Oh boy........... I am also waiting for my HSF (sidewindercomputers) since the 3rd. BTW, I ordered enzotech ultra-x.

I would suggest the ThermalRight Ultra-120 + any 120mm fan. The eXtreme is not worth the eXtra cash just for 2 more heatpipes IMO. And tests have shown just a couple of degrees difference between the Ultra-120 and Ultra-120 eXtreme.

@john and choto - My order from sidewinder took 3 weeks to reach me, so just be patient. And pray that customs does not butt in...

Hey ranjan!
Actually it was not available with Prime a couple of weeks ago. Also they don't stock enzotech so had to buy from sidewinder. Well there's been an update that my order has finally arrived in Inida. Lets see when I get it.

@Hells_Fury
Ya I had talked with Gary (sidewinder) and he also suggested the same.

Well the Ultra Extreme is worth its extra cost because it does perform well and in some cases equals or beats Tuniq. What Tuniq was capable of, i need not even mention.;-)

I am OverClocking my C2D with just another Transcend 667 MHz RAMs :p

if you dont mind can you please tell me what is the max. speed u are getting thru overclocking?
Choto Cheeta
Jul 13, 2007 at 2:39 PM
if you dont mind can you please tell me what is the max.

Why should I mind :p

Anyway at present RAMs are at Default 667 MHz and CPU running at 2.98 GHz !!!

but see i am not the best person here from whom one should take advice of OverCloking  me my self is a n00be in this front...

Well with 2.8 / 2.9 on the stock the Idle Temp is 43 / 45c on load goes up to 55c... now its with vcore 1.27 / 1.28... any thing above 1.3 is pushing the Temp up to 48c idle... and onload its close to 60c !!!! and in that case I run the RAM with 703 MHz :p (even I run those RAMs with 775MHz too, didnt give any problem)

So, let the cooler come... then we can see how fast I can take this E6600 with Transcend RAMs :p
B
BULLZI #25
Jul 13, 2007 at 2:47 PM
well actually i read some reviews from hexus.net and also forum.atomic.

they hv suggested to use atleast pc2-6400 for decent overclocking.
my cpu is E6400.rite now its overclocked to 2.42 Ghz.
bt vcore volt is a bit high, about 1.32 volt.wanna decrease that.

there are some exciting test results.they are saying that their 800 MHZ ram is running at 1000 MHZ ,system rock stable.u can get about 3.4-3.6 GHZ processor speed using DDR2-800.

bt using DDR2 667,its really hard to achieve such oc.
Choto Cheeta
Jul 13, 2007 at 2:52 PM
See, I saw this RAM can run 775 MHz without any problem whats so ever, now with 2.9 GHz CPU and RAM at Default 667 MHz

System in Background Keeps AtuGK running for Encoding where as my nephew Plays NFS MW in multitasking... now its like 24x7 now days... so let the cooller came and would see how fast it can go :p

You should have asked Gary to undervalue the items and mark the package as a commercial sample. Usually customs wont detain these type of packages...Even I had to learn the hard way.

Was thinking about it but the only problem is that they dont stock Corsair RAM...:(

BULLZI #30
Jul 13, 2007 at 3:43 PM
@FURY

corsair is,no doubt, a well reputed manufacturer bt there are other ones too as OCZ,CRUCIAL BALLISTICS,G SKILL,MUSHKIN which are also decent ones.

nyway, are u interested in having rams from theitdepots?
Hells_Fury
Jul 13, 2007 at 3:46 PM
Nope...too costly. Will mostly have sm1 get it for me from the US. My second option was Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500, but even those arent available from MC...
If you are getting your RAM from MC get the OCZ Reaper HPC PC2-8500 kit.

well i hv got someone who s in the US rite now.
will the customs allow him to carry the ram with him?
Hells_Fury
Jul 13, 2007 at 4:47 PM
Depends on the value of all electronics items that he is carrying. If its below a certain limit, its ok. And first of all, if they dont notice the RAM then no problem. Sometimes the customs officials dont check the hand baggage and check only checked-in baggage. It all depends on his luck.

whts the actual value of "limit"??
well hes gonna be carrying only 2 gb ram n a cpu cooler.will it exceed the limit??

i think the limit is 25K.
B
BULLZI #37

@kooabs

well total price of ram + cpu cooler will be max. 20k.
then its in limit i guess?
Hells_Fury
Jul 13, 2007 at 10:21 PM
I thins kooabs03 is right. If I remember correctly, the limit is Rs. 25k itself. If he is carrying no other electronics items then its ok. But just as a precaution, ask him to keep the RAM in his hand baggage.

its about 1.32 volt,cpu z showed proccy voltage as 1.17 volt.why s this difference,can u plz tell me?

and by the way, ambient temp. was about 36 C .i guess its not my proccy's fault tht it went crazy.

You still on Stock cooler right ? Well its well known that initial C2D CPUs didnt have perfectly flat IHS hence due to the spoon like IHS, proper contact with IHS wasnt possible, resulting in insanely high temps.

Buying a good cooler seems to be a better choice for long run even if you don't overclock. But as darklord said if the IHS is not flat then lapping is the best option or use some thick thermal paste like Arctic Cooling MX-1 to bridge the gap.

Precisely yes :)
Although newer CPUs have much better IHS. My E6600 is much much better and so is my other E4300 :)

I suggest get some local thermal paste, the white ones, put oodles of it and just hope the gap is filled.By oodles, i dont mean you pour it :D

Totally agree there,no point wasting money, buying new coolers and experimenting. If IHS is not flat, a good cooler wont help.
