I am on the lookout for a replacement for my LG G2. Most of my requirements have been mentioned above. I basically want a replacement worthy of G2 which will serve me long. I have been using G2 for 3 years now.I would like a phone with good build quality which can withstand a little rough use with good battery backup(I travel a lot and also my reason for water/ dust resistance)

S8+ was selling here in local market for around 35k during sales. It will get atleast Android 10 so you should be okay with it+Samsung is becoming good with the patch updates nowadays.

Head over to xda to know some real life experiences. Do not take into consideration the reviews by their staff.

Why do you have Poco F1 in consideration then? Nokia 8.1 is similarly sized to Poco.

If you want something compact, get S8 or LG G7 for ~30k during sales. I doubt there are any other good options for compact phones. Check Samsung stores locally.

BTW S8's camera is better than all other phones of that budget (till 40k) even OP6T. Dual camera provides a better portrait mode, that's it. Install Pixel camera from xda for a better portrait mode in S8.

On going through GSMArena for phones in 5.5 to 6.1 range with OLED and IP certification i came up with 15 options out of which some iam not sure are available here and some like S8, S9, Z3, Huawei P20, Mate series and Note series are over my budget. Only real options in these are Galaxy A8(2018),Galaxy A8+, LGV30+ & Nokia 8 Sirocco. What do you guys suggest and why? I will also do a search for phones with IPS display which might give me better options and post it here shortly.

On searching for devices with IPS devices with rest of above specifications resulted in giving me only LG G7 ThinQ as the only promising option. Can someone advice me as to how important is having IP68 or water/dust resistant certification in selecting a device?. I chose it because i travel a lot in public transport and spend time outdoor and take a lot of calls and being little rough user. While many of the mid level mobiles give a lot of flagship level spec, do they tone down on the build quality to mange the cost?( That is my worry). How good are honor 10 & POCO F1 in terms of build quality?

I have LG G6 (which recently got the ThinQ update, so it's also more closer to G7 software wise) so I think I can comment on some of your concerns.
I bought this phone (the costliest phone I ever bought) only for these reason:
> Camera (It have an Excellent camera)
> IP68 resistant: I have boasted about this certification by literally washing the phone with tap water in front of my colleagues. I love its water resistance. People have also taken this phone for a spin under swimming pool and got excellent footage, while I myself wont try it, since in theory IP68 is only applicable for fresh water. This certification not just means that it's resistant to water, it also means its packed tight enough not to let even dust in. Read more her: What the heck is IP68? | Hub | Three
> Looks. Damn, its a beautiful phone. (Imgur album: LG G6 - My First Flagship smartphone [bandwidth heavy])
And the phone also had a bonus of providing a QuadDac, so that was a plus, which I will benefit when I will buy a deserving headphone.

For me IP68 is great to have, since I don't have to worry about water anymore. I know if I get stuck in rain, my phone have a good chance to survive it. I do have to care about it's protection though since it's made of glass. And so is G7. I protect it using a hard case from Spiegen. It's a costly case, but the phone deserve it.

Mid level mobiles does tone down the quality of the phone. That was THE main reason why I had to resort to buying a flagship phone, cause this time I didn't want to compromise on anything. (For eg, many phones compromise on compass, a very basic sensor to have).

If you decide to go for G7, do remember that LG have it's own software, and it doesn't come with vanilla Android. I got use to it by replacing the LG launcher with Nova. I advice to go through the reviews and Reddit sub for G7 thoroughly and know the phone's pros and cons before finalizing the decision to buy it.

Personally even if G7 is better on paper when it comes to raw specs, I would still prefer V30 for a simple reason. The Notch. The UGLY notch.
I know it can be turned off, but I prefer not having it in the first place.

But that's just me. Many people don't have any issue with the notch, and supporting the blatant rip off of Apple.

If you aren't in a hurry, wait for sales on S8 or LG G7. Get any of them. For S8, Pie will be the last update. As G6's Pie update is uncertain, consider G7's last update to be Pie as well.

I think S8 would have a better primary cam than G7 but the wide angle lens gives you a different view. In daylight pics, the difference isn't noticeable even between S8 & G6. But the AMOLED of S8 is on a different level compared to any IPS. So any one of them for 30k is a great deal IMO. The main problems with V30+ are its size (width) & selfie cam, just average for a flagship.

IP certification just gives a peace of mind in rain. I have been using IP rated phones for 3+ years now & except for rain, the only other stuff that required IP rating is washing my phone. Its nice to have but not a big deal breaker.

Honor 10 isn't worth getting at 25k & Poco F1 is good but it takes a hit in build quality. Although, the armoured edition has a good build (the internal build is good for even the plastic version). At 24k, it is a great choice. I would highly recommend installing a stock based ROM & pixel cam for a better experience with Poco F1.

For 25k, Poco F1 has a better chipset & camera but suffers in looks. Honor 10 looks good for sure, but so does Asus 5Z which is also priced similarly & it does everything better. Nokia 8.1 is also a better choice compared to Honor 10 because of a much better camera, similar performance, stock android & better brand value.

The only case when Honor 10 is a good choice is if you need a compact phone. Then again with G7 & S8 getting priced at 30k during sales, Honor 10 is in a tricky position.

Just saw today that FK has put up V30+ for sale at 27,999. Amazon is at 31,550. While going through the spec found out that model being sold is H930DS which is actually V30 with 128GB & 4 GB RAM( Was under the impression until today that it was V30S ThinQ which is a 2018 model). V30 + is 2017 model. Didn't see much in the comparison on GSMarena other than OS. Is it still advice able to go for a two year old model at this price?. Is it worth it?. Or should i check for any other phones? Please advice urgently. Need to decide before it goes out of sale at FK.

