i remember, last time also DIGIT has given some training course coupons.
Really who would use them? its not worth providing those coupons. Again this time digit has come up with those coupons.

I purchased a copy from the stands today and the gifts are a waste

1. There is no unique code in my magazine so I will not be able to redeem the Rs.50/- discount coupon from digit nor would I be able to use it to redeem the discount on the course from training.com worth Rs.500/- so gifts worth Rs.550/- is a WASTE for me. Its the same code for both the so called "gifts". I have written to digit regarding the same and I am sure I won't get a reply ever in my life.

2. The Digit Advertisement Coupon is on the back of the Fast Track, in this world of Internet and email, they want us to cut the back page of the fast track and send it to them with the advertisement on a CD/DVD and they know it very well that no one will do it. Therefore that Rs.500/- "worth" gift is also useless.

3. The back cover says that there is 8 Crore worth of gifts, it creates an impression that each issue has gifts worth Rs.8 Crores.

4. Collectors DVD: OpenSUSE 11.3 released long back but digit has provided the milestone edition of the same.

5. Collectors DVD: Digit Archives only till March 2010

6. Omega DVD: Movie, "The Yes Men Fix The World: For a moment I thought that I was watching doordarshan, its no movie its some documentary.

I have not checked the magazine contents after all the above disasters.

Don't see anything cool.
Not buying.

How can you guys be so naive? For all those who are complaining, did you even go through the Magazine? A- list booklet? and DVD contents properly? It seems that the complainers just rushed through the stuff halfheartedly and never even bothered to have a detailed look before posting comments.
May be this would clear some air:
For the DVDs
Free Full games: Cube 2: Sauerbraten, Tremulous, Street Fighter and GTA2
Video tutorials – Haven't people been demanding these specific videos for a long time? And no they are not on Youtube! They are available on Academic Earth. Visit *academicearth.org, search for Professor- David J Malan.
Subscription for SIX months for Trustport Antivirus and a month long subscription for Norton was provided in November issue which was provided specially for Digit readers. These were not at discounted prices, they were provided for FREE! There are two free for home use Antivirus this time - AVG and Avast.
OpenSuse 11. 3 is the latest version. 11.4 is still not stable, hence did not provide that.
Digit Archives are there from 2001 till March 2010, there are more than 100+ issues of the magazine in PDF format. I don't understand what's the complain here!
Did you even bother to see The Yes Men Fix the World? How's it even remotely connected to Doordarshan? It's a funny take on how big corporations exploit poor people and take away their rights, it tries to solve some serious issues in the world. Do you even know what impact it had on huge companies like DOW? NO! because you did not bother to check it out! And posted some half cooked stories on the forum..

If you would closely watch the movie "The Yes Men Fix The World", you will realise why it is special to us as Indians.

Also, the fact is that Digit is giving prizes worth Rs. 8 crores, and each reader has an assured gift.

As far as the Digit advertisement goes, you can advertise your business or service with us. That is a method of validation that our reader is getting a service and it is for tracking purposes.

the December issue really seems great!!

It may appear a little pricey but I think it is totally worth it with the additional 50 odd pages of content and the additional DVD.

PLUS: India's fastest PC is truly brilliant!!!!

Well I haven't received my copy yet so can't say much but as u say archives only till march 2010.. what is this I am regular reader So I got it .. I only need last year issues so what about that? even last year u had messed up archives by not providing it and this year too ..

It is not as if the good folks at Digit are paying 500 bucks to NIIT so that you can learn something over there. Instead it is NIIT who is spending [500 * x] amount from their advertising budget by offering a discount of 500 to each digit buyer - it is yet another mode of advertisement - seeeempul

That way at least for the next 3-4 months I can give some hardware recommendation gyaan to people who often ask before buying a new device

I'm afraid I'm not very good at writing reviews and I don't have enough time as well. Have not even completed reading oct and nov issues.

Issues upto Nov 2010 would have been really great - as I like to keep those pdf archives as a collection and read those as e-books.

Also Fedora 14 and Open Suse 11.3 - DVD edition would have been really great - expect to get those with the next month mag anyway.

I am not a spammer,
last night when i was trying to post, i faced some problems. When i post a reply, it was not appearing and i did not understand what was happening. I thought some thing went wrong, but the actual problem could be that server might be busy.

so being confused i re posted my replies.

lol there are few mistakes in 2010 A-List Pocket Booklet. in graphics card section on the page with few GTX460s , it is written 96 stream processors on them with 550 MHz GPU and etc.
it is carried over from previous page which has GT240s specs printed on them

I haven't received the magazine yet

, though most of the time it reaches me on the first of every month. Whenever coming back home asking neighborhoods did anything came up with the courier ? lol

Also, the courier status is still "in transit". So lazy peoples of this "smscouriers"

Digit please ask them to deliver it fast !!

