Hi all,

You might have noticed the new website look - *www.thinkdigit.com/.

We've tried to include as much feedback as we could. The content now gets more space, fonts are bigger, navigation is easier, and an article page has lots of related content touch-points to enable you to jump between stories and discover more. We've also integrated some social features -- you can retweet a story or share it on your Facebook account, apart from the usual Digg/Stumbleupon.

A lot has changed, and a lot has been added. Please take some time to share your thoughts here.

I'll leave you with a teaser: expect some changes on the forum soon ;)

^^ Don't worry. Once you get used to it, you will be happy to have the new look.

---------- Post added at 06:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:57 PM ----------

few suggestion:

Move "Current Issue" to top left corner.

Keep Feature stories above Latest stories

An icon to discuss the story in Forum (next to digg and Stumble Upon). If the story discussion thread is not created in Forum, it will be created automatically and viewer will be taken to new thread else viewer will be taken to existing thread. This brings in more visitors to forum instead of pushing them to digg or SU.

The new look is just awesome. I really dont care about the ad's now as they are most important but strategically placed.

Now I would like to request the Digit Team to focus on forum. Though the new theme looks too boring but it's really light on system. But I would like to ask the Digit Team to make the forum wider. May be make the forum 98% wider and use the 2% for your side ad's.

A cool new look.... but please don't use blue or red color over black background :-x :x..... or try to use a darker shade.....:|

And also a faster one....:p:p:p
Keep up the work..................:smile::smile::smile::smile::smile::smile::smile:

New website look is nice, but the 'Stories layout' appears to similar to blog posts. Not appropriate for a website.

hi guys. You all are doing a great job. But the website is kind of slow.......i being a slow internet user who has transitioned from dial-up to broadband complain that in making the website look jazzy you have resulted in making it slow......Please think of some idea to make the website as well as the forum fast enough for the dial-up digitians :) and i have complain with the may issue....i am new to the forum so i do not know where to post this but think that you will respond. The skoar gaming booklet, as soon as it was opened almost came off!!!1Many pages did not even have the imprint of the staple pin.So, next time please do look out for this! :)

Hi,

The site's contents are good, but thing is that the layout is not getting rendered properly with Internet Explorer 7. I haven't checked it with other browsers. The menus are overlapping and it blocks all the content in the home page only those contents in the bottome of the page are visible.

The banner that has "Popular Categories", "Popular Articles" and so on.. is overlapping in the home page, guess this banner should be coming at the bottom of the page.

Hope this would get correct the next time I visit the site.

Regards,

Arun.

Why do people have have to wait 30 seconds between everytime reports are put up. There are multiple spam as it is but its possible to keep this place clean if such rules are put up.

What i don't like is the big add on the right side of the page which makes the forum width small. Also, where is the rep system? If not that, where are the stars etc? Why is the number of attachments restricted to just3. Why can't we use images for signatures. Hotlinking the image from another site like imageshack will not load the system will it. You can allow a max file size limit to 19kb.

Maybe you guys should have a system where lesser ADS will be displayed to those who are members and signed in. We all know ads are important for revenue purposes but come on!! So many ads? I hate using adblock plus because the layout looks ugly but I don't like to see flashing on my screen.
coderunknown

i use Adblock in Chrome. no ads at all. not even the flashing ones (turned off manually).

hi...i just registered on your website. Everything looked great and well organized except the downloads section. No doubt great software are available for download there but the shear haphazard organization was a turn off. You could categorize them like media, utility, antivirus, etc. It will really be great if it is easy to find the required software that way.

earlier this link would work even if one wasn't logged in

now it needs you to have signed in to get the list of active forum topics - very inconvinient

I have this URL as a bookmark in my browser. Earlier clicking on the link if i found come interesting thread, would log in to post, but now that it no longer works - out of sight out of mind

You may even be driving away 1st time visitors who may be looking to register. Instead of clicking on each sub-forum to see what kind of discussion happens, they could simply have used the link to get the info

Please make it accessible w/o having to sign in

Thanks

^^ a tech forum needs a batch of good contributors aka members, a good system to monitor everything & yes an ICO (grin). so i don't think looks matter that much. at least it makes loading the forum much faster & lighter to our eyes.

Why do people have have to wait 30 seconds between everytime reports are put up. There are multiple spam as it is but its possible to keep this place clean if such rules are put up.

Reporting only one post of a spammer is more than enough for us. :)

got an idea (Credit to XDA Forum). why not (if it is possible) let members with 100 or more post have less restriction? i am referring to the point brought forward by Sorcerer.

TDF forums are on one the slowest loading forums, please consider changing your hosting....why are you hosted in the US ? How about a dedicated server, somewhere in Europe ? I am sure you are not short on $$

I've done that to decrease the load on server. Anonymous queries increase the load.

Actually it is not possible through vBulletin. No such option.

I think just changing from Apache to nginx or lightppd might do the job. But then I don't work for Digit. :(

+1

Well...feedback thread is still on??

So many problems, and admins doesn't listen at all, won't blame mods, as they really listen us and inform admins about the issues. But we just don't want them to listen and sit quietly, but also to take actions(which they don't do at all).

At least I don't see any fix after the last feedback thread. And many members left, and some members visit on weekends just to check what's going on(Including me :p)

Well, this things have been already discussed many many times, but they didn't took action and we lost many experienced, knowledgeable and helpful members.

Anyway...if possible ADMINS please modify the forum. Not just one thing, everything is messed up, if possible do a complete modification. Get the new version of vBulletin if possible.

We have a new server now. And our forum now loads faster than any forum you'd name. yup, you heard it right. ;)

Regarding the many members who left, their wish. I've remained here since the day I registered regardless of every problem we faced. I'd also like to tell everyone that the activity of the whole forum in general has greatly increased since the last few months despite server outages.

Not just one thing, everything is messed up,
Please stop exaggerating. The only yet VERY HUGE problem which was left was the server being slow and MySQL errors. Both these problems should be FIXED now. I'll be switching back to the old Kirsch theme if people ask me to do so. This theme was meant to be light and help in decreasing the load.

Now that the site is fast and stable, maybe we can switch over to a new theme...or probably better, ico could tell us if we can migrate to latest vBulletin 4.1.2 (as on this date)...i know that would mean new license.

@ico, can you edit the theme or change it so the links in posts are shown in orange or some other colour. cause of the forum bg colour, links are really hard to spot many times when browsing from PC.
