If u have no nic card, you can use serial-port-to-serial-port, or usb-to-usb, or bluetooth card/dongle to another to do the network. Which u use depends on the cost of the hardware and its availablity. I would not recommend a serial port one though.

U connect them with a hub or without a hub doesnt matter. If the machines are on the same lan 192.168.1 i.e one has 192.168.1.2 and other 192.168.1.3 then they'll see each other! I've experimented with it! And for ur problem u can try *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=305133&highlight=#305133

You can network computers by connecting their par ports or serial ports together with a simple two ended wire. But for usb, follow this link.