Bought this issue today and was disappointed again in department of gifts/prizes...got the same training voucher as that previous issue, which i may never use as its valid for Rs 790 n above courses means u need to shell out some money...and also as i was never able to utilize that previous training.com voucher which was totally free.

Dot understand why cant digit give us just a voucher worth 1 free issue instead of Rs 500 voucher. At least we will have assurance of proper gift. Why digit always want to hypothetically show a larger prize amount, "this time 8 crore", by including those useless training.com vouchers (atleast for me)

Rest magazine is good and m happy to see all previous issues + searchable tips and tricks.

there are mistakes in almost all issues of digit i buy. quality of content also decreased. digit rules before 2007, with sections like hot and not one silly question, beat that, gender bender, take a crack, 30 hours with... , take a crack , the A list, digipick of the month etc.
digit feels dedicated to computer geeks with deep pockets. willing to buy cool expensive products.

thats why i started buying chip from last 1 year.
i still like digit more than any other mag but plz do us a favor and make it like the old digit.
fonts also looks weird sometimes. i read click as dick sometimes.

i did Not got my copy, i subscribed for 200 rs on Site and Was thinking that digit service must be good as they always favor there subscriber a lot.
But By ordering One issue i got the Delivery management of the Digit grp.

This issue is available at my local newsstand and i cannot buy that as i ordered it

I was thinking for subscribing 1 year . but if the magazine is always going to Come after 1 week of month i will never ever Subscribe.

Hi there, good to know that you enjoyed the track in the Omega DVD, you'll find the entire album in the Alpha DVD. The name of the band is Sifar and the track's name is Gunah. When I last spoke with them the band was still in process to record the entire album in digital quality. So this version of the song is the only available one.

Selection of the past issues for the DVDs is something which is not on my hand, I would have loved to give the issues till Nov 2010. So for now, enjoy reading all the past issues from the very beginning since 2001 and might I add that's still a LOT of past issues..

Its Just digit issues from 2001 to March 2010

bought the issue. played the dvd's also.

To tell the truth i only bought the December issue every year in the hope of previous issues in pdf format. This section diasappoints me a little. as it is only upto March2010.

HD WALLPAPERS are great. i like most of them.

In Software section i like MAGIX(trial version. though)
Good to get CCLEANER version3, DOT NET, Java Runtime. I have not try the other softwares yet due to lack of time. Regarding AMD OVERDRIVE is it related to overclocking?

HD TRAILERS are great to watch.

Happy to see the FASTEST PC configuration. ROBOT MAKING TUTORIAL is great but not for newbies.

Regarding Gifts & prizes : will be more happier if you can give a voucher gift on any hardware purchase or popular High end games. Requesting you to think for it in issues to come.

This much i have seen in one day time. and all the declarations are out and out my personal opinion.

I am a non-subscriber but faithful reader of digit from many years now. But this time I had to subscribe for the Collectors edition, since Dec and Jan issue combo offer was unbeatable.

I am glad to say that my experience as a subscriber started quite well. The issue reached by the 3rd, when by instance, it was my week off from work and so I was able to personally thank the courier man

The packet was quite heavy justifying the contents which I was anticipating from those facebook updates from digit. You cant guess the first thing which I did after I received the Dec edition - I photographed it - for my archive

After I opened the glossy pack of the courier, I was face to face with another glossy thing - the digit cover, like a shining piece of art, I had to adjust it against the reflection of the fluorescent light to take a snapshot.

And then my eyes fell on the A list booklet, quite a comprehensive guide I must say. Then I saw the fast track to robotics. Well, I may work on Robots some day, but on that day, I would be sure that I have a nice guide with me.

The DVD's as expected was superb as always. Only one thing which I didn't liked is that, the trailers of the Movies were mixed with that of the games. I hope this was unintentional and would not be a practice to be carried forward. Also, I expected the trailer of "Tron Legacy" on the disks, as its a movie about a person being abducted in the Computer world! Not a geek thing? I think its a lot of it!

Alas, because of my exams, the rest of the contents of the DVD's and that of the magazine would have to wait. But I would write about it for sure, and this time, from a subscriber point of view.

First of All i have Purchased my copy On 27th Of Nov...and you are mailing that my copy is Dispatch on 4th ... why?? Why One Week Late....

and After that you also say that you will get ur copy in 5-7 working days after 4th dec.
but its 10th dec man......

Please track My issue And if Lost Please refund....

i will buy it today only...............

and Will Never Ever subscribe Or buy Magazine Online.....

