Note II has only one advantage over Xperia Z, that is the s-pen.
Try it out in some store. If you feel you are going to use the pen, get it. Otherwise, Xperia Z is way better than Note II - be it hardware or design.

Note II for the S-Pen, the big screen, better talk time, Xperia Z for everything else: Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 vs. Sony Xperia Z - GSMArena.com

I want to say Xperia Z for sure. But, but, but. It is better to wait and see if X:Z has any issues. 1080p display is one heck of a battery sucker and on top of that, this phone is a new territory for Sony. Wait for X:Z to release in the market, check how perfect the monster is. if not, well, you can go with Note II, which is, till now free from issues.

Let Z come in market, then we will get to know how actually good the phone is, then only we would be able to comment on it.
So far Note 2 is a brilliant phone.

Xperia Z hardware will eat this alive, for snacks(not even breakfast), move over samsung, your days of flogging A9 on 30k+ handsets are over.

PS: The Note II will still have buyers, I also like it, as a tablet replacement, its just that if I can get a Nexus 7 at 20k why would I invest 35k on a phablet? It has some cool features like multi window and SPEN, and if I can afford it someday(means if I have extra cash and nothing immediate in mind to buy) I might get a Note III or IV :p

hmm.
the effort of appropriate language is to be economical. if you can say something in fewer words, by all means, do so
using complicated, redundant, and too many words is also a grammatical error

simple answer OT is Note II

The Xperia Z undoubtedly. But when it launches , it should be expensive by atleast 10k more than the Note 2.

-edit-

I cant believe my eyes !!! Xperia Z @ 36k ??? How ??? at that price , I am ready to forget that a 'phone' called Note 2 even existed :D

At that price get the Xperia Z. Period.

If you want the Z this month, go and book it at Sony Center/Xperia Store ASAP. Otherwise you have to wait till March first week. Although, if you wait you could probably get it for 1-2k lesser than what you'd pay if you pre order.

Note II still has two advantages over Xperia Z, the SPen(its useful) and the screen itself, also the multi window feature, if you want a phone/phablet for business woks, reading ebooks, drawing Note II for sure, if you love playing games, taking snapshots and show off, then its Z(Z looks sexy :p)

I carry the L9 only when I wear a formal/jeans etc, I can't carry it when wearing tracksuites, too big, but the screen is worth it, once you get to use a high ppi large screen you can never go back, I was skeptical at first, but after a few days use of L9 I will take a 5" screen anyday, but over 5" is a bit too big, I can't hold it in one hand let alone one hand use.

It doesnt. And no Manufacturer bothers to give updates to budget phones. But since the Note 2 and Z are flagships , you need not bother.

I have a brainwave :
why not wait for the next Nexus phone ?

guaranteed Software updates , powerful hardware and a possibly cheap price tag = winner.

Xperia Z

When you are putting that much money, it is better to buy something that looks the part. The specs and design look good (specs by Sony standards are 2014) :p

Xperia Z and Note II are two different gadgets. I would like to suggest OP to take demo of both these devices and then decide.
Note II has many other advantages like S-pen, probability of getting android OTA update earlier than sony's flagship phones and a HUGE battery that lasts forever (literally). On the other hand Xperia Z is good for who do job near water bodies, soil and durt as it is incredibly water and dust proof.

Camera of xperia z is not impressive even it has new Exmos RS lens. The pictures are dull and dry even in sunlight where it is is supposed to be perform best. Screen of Xperia Z is really great and detailed but still same old technology, hence poor viewing angles compared to other phones of its range. Source: FoneArena
Hardware wise both are great. Why to brag all the time.   Sorry, if I hurt your ego sony lover.

I wish sony work little more hard to make better camera and voice quality. HTC and Samsung are ready to show their trump cards. OP should wait for a month or so.

Well I don't know what lover you are but I had seen the cam reviews of Xperia Z and the only camera that can beat it are from Nokia's stable, not samsung, the only reason you suggested Xperia Z is because its dust proof and water proof, if that's ain't a fail, I don't know what is.

I think at that price point the choice is easy, just look at which looks more trendy and feels easy in hands & also has better UI customizations to make it more user friendly :)

Also a minimal check, just to make sure there is no major con with the device.

If we go with the specs then mite as well wait for one of these,

Well I don't think HTC will launch it for that much price. If they do, they will remembered in the history of android phones. :p

Remember HTC done this before. They launched 4.7" HTC Sensation XL with beats audio. It was priced for about 40k after some months they launched HTC One X for 35k as their flagship device.

One answer : Cereberus.

Second answer : Alarm app.

I use both time to time, with those two, a smartphone can NEVER get stolen.

Hahahaha? Unlock? First thing they do after getting the device, remove the battery and the sim on the spot without even turning the phone off, so no alarms, instantaneous shut down, if the battery is non removable they take it to a service guy nearby, who takes 5 mins to remove them, and then it disappears forever, these phones then get sold in other states after a few months, most possibly with a false IMEI.

This is India man, if someone steals something its gone for good, forget a cell, they can't even trace crores of rupees that cheat fund scammers steal from the people, there are places in kolkata where a stolen car can be repainted, and all identification numbers sawed off in about 2 hrs max, and if needed it can be dismantled overnight.

A. They won't insert a new sim without flashing it.
B. In order to remote brick it, you need to turn it on.
C. As I said, they have the methods to flash firmwares to them.

D. Lets say you do that, so it gets bricked, they'll tear it apart and take out the lcd, battery, memory card etc, or just keep it in the storage, its not a written rule that they would give it back to you if they can't hack it. So in the end your phone is gone, so, you(or us in this case), lose eventually. See the problem? If you want to use your phone you have to stop the theft, once its gone, you'll never see it again.

I will suggest Note 2. Simply because this is the best smart phone which is costing all most 4K less than Xperia Z still provides all most all the features in fact more like S-Pen. Battery is amazing..Regular updates...looks smart.....Build quality good ..has got an excellent reputation. No user complaints what so ever. So a lot of value for the money that you would spend. So go with it
