1. is an amd athlon II x4 630 or phenom II x4 series better suited for work as well as for playing latest games than a intel core 2 quad processor?
budget:7k{work means surfing the web,projects,student work}
2. which motherboard is better suited for any of the above processors :
biostar
gigabyte
intel
it should also be such a motherboard that is compatible with many processors.
3. and are ddr2 rams compatible with ddr3 motheboards and processors ?
4. which is more important for gaming and work:
cache size
bus speed
core speed :?: :?:

p.s: wat is meant by vfm?

^+1. Better mention you budget. Members will post the best config in that budget.

AMD Quad Core is better than Intel(in terms of VFM)
Phenom II X4 is better for gaming and better than Athlon II X4

2. which motherboard is better suited for any of the above processors :
biostar
gigabyte
intel

All of the boards are reliable except Intel Chipsets. I would suggest Gigabyte.

3. and are ddr2 rams compatible with ddr3 motheboards and processors ?
Yup

4. which is more important for gaming and work:
cache size
bus speed
core speed

All.

Yup

No DDR3 rams are not compatible with DDR2 motherboards and processor. You cannot fit a DDR3 ram in a mobo, having DDR3 slot( Physically you can fit, as both are having 240 pin config, but they won't run). 2ndly, new Phenom II and Athlon II (AM3 socket) processors support both DDR3 and DDR2 rams, but not in a same motherboard.

And new Phenom II 955 and 965 priced @ 7.7k and 8.7k respectively, delivers almost same or slightly better performance than the Intel Core 2 Quad 9550, priced at 14k. So Performance/Price ratio goes for AMD.

Your best deal would be
AMD Phenom II X4 925 @ 7k
Biostar TA785G3 HD @ 4k
Total 11k.

What you meant by nvidia 6200? old graphics card?
Throw it away man IGP HD 4200 is far better than that.
