I am thinking of buying nokia 3120.

If I want to use polyphonic tunes of popular tunes like the ones on indiatimes 8888, can I download them on nokia 3120?

I was told by nokia people that I had to atleast have nokia 6610 inorder to downlaod polyphonic tunes!

nokia 6610 costs a bomb. not in my budget. I can't afford to spend more than 5000-5550 bucks...

Also, fm radio would be nice. does 3120 offer this. I heard that one can get fm radio in handset accessory. is that true?

I have a computer. If i can't downlaod poly tunes, can I trasfer them through my computer by downlaoding them from net on computer??

plz HELP.

S

buy 3200
it has camera too

@d00by
3120 is a sexy looking fone..
people take it as 12-14k fone,
my one friend thought its 6230..since it looks pretty much like it.
3120 looks very good bcoz of that steel finish.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

Oops. I meant 6600 model. 6600 is supposed to cost rs. 14000!

The nokia guys at 30303838 number told me that I needed 6600 model to download polyphonic tunes..

I wonder why he told me this if one can download polyphonic tunes on 3120. That customer care guy on the phone was sounded awfully young (20-25 at the most)...

anyway, thanks for clearing this up..

One more thing, Do I get any free accessories along with 3120? I got the impression that 3120 comes with some free accessories!

Thanks for all the info.. 3120 looks like a fine phone to me. I'll probably end up buying this.

~d00by

N-3120 comes with standard accessories, i.e.battery n charger(ACP-12), nothing else.

6600 costs 13k not 14k

6610 has two added features, 1.FM Tuner-no need to buy the kit
2.has inbuilt modem.

Else, look wise 3120 is better.

Re: download polyphonic tunes in nokia 3120??

Congrats on new phone....

d00by said:

1st of all....
Activate the MMS on the phone(if not activated previously)
then... save the settings for the same.

2. Do the same for GPRS
remember.... GPRS has two plans one for just downloadin ringtones etc. and other for the full internet use on the pc.
But as already told... there is no modem in 3120.

-Data cable... DKU-5

It will have the software cd included.....you will have to install the drivers for the cable...
....dont connect the cable before installing drivers of the cable.
[Read the instructions given on the CD]

Then Install the Nokia PC Suite...

Open the Nokia connection manager...

then select the DKU-5 option.... the system bar should show the 3120 phone connected.

now transfer the files to the phone.

If you want the latest version...of...Nokia PC Suite....download it from www.nokia-asia.com

My first time with my girlfriend!

Thanks for the reply, sir.

I have posted my review and questions here. If you will be kind enough to give it a read and give your thoughts on some of my questions regarding the protection for my 3120 model, it will be greatly appreciated. Here is the link

My First Time with my Girlfriend

*

1st of all....
Activate the MMS on the phone(if not activated previously)
then... save the settings for the same.

I activated my GPRS... I have idea prepaid. Idea guy said that browsing IDEA site will be free though I will have if I download stuff...

Can I check rediff mail and gmail using the phone? If yes, any idea how? Will that cost me?

Do I have to do for MMS also? How do I test if MMS is working?

*

You were saying that PC suite will be avialiable in the CD.

Can I buy this DUK-5 cable only from nokia people or can I but from places like nehru place or palika bazaar in delhi?

Is there danger in buying local DUl 5 cable? Any idea how much it costs?

Also, plz help me by giving advise in buying the right cover and accessories for 3120 like fm radio and stuff...

best,
d00by

I already bout N3120. Read the above post of mine dude!

Nokia 3120 is a good phone but it lacks features but whatever features it has, its perfect with them.

Nokia 6610 is a dynamic phone suits in evrythin. I migrated from Nokia 3120 to 6610. And hey copyrighted stuffs cant be tranferred as Nokia has made it OS to do so.

Yeah. I should have gone for 6610.

But now that I have bought 3120, I think it's a decent phone.

If i could go back, I would have bought 6610.

Btw, achacko, you posted on the previous page

You should have realized that the thread wasn't posted in the wrong section

It seems to be in the wrong section only now that we have a separate section for portables
