1. Budget?
Under 20k

2. Display type and size?
Amoled/LCD 90/120hz and around 6.5 inches.

3. Dual sim?
Yes

4. Preferred choice of brand?
Motorola, Samsung.
Not preferred: Oppo, Vivo, Realme, etc.

5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)?
Not a priority as number of photos taken are going to be quite low.

6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS,Stock Android etc).
Stock Android.

7. Preferred connectivity options (Dual 4G,802.11AC/5Ghz(not 5g mobile network) wifi).
4G/5G for future proofing

8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)?

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
Moto Edge 20 Fusion, Moto G51 and Moto G31

10. Any other info that you want to share
The phone is going to be used by my dad, and we don’t want to get something expensive as he keeps dropping it.
Moto G51 looked perfect but I’m not too sure of the huge size, and it’s even larger than my iPhone with a similar screen size.
Edge 20 Fusion is a bit out of the budget as of now, and I need to get the phone in the first week of Jan.
He currently uses a Samsung A20 but the amount of bloatware present is keeping me away from buying again.

They don't have a phone which is worth 15k.
Then should I suggest shitty phones?
What about this:*www.amazon.in/Nokia-G20-Camera-Battery-Screen/dp/B0986MQRFB
or
This: *www.amazon.in/Samsung-Storage-sAMO...5e322&pd_rd_wg=nN40c&pd_rd_i=B098NGDNMT&psc=1

My wife is using M31 while I am using M31s All 3 uses the same processor and its Exynos 9611 processor is good for daily tasks. Not recommended for hardcore gaming though.

Worth 7-8k at best.

I won't recommend it because of 2 year old Exynos 9611, even for daily usage.

Moto G31, G40 fusion, G51 are good options.

I paid for Motorola display 5.4k twice because it's display got cracked when it fell out of my hands.
They just said display damage is called physical damage which is not covered under any warranty at all so they made me pay them 5.4k

Again it fell and broke diagonally

Even though Motorola claims it to have any Dragontrail or Gorillaglass what ever it is.

So don't just fall for processors look about after market service also.

I suggest Poco m3 pro 5G @ 14.5k at least we can debloat it and use.

The first comparison shows the 4gb/64gb models whereas I meant this one.
Limited-time deal: Samsung Galaxy M32 (Light Blue, 6GB RAM, 128GB Storage) 6 Months Free Screen Replacement for Prime *www.amazon.in/dp/B096VDR283/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_dl_9BCGTT66B4JD43GZRBQP

And if poco is good enough how about the x3 for 19k?

If you can increase your budget then get Samsung M52 5G or else go with Samsung M32.
Don't go with Motorola & for that matter Realme & Poco or Xioami are all the same , cheap Chinese look alikes.

Scratch resistance doesn't means impact resistance.

I bought Poco X3 pro 6GB ram version for 15.8k and have flashed Havoc OS on it. I won't recommend them unless you are willing to flash a custom rom.

Indian Bank apps won't install onto custom os because that's what happened with a member from another forum and the solution he got was to install stock os for his phone.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

The budget is 22k now and from my research as well, it’s between the Moto Edge 20 Fusion and the Realme GT Master Edition.

Nokia has no presence in the 20k price bracket, and I would rather get a Motorola than a Samsung.

Obviously I can also go ahead and get a Mi/Realme/Poco and flash Stock Android on it, but I’ve been away from the Magisk/SuperSU game for a while and would not risk it on a phone I will not be using.

Dad’s past 2 phones have been with Stock Android (Moto) before Samsung and he was pretty happy and comfortable with it so I am going to wait for 1st Jan for Flipkart’s sale and order one.

Cheers

They work fine, he should've used Magisk properly.

I bought M32 6GB/128GB model for my aunt under 14k with sale & card offer. It is an ok phone IMO for that price. I saw some lag, but maybe because I use S20 FE.

Card offers are a different ball game. I have only quoted prices amazon app is showing right now so it is worth it to check out card offers on all decent front runners in one's budget.
M32 5g is a decent pick since it has newer dimensity cpu and card based discounts will bring it below 20k easily.
M52 is also a good contender above 20k
Which do you prefer in above 20k segment m52 or oneplus nord?

Don't go with Oneplus Nord or One plus phones also as my elder sister got her phone screen damaged and got it repaired but they charged her it seems.

It like this
Samsung Gorilla Glass 3 is equivalent to Xiaomi Gorilla Glass 5 or even 6.

How are you expecting physical damage to be included in warranty?

Samsung Gorilla Glass 3 is equivalent to Xiaomi Gorilla Glass 5 or even 6.
Samsung doesn't makes Gorilla Glass. Corning does. Stop equating scratch resistance with impact/shock resistance.

No no
My Samsung M31s fell down several times but only got a scratch while my wife's old Xiaomi Redmi 5 Pro fell down once and her display broke diagonally so I bought her M31 and until now since 4 months of her use no damage what so ever and I have been using mine since 14 months and it's spick & spock.

Budget is already 22k. Why not One Plus Nord CE with discounts wouldn't be a good choice for OP?
but I understand the advices here, Moto pretty much stands out as best phone as per OPs budget and requirement. Only issue I feel is Moto phones are too big and heavy now.
There is no perfect phone, us buyers must make more than 1 sacrifices to get an OK phone. I guess this is intentional too push sales for their higher end models.

Samsung Galaxy A52 (Black, 6GB RAM, 128GB Storage) with No Cost EMI/Additional Exchange Offers *www.amazon.in/dp/B08VB2R5QC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_81X8FZFKW3VTBDZZ0B5N
It will come down to a lil over 22k after offers.

M52 is looking good too. The 8gb a52 is 28k and the m52 8gb is 31k with 2500 coupon while the 6/128 is 29k with 2500 coupon.

M32 5G was never a good pick because of 720p display.

M52 is good but expensive. At 30k, iQoo 7 is a better deal or Realme X7 Max at 25k, both are much more balanced phones. Surely Samsung has a better UI. If M52 5G goes on sale & costs 25k (w/o card offers), then go ahead with it.

Update:

Purchased the Moto Edge 20 Fusion and received it on the 4th Jan. First time using a high refresh rate display and should say it makes quite a difference in the user experience.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Hey, the phone is running great, as it’s with dad I haven’t used it much beyond the first 2 days after setting it up.

You can also check out the G71 5G as well, it’s mostly similar. Stock Android FTW!

Does your phone support HDR in Netflix ?