For mobile phones I would not suggest buying a 2 years old model unless it is iphone because its resell value even then would be higher than similarly old android phones.

The one in Amazon & FK seem same to me. The "2018" model of V30 is just a marketing gimmick when ThinQ software package came out. Both are same except for 6GB RAM in V30S. Both should get the same number of android updates, Pie, that should be last.

It is 1.5 years old now & S8 is almost 2 years old now. But those 2 are some of the best choices at 30k in India if you need an overall good phone (for performance, Poco F1). You can always choose G7 or Poco F1 Armored edition (6GB variant) for something newer. S8's camera is still better than OP6T (except for portrait mode). What you lose with old flagships are software updates. But newer android versions don't add anything significant. Upcoming One UI update for S8 is kind of significant, but usually, it still looks & feels same, mostly.

LG V30 is one of the most durable phone and if I had option between LG V30 and One plus 6 I would still buy LG V30.
Pros
Water & Dust Resistance (IP68), Highly Durable With MIL-STD 810G.
Wide angel camera
Quad DAC
QHD OLED display
Handy
Snapdragon 835 is still much better than any chipset in mid range

Con
UI

Those features alone are enough to get this phone for 30k

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a good VFM choice IMO. Will easily last for next 2-3 years.

Poco F1 armored edition at 22/23k is good as well. Flash it with stock android ROM & pixel camera, it becomes a very good device. MIUI is good as well & there are no ads on Poco yet.

Nokia 8.1 is another good choice, a bit pricey due to the brand name but still better than Samsung mid-rangers. V30+ at 28k is not a bad deal. Or wait for a week, G7 might go for under 30k again.

It is a decent LCD panel, doesn't seem bad in any way:
Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi review

Apple iPhone XR might have a far superior LCD, but for under 30k, I don't see it as a con at all (notch is a different thing). There should be option in settings to change display temperature, etc in settings of MIUI.

Quick question. FK Republic day started. Other than already mentioned G7 and V30 +, below available. Please suggest urgently.

Galaxy S8 - 30,990
Pco F1- Armored Version-25,999
Pixel 2 XL (64GB)-38,499
Galaxy S8 Plus- 34,990
S8+ has a bigger screen & battery, if you want those. Otherwise S8 is same. Pixel 2 XL has a bit better camera & better speakers but lack headphone lack. Stock vs Samsung UI is a personal preference. Samsung UI isn't poorly optimized like Oppo or Vivo ones. Poco F1 is the best performer among them.

Pixel 2 XL will get Q, others will remain in Pie. I don't like the new navigation system of stock android Pie though, traditional 3 button layout is faster for daily usage.

So choice is upto you. All of them are good with Samsungs & Pixel being better suited to your requirements.

I personally feel that the Samsung Experience/One Ui is better than stock. Smooth like a butter.

Its personal preference really. Stock fans would bash any heavily skinned android most of the times. Stock is faster for sure but I'm personally willing to trade few milliseconds lower response time for more features built in.

Something like oxygen OS of OP is a better solution but not many manufacturers do it.

Oos is full of bugs nowadays. It won't run basic Android apps which all phoned are running. Check their bug report page, it has weird bugs. What they are doing is release a phone every 6 months, regularly update it, but port the same phone's rom to the older iterations in the name of update. Pie is totally messed up for the 5t. They have poorly ported 6/6t's rom along with a notch.

You can't go wrong with it bro. What major difference is there between oreo and pie? Nothing.

I am not asking about just the software. I am asking about overall spec and features of S8+ and whether spending around 30 k for a 2 yr old device?

From the hardware perspective, compare the s8+ with any of the phones selling in that range today and it would beat them all. Of course on the paper the new phones will have an advantage like new processor but that won't matter as per your usage.

Are you able to use dual 4g in your s8?

Got really confused as to which to buy between S8 & S8+. Finally ordered S8+ for 33K (Applied HDFC cashback offer of 4K. Price will be effectively 29K).Hope i did right by choosing S8+ over S8 and it's not too tall. Thanks for all your help.:)

Can anyone also suggest me the best case for S8+ ?

Only major con might be lack of updates after Pie, should get security updates till the end of the year or maybe a bit more. Otherwise, S8/S8+ are great, better camera than most other choices including OP 6T (except for portrait mode), Pixel 2 XL is better, V30+/G7 might match it. S9 doesn't have a big camera jump although S9+ is better because of the 2nd camera. The SoC is similar to S835 which is good even now (outmatched by S845 of Poco in this price) & will be good for next few years.

Samsung has a switch app, don't exactly remember its name but its good, even transfers app data from other Android devices.

Congrats.

Unless you have small hands, you won't regret it. The better battery life definitely helps over S8.

First of all buy a phone insurance policy:

Oneassist has a 7 days limit to get a newly purchased mobile insured.

If you have money to shell out then Spigen otherwise any case that does not mess with the protector.
There are no good tempered glass protectors for screens with curved edges just screen protectors.

That link is emphasizing on stolen phones+this is an exclusion-
If the phone suffers a mechanical or electronic breakdown.

So, if the mobo is fried, will it be covered or not? Most important question, will they cover damages to the screens or not?

I believe mechanical or electronic breakdown refers to usual wear & tear or maybe damage due to inbuilt breakdown(like those mobile batteries exploding because of manufacturing defect) but not sure.
