Yesterday i tried to upgrade my ubuntu 5.10 to 6.06 using the software update manager. When i rebooted my PC i was not able to use GNOME display..... its showing dat there is some pro with xserver. So i used the following command :

Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

But dis didn't solve my pro.... and while booting there was some error in starting and configuring PCMCIA services........

Looks like the upgrade wasn't clean maybe. But, first if you can give us the proper error then someone will be able to help out better.

Also give the output of uname -r
It happened to me while updating to 6.10, that kernel wasn't updated so there were many problems, like xserver not starting and network interface also could not start.

Yup it is either a kernel or init problem. Looks like xorg is unable to find DRI modules and fails to start.
