1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A:Gaming (On March 22, Crysis 2 should run at 1920 x 1080, All Video specs at Ultra-High)

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A:Yes please

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 50K (approx)

4. Planning to overclock?
A: Nope

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 1 TB

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: 24" at 1920 x 1080

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A:7

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: Have put together few low-end systems. Would love to build this one, but if it goes over my head, then will have run to an assembler.

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: This week / next week

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: Yes

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: Already have Monitor, Speakers, DVD writer, Keyboard, Mouse and UPS

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A:Bangalore (No, would prefer to do all purchases here unless there is a ridiculous difference)

14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: Bring SKOAR! back to life, you lazy *******s. Also, this is the config I put together:

MB: Intel DX58SO: 13,000.00
Processor: i5 2500: 11,000.00
GPU: GTX 460: 15,000.00
HD:1 TB SATA: 2,650.00
RAM: DDR3 4GB 2,400.00
Cabinet: 2,000.00
SMPS:CM 650W: 6,500.00
TOTAL 52,550.00

Please let me know your thoughts, especially on the graphics card. Thanks in advance.

x58 doesn't support sandy bridge i.e. i5 2500k get asus p8p67 pro @12k
gtx 460 is old..get msi gtx560Ti Twin Frozr II/OC @15.5k
which cabinet..~2k range NZXT gamma is the best but IMO get intel DP67BG mobo @8.5k and get a better cabinet like CM 690 II advanced
for PSU CM is not good..get corsair cx550..if you want to sli later then you should get tx750

Edit: sorry for mistake..it'll be corsair vx550!!

Is the i5 2500k the best bang-for-buck option between the various i5s and i7s ?

And if i stick with the i5 2500k, how much better is the asus p8p67 pro over the DP67BG? (From what i read up right now, the asus board would only support xfire and not sli but will have usb3 which the intel board doesnt)

And it looks like the cabinet and the smps are going to hurt me more than I thought.

Definitely...

DP67BG has 2*usb 3.0 ports, take a look, Intel® Desktop Board DP67BG - Overview
Asus p8p67 pro supports SLI, look here, ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards - ASUS P8P67 PRO

And it looks like the cabinet and the smps are going to hurt me more than I thought.
why so?

hey, this looks awesome. thanks a lot !! Just one question ... whats the head-to-head between ATI HD 6950 and the GTX 560 Ti ?

@Piyush and manju: I was thinking that the case + smps would come to around 8k (as opposed to 13k now) but from snooping around in a few tech forums i found that these do make a difference. And the total for the above config adds up to less than my previous config, which is awesome.

^^get any you want. if 560 then look at MSI GTX560 Twin Frozr II OC/Asus GTX 560 Ti Direct Cu II @ 14.5k. if 6950 then sapphire.

What features does the ASUS board provide that the Intel board doesn't. I mean how is the higher price justified?

OP,
why do you want to run Crysis 2 on 22-march only???
Yes go with Jaskanwar's config. Its very good one.
But i would suggest you to go with the Radeon 6950.

Check it here:

Hehe, in my defence, I never said March 22 only.

Thats the release date (am sure guys already know that:)), also implied is the assumption that a comp that can run it on March 22 can also run it on March 23.

Quality dude, Asus is the best quality mobo in India. That is why I have ordered a Asus P8P67 DELUXE, but waiting for the B3 stepping version :(
Also Asus has GUI BIOS, which is not there in Intel mobo, I guess. And you also have additional expansion slots and an added southbridge which gives you more option to connect 4(or 2, not sure about the number) more HDDs.

err. what is B3 stepping. google doesnt give me a good answer to the question.
lordirecto
Mar 13, 2011 at 8:34 PM
B2 stepping was the version of the chipset used by Intel when they released the P67 chipset, and that had a problem that will make the SATA connectors unusable over a period of time. To solve this problem, Intel released a new corrected version of the chipset, called B3 stepping.

I get your point but it sounds strange to me that ASUS take the chipset from Intel and make a better mobo than Intel does, considering Intel is no amatuer mobo maker. Something like Ghajini being better than Memento. Hope you get my point.

it is not the case dude..if you had checked the design of these two board then you would see the difference..and moreover asus just hired the chipset from intel but design, build quality, features, materials are of their own and they are different and so the price difference!!

nothing like that. intel is of very good quality.
slots are same except intel has an extra pcie x1 while asus has pcie x4.

coming to sata ports -
its not extra southbridge. its just marvel controller which gives 2 extra sata 6gbps ports.
asus has extra phases but intel one is also strong in overclocking.
only thing thats worthwhile imo is UEFI.

thats you know what? a beast. its better than asus maximus IV extreme which is 22k!
it is around 17k i think.

@Jas: I am not sure how you are able to tell Intel mobos have an equal quality as Asus. From my exp, the first Intel board I owned went up in smoke, I have no idea why after I spoke with a few people here.
