harware manufactures calculate
1GB = 1000MB = 1000 x 1000 KB

where as software manufactures calculates
1 GB = 1024 MB = 1024 x 1024 kb

So do ur calculations

Metric System Asumes in powers of ten.
one Mega byte = 10 raised to 6 Bytes

The binary system counts on powers of two.
one Mega byte' = 2^10 = 1024 bytes.

Hence the discripancy.
