Finnish handset major Nokia has launched its high-end Lumia 1020 in India. The device, equipped with a 41 megapixel camera, is targeted at shutterbugs and priced at Rs 49,999.

The device can access 8 billion songs from Nokia Store. The Lumia 1020 would also allow users to download 1.65 lakh apps from the Nokia portal.

The Windows-operating system enabled phone is made in Nokia's facilities in Europe and Beijing, Nokia India Director (South) T S Sridhar said while unveiling the phone in Chennai.

The Lumia 1020 will be available across the stores starting Friday. The company is even offering a six-month EMI scheme to cash in on the festive season.

Sridhar said India is ranked among the top three markets for the company's Lumia range of phones.

The company had sold 27 million units of Lumia range of phones across globe till June 2013, he said, adding that Lumia sales in Indian market witnessed a significant jump.

"Sales of Lumia has been increasing. There was a 32 per cent growth in second quarter of 2013 over the first quarter", Sridhar told reporters at the unveiling.

If mega pixel count is the one and only thing which is important in photography, then Nokia is justified in pricing. But this device is destined to fail am afraid.
