People now this might seem some odd but i really want a configuration under or max. 6k:shock:.actually a friend of mine wants to but a computer just for his school projects and assignments.he justs wants to do word, powerpoint etc.he just wants a basic comp. with monitor, keyboard, mouse with the configuration.even a p4 or intel atom would do.he lives in delhi so he would buy all the things from nehru place.

I don't think it is possible including the monitor. Even a basic CRT will cost you around 2 to 2.5K. Without Monitor I can make it happen.
My suggestion will be opt for an old system purchase. You may a get a good setup within 6K.

Editing the Cilus Configuration.

Let me try a a very cheap config for you"
Sempron 140 2.7GHz @ 1.6k
MSI 740GM-P25 / MSI GF615M-P33 @ 2.5K
Corsair 2 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 @ 1.01K
Seagate 500GB HDD @ 1.7K
Keyboard & Mouse @ 0.35K
Zebronics Cabinet with 450W SMPS @ 0.8K
Asus VH162DE/Benq G610HDA /Benq G610HDAL 16" LED Display @ 4.4K

Total 12.01K

@ 12.3K.
Now that DDR3 Compatibility has been restored,
I strongly recommend atleast AMD Athlon II X2 250 @ 2.6K instead of Sempron 120.

But either way, Man 6K is no way for new pc ;)

@ deep92

Buddy i think you should wait for amd zacate barebones. An e-350 based platform might suit your needs and you might build a good pc within 10k.

i second vicky here.
zacate platforms like asrock e350 m1 acc. to a review in toms hardware costs 100$. dont know about india. pretty much good for normal work and movies and everyday computing. dont underestimate the bobcat cores :)..

zacate will cost more than atom based barebones. but maybe the single core 1Ghz with a extremely basic mobo will cost around 4k.
