A lot of them believe that Flipkart joined hands in cheating the early adopters. There are many threads on it, but this one explains a lot

Moderator of that forum said in October that the update will come in 2 months. In Jan early, he said definitely this month. Now he is saying definitely this year.

If there's no playstore then how is this a smart tv?

***Old Mi TV users are fuming?***

New TV's are coming with play store in-built?

Are there custom ROMs for smart TVs? If there are, then perhaps an aftermarket ROM can add a play store.

Otherwise, get an external Android TV-box or a RasPi with media center software on it, though this would defeat the purpose of owning a smart TV.

You can get a raspberry pi and run openElec which is a much better solution than any software, xiaomi throws in tvs.

Yes. Only those who trusted Mi with an early product are doomed.

You can add apps by yourself through USB. But sadly, most of them won't work. Good thing is that VLC works.

I have a Chromecast with me. Sadly, there is no mention about any custom ROM at XDA.

*correction, since your TV is a 4k tv and raspberry pi cant output 4K HDR, better go with Rock64 + OpenElec
