn't help, click [Start]>[Run]>'sfc /scannow'. This will scan ur system files and if any file is damaged, it will replace them. Keep ur Win XP CD handy.
[5] As a last resort, do a repair install of Win XP.

For Nero to work correctly in XP there is an update available called Nero Reloaded, it was given in the DIGIT DVD, go get it and install it. This should rectify your problem. You can get the updates from the Nero Website also is a big file download.

It depends upon which version of Nero u have the one which does not have the updates or the one which already have the updates.

Here to no problems with sp2 + nero 6 (latest version ) I think the problem is some wear else. Please do not blame sp2 for all the errors/ crashes one gets. Now even Zone alarm with the latest update has learned to coexist with sp2 So i would say Sp2 is to stay and keeping this in mind all the major software houses have made changes to accomadate sp2.

i have heard from several guyz that they r facing problems with nero wfter they installed SP2 ......... also SP2 created problems 4 some other s/ws too......... one being Partition magic

that depends on the version of nero hes using
5.x has issues with sp2
hence recommended is nero 6.0.13+

After I installed Nero 6.3.0.0 on my com which already has Win XP with SP2 and was about to use it to write a DATA CD, Nero itself gave up the error message which you can see by clicking here
And after this when i installed the NERO UPDATE (Nero Reloaded) from the DIGIT DVD, the problem was solved.

I have even tried the version 5.5.9 and it worked fine.techno_funky said:

DOwnload it (29 Mb) and search for a serial on illegal serial sites.
No probs.
