I want to buy a new processor and motherboard . My budget is around 12k. Please suggst a good one. I will be using it for gaming and multimedia . I have a GTX 260. I cant decide between Quad core or Core 2 Duo.

I think that crosses the budget.....
You will be able to get the Phenom I 9650/9680 neway.
