Hi Guys,

I am looking for a powerbank. I have been reluctant to buy these because my friend's phone got fried due to electricity surge problem from a reputed powerbank. My cousin also had one with 1 year warranty, worked fine in summers it wasn't used even once in winters and so it's battery gave up next year. Is there any good one which does not harm devices? I want the one which I can charge directly from the electricity plug. My budget is 1k can stretch it to 1.5k.

P.S. Is there any powerbank kind of device for laptops?

Thanks

I am using a Xiaomi power bank that I purchased sometime back for appx Rs. 999. It has 10240 mAH and lasts about three full charges of my phone.
For laptop, the only way is to purchase additional batteries.

Yes, 10240 mAH. It was a typo.
Don't remember the model number but you can search "xiaomi power bank" or something and you should be able to find it.

Generally lenovo and Xiaomi make good power bank as far as I have heard. You can always Google . Customer support is generally bad for everything in our country. The trick, is to find a product where we never get to find out.

Xiaomi uses very good quality battery (LG/Panasonic).
Once upon a time Ambrane also used Samsung cells. But for their latest version products, they don't mention cell manufacturer name.

I will advise you to go with Xiaomi.

I missed buying Mi power bank 18 months ago. Ever since then it was very hard to buy it, because of duplicate products everywhere and less stock availability. Few months back, I jumped the gun and bought the 10240 mAH version of Mi powerbank as soon as I saw it was avilable on MI site. I bought it for full price which was Rs 1299. I think it was worth the full price. It's running good.

I think warranty is for 6 months.
I can't remember any company which offers more than 6 month warranty on a battery. Even for phones, the battery and charger are covered for 6 months.

Wow.. I didn't know Mi Powerbank Version 2 are here. They looks sleek.
I recently bought Mi Powerbank 10,000 mAh at full price Rs 1299 since I knew their quality is great and I had a hard time finding new one.

I will surely have an eye for the new 10000 mAh powerbank, for any discounts.

+1 for Mi Power Bank. I bought 10000mAh during Last year Holi Festival offer with 1100 INR. Still charging my Moto X Play more than two times.

And they also have provided a power bank cover as complimentary gift. :D

I have finalized Mi 10000 powerbank. Just two questions-
1. Does it have the 18650 battery?
2. Say I charge a phone with turbo/fast charging with Mi powerbank, then will it slow charge or fast/turbo charge the phone? It depends on the adapter and the usb cable I guess.

The fan is of Mi. So it should be available on Mi store. And why would you want a cover for the Powerbank! I am not among those people who care about power banks enough to buy a cover for it.

About the previous two questions:
1. Not sure from where you got the 18650 figure. What does it represent?
2. Fast charging depends on the ampere which is being provided by the charger. My Mi powerbank provides 5.1 volts or 2.1 ampere of output. Charges my 1st gen phone fast. Don't think fast charging means it will drain battery faster. The rate by which your phone drains battery depends on other factors like phone battery capacity and load.

1. Powerbank
2. What I meant was you cannot fast charge a S7 until and unless you have the special adapter by Samsung. Now my question is since I will be charging the phone via the usb cable connected to the powerbank, then will it fast charge or slow charge the phone?

Not able to find that fan on their site. Well I read the reviews on Amazon+from the built it looks like a scratch magnet. So, considering how I will be handling it, I asked for a cover.

1. No Idea about MI powerbank using 18650 battery.
2. As I already said, fast charging depends on the Ampere which your charger is providing. It's just a marketing term. Since powerbank provides 2.1A output, it should be able to charge your Samsung phone fast. (I don't know what Ampere your Samsung phone's "special" adapter is rated). As for scratches, after a year of using my powerbank with no cover, and handling it roughly, I am pretty satisfied that it doesn't look like that from the pic attached. :p

Okay, I see Vyom has already covered most of your doubts. Still I will try to clear your confusion.
1. The cover for the powerbank, I got as complimentary during festive season. I am not sure if they provide during off seasons.
2. What do you mean by 18650 battery? If you are talking about capacity, then you already mentioned that it is 10,000mAh battery, right?
3. Regarding Turbo/Fast charge (there is no official turbo charging option for MI Power Bank), the best way to know is to compare with your output value of your phone charger with power bank's output value. More the value, faster the charging. And again, don't get confused with faster charge is for 100% battery capacity. It is only for certain point of battery capacity, after that it will be charged by as normal charger.

The Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 2 comes with a two-way charging technology that is a great step forward in comparison to the older version. Moreover, it supports several fast charging technologies including Quick Charge 3.0 and Huawei FCP. The only shortcoming is the lack of the USB Type-C, but I guess the manufacturer didn’t pack it with this port not to affect the pricing.

Also Mi USB fan is here: Mi USB Fan - RM - Mi Malaysia
But looks like it's discontinued now, like they discontinued the mouse pad (good thing I bought 2 of them). You will need to find some 3rd party USB fans now. Like these:

The information you have provided is enough to realize that it is used one. For validating, use your product coupon code on mi website(that must be provided with the packet) and check if the counter value is 1. If yes, then it is genuine and new one.
And again I have a bad feeling that either the product is fake or tampered one.

It has been checked 5 times already. Amazon told me to take this matter with Mi as they sell new products only. I kept my SIII's charger connected to it for like 2 hours+ but it didn't charge even 1 level. Mi's cc number is not working. I have cancelled the other order from Amazon.

It has been checked 5 times already. Amazon told me to take this matter with Mi as they sell new products only. I kept my SIII's charger connected to it for like 2 hours+ but it didn't charge even 1 level. Mi's cc number is not working. I have cancelled the other order from Amazon.
Return it immediately. How come cloudtail is selling this type product? Better to buy from official sites (always).

They won't take it back. They are telling me to go to mi customer care.

How much time does it take to move from 25-50% led 2 to 50-75% led 3? S3's charger charged it for about an hour and it has already been about 30 minutes with the s7 one and we are still stuck.

Check their policy, they have clearly mentioned amazon fulfilled products can be returned and replaced.

Normally it takes around 8 hours for me to fully charge from moto charger.

They are saying fingerprints on device & scratched code does not come under the purview of return. Man they didn't even pack it properly, just a normal polybag without any air bubble cover.

Tell them you payed for New piece not used. Tell them to provide you a genuine unused unopened piece if not refund your money.

Thanks
20000 mAh power banks are good but charging takes time without QC chargers.
Mi power bank 2i are great.
Using 10k Bank for almost 1.5 years without any problem.
Warranty on Powerbank is useless.
Life cycle is also good compared to this price range.

For laptop you need to spend more

+1 about the Mi powerbank. Have a look at this beast, the next version
Xiaomi's 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 3 charges devices at up to 45W via USB-C for ~$30

About those laptop chargers, considering that chinese brand I would stay away.
