for intel you will need to change the processor to i3 530 @ 4.3k and mobo to MSI H55M E33 @ 5.2k or MSI H55M P33 @ 4.6k(if you dont need hdmi)

but i strongly recommend athlon II x4. its performance will be better.

about playing games you will need a gaming gfx card like Sapphire Radeon HD5670 512mb @ 5k. the firepro is for 3d rendering and all.

for around 5k you can have Zotac GT240 if you want and you dont care for dx11.
and yes cool buddy is right nvidia gpus will give you cuda support for rendering and all.

Compared to other brands in the market, needless to say, Intel is the first choice!

See if he can afford GTS 450, otherwise wait for GT 440, looking good. I suppose it will be better than HD5670. If GT 440 launches for around 6k, it will be a great buy. Currently only OEM is in the market. Buying GT240 doesn't make much sense any more. Better wait a couple of months.

Jaskanwar Singh
Oct 19, 2010 at 6:45 PM
phenom II x4 945 for 7k
if he will oc then 955 @ 8k

@cool buddy.
its nothing like gts240 doesn't make sense. most games are dx9 and dx10.
yup but it will be better if he can wait also for gt440.

@Jaskanwar Singh ohh... then i'll suggest him AMD Phenom II X4 945 , its the latest series right! he dont want to oc the processor.
So, 7k is starting price for Phenom II X4 right!
He wants to buy the sys asap(by this weekend). So, he cant wait for Nvidia GT440. Sapphire Radeon HD5670 is better than Zotac GT240 right?

Phenom 2 945 for 7.2k is not best VLM , as for 3d rendering u can choose GT240 ! Cuda & physx

phenom II x4 925 is the cheapest one

athlon is basically a phenom without l3 cache. and for rendering and all presence of l3 cache does not make much difference at same clock speed. there is very little difference in gaming. but increased clock speeds with l3 cache will benefit however. but 945 is just 100mhz faster than 635. so you wont notice much performance difference in your work by paying extra 2k.

Athlon 635 is ok for rendering !

X4 635
ASUS M4A88T-M
2x 2GB DDR3 1333MHz
1TB HDD
Corsair CX400
CM Elite 310
As others have suggested, you can try to squeeze in a GTS450 if possible.
Or he may wait and add gfx card later.

He wants to be a little future proof. He won't upgrade his PC soon. Thats why, i asked about latest series.

Anyway... Thanks for your kind suggestions guys.

Will check those configurations that you people suggested. :)
