June 2009 is the 8th Anniversary of Digit and it brings along a month-long Carnival and a magazine that is so packed with content, it bends space and time. This Best Issue Ever (tm) is more than 180 pages thick and brimming with articles, including the most comprehensive smartphone test, a look at future cars, an exploration of tech in superbikes, superstring theory, and a look at life without Google (yes, it's possible). The Anniversary package also contains an 80-page Jumbo Fast track which will help you choose the right career within the IT industry. Also included is an Interactive Magazine which will help you earn a supplemental income using your PC and the power of the internet. The June 2009 issue also contains another Fast Track — making it the first month ever to offer a total of two; dedicated to Mobile Apps — whether you are a Symbian, Windows Mobile, Palm, iPhone, or Java-based phone owner, this Fast Track will help you find the right software.

And don't forget our regular two dual-layer DVDs packed with software, games, and videos! Plus we have a month of online and onground activities which will extend our Anniversary celebration across the entire month of June.

Is this Linux Mint 7 an RC1? because the stable version just released on 26th May 2009

Thanks for Windows 7 RC1.

What about the Fast Track and its contents? What about Digit and FT PDFs on the DVDs?

You promised more GBs of software on page 28-29 of the May issue but you dint fulfill it and just gave the regular DVDs. That's a disappointment again.

Thanks for the jquery javascript framework.
I am really impressed. This is exactly what i requested in the feedback section of last month issue.
Really awesome DVD content.

@nitinm
working on it, we have a reader made build as of now.

What? Still working it doesn't take even a day for an average developer to make it and to design it in a good way. Being geeks why can't you make it in 6 months? Working on the simple software built on .NET for that many months may be you should try giving it as a project to TCS and get it done in much less time.

Everything in the "licensed" section in the second DVD. Some software have the usernames and keys in a readme file in the folder having the software. Some software are made as a distributable free build. A few (curvy3d for example) are full but dated versions of paid software. The Ashampoo software have to be registered from within the program itself.

@topgear
FDM in the DVD is the current version, the name is still the old one. Opera, Irfan View, VLC, K-lite, Utorrent and Winrar have the latest updated versions (as of today) in the July DVD. Thanks for pointing that out.

Am 17 yrs old, a junior designer (*www.esnips.com/web/trexaurus-images), novice programmer, and so called "geek" in my surrounding. Anything thats on my mind is just computer.

I think this time DIGIT has headed to much perfection. Be it in Front cover design, creativity, and I think it has researched a lot in content keeping in mind the web developers who would find this edition awesome. The web-dev tools in DVD are really so much in popularity and demand.

I would like to thank DIGIT from my side to providing me all those tools as it saved me lot of my time downloading each of 'em from respective websites.

And I also congratulate on the quality of packaging this time, it is awesome.

Suggestion : PLEASE try giving white grounded front cover in the next issue.

This issue is so good in contents that it is even comparable to April 2001 issue of erstwhile Chip. The golden days of Gaurav Jaswal. The standard of magazine fast deteriorated after his exit. Every few months, change in editor doesn't help. I hope Raabo is here to stay and try to give Digit the same heights as by Gaurav bhaiyya.

The Pros :

1st of all congrats for the great issue. The review on mobile was one of the best one I've ever read. The other articles like Virtualy Portable, Web Watch, Mobile watch, always on, cybercafe security, synchronocity, push mail, wonder wheel, car 2.0, Tips & Tricks, Mobile phone accessories, Game reviews etc. was also good.

Now the cons :

1st of all the level of black used for text in many pages was just too light.
It's really causes eye pain if you try to read a article for long time.
The font size increased for sure but the text are too much light now.
I was perfectly fine with those fonts published in may.
Please from the future issue use fonts in bright black color like may.

On DVD content page you put the description of the Windows RC 1 for
linux mint gloria & vice versa.

the second one is Palit Radeon HD 18100 ( which one you are reffering to )
Next you suggested 2x Zotac GTX 285 but I think 2x GTX 295 is much more
better choice.

On speaker section 1st one is none but there is very good 2.1 speakers available like you told in May 2008 issue.

in cpu section amd athlon 6000+ is only 2850 !!

The Fast Track : Again the Fast Track to mobile apps is one of the best I've ever read & the Fast Track to Tech Careers is well catagorized. The interactive FT on Make Money from home is also a innovative thing :p

The DVD contents are very good. The licensed softwares provided will reduce some piracy for sure. I think some videos/Trailers should be reduced & you guys should provide more tech, how-to videos & some really good old movies.
Since we all know a good movie does not depends on color. A good movie is just good for all times. I reall lik 7 watch those movies you provide on discs..

Conclusion : Though the fonts used are light ( the level of black ) in many pages ( I think the digit guys will look at it ) & it does have some minor glitches the quality of the articles are just so great it's worth every buck buying this magazine this month. I'm giving this months magazine 8 out of 10.

Have they ever gave a full version game??