Good to know that you liked the DVDs. Mixing of the game and movie trailers was intentional, as these trailers would now be carried in both the DVDs unlike earlier when they were just a part of the Playware DVD. But thanks for suggestion will look into it. We have given Tron Legacy trailer earlier in our DVDs hence it wasn't included this time..

am facing the same problem, I even did not get any message of dispatch, I booked it on 28th nov morning, still not received the mag, its almost 2 weeks................might be we getting it with Jan-11 issue............:roll: :twisted:

Atlast i received my copy of Dec'10
and when i opened dat cover .. the front of DIGIT magazine front page was full of scratches..(seems as if it is being used for some purpose)

and digit2010 pocket book too have few scratch in front..
what a dispatch they have made.. should i write at help@thinkdigit.com

just received the mag, however, damn its not accepting the code................. :twisted:

In The review of lg optimus one p500 the phone showed is gt540 which is an older phone. Since its already printed i'm guessing it was a last minute addition to the mag.

I really liked the yes man docmntry as it was some how in the same genre from the grand old zeitgeist but this time with a sense of humor .
The content compilation in the magazine is awesome and dvd contents are really good
just a bit pricey ,as Rs 250 seems really barrier breaking but i got it in 200 bcoz of the discount voucher from digit/facebook.
Overall a nice end of the year by digit,
keep up the tech work going its awesome!!!

I havent received my copy yet...I guess most of the people would have already read and archived/discarded the magazine by now...I have always liked Digit and thats why I had subscribed...but unfortunately that has turned out to be a big big mistake...read digit but never ever subscribe to it, seems to be the motto..

I have written 3-4 times to the helpdesk. They used to reply at first that my magazine will be delivered on 6th,10th but now they have even stopped replying to my mails.

Called up their Mumbai office, the guy there tells me this is normal you shouldnt expect it before 20th each month!!!! Are you kidding me, seriously? I guess 10 days after the 20th I can probably get a 2nd hand magazine at my localwala...I dont understand why does digit treat its subscribers in such a way....shouldnt it be the other way round?

Please tell me how do I cancel my subscription and get my money back..I am willing to pay 10% of my money to Digit as processing fee and still I will be happier without their subscription

1.) Do I put my contest entries of page 90 & 91 in two different envelopes or putting them both in 1 envelope is enough?

2.) What is point of holding a contest if all its questions have the same answer - so lame?

3.) Whoever had designed the layout of the page no 90 certainly did not bring his brain to work that day - section for entering contestant's contact details colored in dark purple #FAIL

4.) Liked the movie Yes Men - though don't necessarily agree with everything they believe in, appreciate their conviction

I do agree with some readers, there's quality content in the magazine and some good softwares in dvds, but it surely doesn't live up to the hype, i can say the quality of content is reducing, not at the so called alarming rate, but yes, it is for sure as i've been reading digit for over 6 years now.
Also, this year's subscription gift is another disaster, it has lots of radio & tv stations, but 99% of them are useless for us indians :-(

, didn't expect this from digit who always stand by the customer's interests and quality of the product.
And for the better part, yes men was superb, their take on big corporations and the way they does it is really commendable

New sections like bazzar mini and world view were very useful,but as i have told you improve your layout and page quality.
BTW new glossy layer in the cover in december issue was good

The interface runs on Internet Explorer you should have IE installed, if you cannot access Tips & Tricks from the DVD try doing it manually from Windows explorer.

everything regarding issue was great except 1 let down..rs. 250 is wayy too much! Should have included another ft

agree with few points of this post other than tutorial vids one which I think is good

other than this,I feel dvd's are a letdown..no full game?no full paid s/w? the yes men movie was awesome so thanks
I know Raabo and all other team members are working very hard and work has shown..Magazine contend has greatly improved but you also must work on other aspects..

Digit tv is good but no audio after 3 minutes?why?and no I have no codec,coder or decoder problem..

fanboy article was great..missing your quake discussions

The writing by Raabo is excellent..and few of your articles need to increase in length

Overall a good issue but not worth Rs.250
Magazine- 8/10
DvD- 5/10 (Like you put it in the bazaar mini page- Decent product.Go for it,but there [edit:] must be better products)

^ make sure if you get firewall alert click allow.

Try with IE 8

also keep little patience for it to load. IT took lots of time for me to load

clear the cache of IE

thats why i unsubscribed from their service.
i buy it on 1st day of month from magazine stalls,
although the prices are costly but atleast i get it on 1.
they gave me diwali edition on 13 or 14 of the month while all my friends got it earlier and were telling about it. i was so frustrated....

and talking about digit, dc edition was not worth 250 inr,

chip was far better than this....
