Scientific linux 5.3 is the latest one and not 5.3. Is this the CD or the DVD ISO?
Knoppix 6.0.1 is here and digit is giving 3.6 on the DVD

The SP1 and SP2 of Office 2000, XP and 2003 are a waste because SP3 includes both of SP1 and SP2. Does anyone still use Office 2000 or XP?

I definitely agree with "Rajivnedungadi" that SP1 and SP2 are a complete waste becoz those updates are always included in SP3.

I thank the digit team for heeding to my request of Eclipse software. I appreciate the inclusion of videos in the DVD issues, this is definitely much better content than providing obsolete english movies that this magazine used to do earlier.

There are really some good rare softwares and some unique linux distros available in this months DVDs and looking forward to digit to continue the same trend in the future too.

Okay, Please note that "you" are not able to install SP3 directly. That does not mean that you will have to install SP1 first and then SP2 and the SP3. As per one of the KB Articles I have given above, it clearly states that all previous updates are added in the SP3 and that includes SP1 and SP2, which means that you can install SP3 directly.

Try the following if you have an Office 2003 disc.

1. Download and Install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from here

After installation, run it and remove office 2003 from the list, this would remove the complete office application.

With the Office 2003 disc, install the application and then try to install the office 2003 SP3 directly and it should work.

Thats true, it would take a lot of time. I am not sure if you are convinced or not about SP3 directly being installed without any previous SPs already installed, thats where we started. For you all 3 SPs on the DVD might be useful but for most of the other people out here, its useless, Digit is just filling up the disc with useless stuff.

Digit Makes Us April Fool

Digit has made us April Fool by providing some old and useless stuff on the DVDs.

1. Knoppix 3.6 (2004 Version) - The current version is 6.0.1 released in Feb 09
2. Digit has provided Service Packs for Office 2000, XP and 2003. Digit should know that SP3 includes SP1 and SP2. Also I am not sure if anyone still used Office 2000 or Office XP
3. Scientific Linux 5.2 provided is also an older version, the latest version released is 5.3. Unfortunately Digit has provided the Live CD of the same and not the DVD ISO.

also i guess the test team got a better taste in music(BTBAM's Selkies).way to go guyz.
i'd recommend the following songs instead of the old stuff u guyz use to test

Opeth-Windowpane/The Drapery Falls
Mudvayne - Prod
Converge - Concubine
Thrice - Daedalus

this should cover every musical aspect u want to test

Perfect Design of the Magazine.
I don't think that digit can be designed that perfect ever again. What a gorgeous look. I am still watching it from yesterday evening when I bought it from the stands.

About the content I will post later.

But there is a lot of future tech. You may like it or dislike it.

About Digit 3.0.

I find lot of digit to be right off the bat. I have started finding digit a bit boring now. It sounds like reading through some lecture notes.

Things I would suggest from past is:

1. Keep some gossip/fun stuff about technology in the magazine. As we used to have earlier (now replaced by Final Word)

2. 30 minute help can get people lost. How about Uploading it in video on DVD instead of featuring 30 minutes in magazine. Earlier version back in 2002 used to come with how to video or do it with Digit.

3. IT feels like reading advertisement throughout. It feels like digit has increased cost to support those advertisers than other way round. Charge advertisers more and not digit Readers. Magazine is one side read, Other side is Advertisement. And those advertisement are very irrelevant to current article too. Don't even know why it is there.

4. There are so many experts in every field and everyone having very contradicting opinion about everything. May be Digit Editor should watch Gadget show on channel Five (UK television) on Monday nights.

We would like to have Indian version of such show. Instead of showcasing a product, how about building proper Video which gives end to end preview on how product works. What are possible enhancement we can do with it.
Example - Sony Vaio P Video (Every user can log on to Youtube now a day and watch kind of video we have on DVD. We want Expert Opinion on it and that is reason we subscribe to digit.

Things that I like in new version:

1. Facts on top of the page.

2. Digit saves lot of bandwidth for me by providing updates every month on dvds

3. Digit was early on Windows Vista like bandwagon. Why not something similar for Win 7 bandwagon. I am expecting more Win 7 enhanced application.

What is the use of providing Knoppix 3.6 when the latest version is KNOPPIX_V6.0.1 released on 2009-02-08? The same goes for K-Lite mega Codec pack. The latest is 4.7.5 whereas Digit is providing 4.2.5f released originally on October 20th 2008!!!!!

Will you please try to provide updated version of software if you are really interested in improving the mag? Only increasing the price is not really going to help, and the price increase should be justified not only by the quality of content of the print media but also that of the DVD.

If you are taking money please provide its worth.

The mag was good....but I am beginning to think of the old days when Digit wasn't on dieting..........I mean the number of pages have really reduced.......!And I buy digit mainly because of its magazine content....not even the theory of rewiews...(I am interested in the gradelist...that is the final result).......
So Digit please eat something.......a slim digit is not healthy...!!

Hello, I have been reading digit for last two years though I am not a regular reader of the magazine. I buy digit only when I have saved enough money. Last month, I took an internet connection and found out that my XP is a pirated version. I would like to install Linux in my PC, but I have never used any version of Linux. I would be grateful if DIGIT releases a fast track about linux.

shocked about 2.1 speakers review.. some of the speakers prices not updated and altech lansing vs4121 scores are too low when compared to umax..
i had the altec lansing vs4121 and i amazed about its deep bass and fantastic output even its price slightly higher than others.
but digit did not review this one and put the scores too low when compared to umax series.. i hear the output-difference between umax, zebronics and altec lansing at the time of purchasing of vs4121..
i think new readers might be misguided to buy umax for performance..
i dont know wat hap in digit reviews..

I feel the mag has undergone a nice change in looks. articles are better than before too.
but the product test is not the same as before. i have old issues in which ports display '42 speakers tested', '39 cellphones tested' but now digit getting much less brands/models for comparison. last month PMP tests disappointed me and current issue speaker test is beyond explanation. com'on digit team, only 4 5.1speaker sets to test !!!!! and where is that big comparison table !!! ultimate bass test, ultimate treble test !!!!??????

i dont buy mags to watch its cover and looks. i buy for reading.

paper quality and binding also poor these days. past issues, when one holds, feels like hardbound book but these issues bend- no stiffness..

Disappointing
