Is it possible to use bluetooth technology in remote controls instead of the InfraRed technology? If yes, then how it might b possible to do the same?

How does a bluetooth dongle or a bluetooth reciever(in general) works?

Yes offcorse it is very much possible and also we can get a MAX range of 100 Meters, perphaps there are some devices available in market which has remote operating bluetooth controllers.
