After a great round of buzz and rumours, today Nokia has announced it is making Android phones.

It’s official, the Nokia X Android phone is here. Microsoft might be buying Nokia’s phone business shortly, but the Finnish smartphone maker is still pushing ahead with the a launch of three Android-powered handsets today.

It's AOSP, not Google's Android. This is a shrewd move, as detailed here:

Nokia

Android open source program has Google play access.

I got a clear picture of releasing this phone.
1. People want Nokia with android
2. Google introducing ads everywhere. Gmail got worsen, outlook gets better. Internet community started bashing Google for its stupid moves.

Few days ago I came across a reward program for using bing search. Microsoft want to take over Google services.

So a Nokia device with non Google services and including Microsoft services can attract above people and people in developing countries. And few blind people who don't know what version android their device running :p

So Microsoft launched it just to shut up the mouth of people "desiring" an Android phone from Nokia.
Pure sh!t and useless. Lol.

But as amjath said, it will still sell.. cause.. "Nokia". -_- Thank to the fans of Nokia.

Increasing Microsoft services is the main aim. Remember Scroogle campaign

Nokia is indeed releasing three Android phones under the Nokia X brand.

But the UI still looks like Metro.

According to some rumors Nokia will start their own store! Like in case of Kindle the Amazon app store was there.