They provided the Burnout Paradise which is a full game(about 3 Gb) .you only need the valid key. and its really a wonderfull game to play.
Pay and Get is the good way to find the key.

I forgot to mention! They also provided SAM & MAX Able Lincoln Must die! in May 2008 issue. You'll get Urban Terror 4.1 in December 2008 issue as well.

^its for enterprises, you can install it on upto 25 computers

Its the Total Network Inventory 1.6, thats for 25 computers but for Almeza MultiSet, its a Trial and does not allow to create a disc, its absolutely useless. There are other software also that are required to be pay and register, its no full version or licensed copy its just a trial. There are only a few software in the Licensed section that are Full Version and can be registered for unlimited use, others are either trial. There is no license information given in the Almeza MultiSet folder and when you click on Get Full Version, it takes you to a website where you need to pay for it.

I have been fighting to Rip a DVD with Extra DVD Ripper for the past three hours and I am still unsuccessful...I dont know if that also works.

got the mag yesterday..second DVD (Licensed Software ) is missing in the pack.. i think i will got it today from the retailer..

most of the readers requests have been considered.. and i am very happy about it.. fast track to tech career absolutely a necessary guide in these days.. a timing presentation..
Pl change the DVD menu Layout and it looks outdated..
But Fast Track to Mobile App felt so clumsy.. (it could have been covered more information about Mobile OS )..
totally its worth of Rs.200/-
and Finally,
this month digit is win the race other had sucks (my personal opinion:-o)

The so called software worth Rs.30,000/-, most of them are trial versions (Eg: Almeza MultiSet and Jitbit System Purifier), some are already given by digit earlier (Eg: Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009) and some do not work (Eg: Extra DVD Ripper Express) and for those that work may not be of use to everyone but specific people and /or there are Open Source or Freeware available that can do much better than the stuff provided on the Digit DVD. As far as the stuff Rs.30,000/- is concerned, its a BIG disappointment.

The Linux Mint 7 Gloria provided on the DVD is the RC and not the stable version, but its not mentioned anywhere that its an RC

Thank you for the Windows 7 RC.

PDFs in the December issue
I thought of buying this but I'm hesitating because of lack of PDFs.
I twitch at the thought of spending Rs. 400/year on magazines when I already get broadban and phone bills @ Rs. 2000/month

Anyway, guess its still a good buy otherwise. Going out to store today evening or tomorrow morning.

First of all let me congratulate to all the team members of DIGIT for their 8th anniversary.I just started reading this awesome! magazine on all the tech related things you want to know about in this world, really DIGIT has it's own place in the heart of it's readers.you guyz are doing a great job,but let me tell you that i still fell something missing.I am just crazy about latest games and hardwares, although you try to represent the reviews of latest hardwares but if you add 3-4 more hardwares in that section then i think it become more better. In your June issue i like that you provide extra knowledge on mobile softwares,OS,Hardwares,etc....And i also like the book on tech careers, coz i just passed 12th n it helps me a lot in deciding my career in animation and gaming.Overall i am fully satisfied with your june issue....keep it up coz now expectations got higher....
Best of luck for future!!!

Hello Guys, I am subscribed to digit from 4 years..
Till now i did not receive any problems, this month(june)
I am facing problems with my DVD i.e "Licensed Software worth over Rs.30,000" DVD.
I am not able to open any folder in it & not even able to copy even one wallpaper....
Its very dissappointing... Did any one of you face the same problem?

According to me this DVD is not worth Rs.30,000 as it doesn't even contain any files.
Only the Digit Flash auto player works & not any installations or wallpapers....

Digit geeks have to see this & i am waiting for some compensation...!

Bought the issue today! It was a top notch issue. It's even better than your 7th anniversary issue. The two fast tracks came at the right moment as I was seeking them. Thanks for the Fast Track to Tech Careers.. :)

This time even the cardboard was solid enough to save it from damage.

As for the magazine... you have brought out an excellent issue this month...I love you Digit I love you....

At last I would say it was a VFM issue.... :) Please continue the excellent work... :)

EDIT: No doubt.. the contents of the mag and fast tracks were great but I didn't find your DVD contents good this time. Except for the RC1 others were not a taste for many people. The multimedia contents were boring too. :( I think the best softwares and games Digit gave was in the December 2007 issue in those 5 DVDs. I hope this December Digit doesn't disappoint us...

well let me bet the spoiler of the party here, although the contents of magazine are usual very good, but what about the content of DVD's?
common the edition where we got entire adobe suite was way better..........every major pc magazine had ubuntu 9.04,but what we got was linu-mint rc........

i really think the content of the DVD's wasn't good enough to be charging 200....i am sorry to say, even w/o ubuntu, conents were very average.......

i had been buying other magazine for past few months which has better dvd content and comparable magazine content......i think i will go with that frm next month....

sorry digit, jan 2009 was way better than this one....

I do feel the same. I did not even feel that this edition was a Anniversary Issue or a special edition. It was just like a normal edition though i felt that only magazine contents of this month was good, than the media provided with the edition.
