When I started with jb i was getting around 4 hrs of playback on mx player with still some juice left.
1% lasted around 3 mins which means 1 hr playback equalled 20% loss in battery.
But now i can't watch a single movie in one charge although i get decent backup in standby and there is 1%/min during surfing.
My battery condition seems good physically but as the original one costs 2.4k i want your suggestions.
Current os is lollipop.

Root your phone, hibernate user apps using greenify and remove non required apps from startup. Install Batterbatterystats and then report the usage details. Also, switch off wifi, bluetooth, auto sync, etc when not required

HOW OLD is the original battery?

1.5 yrs and phone is rooted and useless Sammy apps removed.
But since video playback is reduced drastically.

Well I guess the battery has run its course, time to get a new battery. I honestly can't say, cause I never even had a phone for that long. Isn't there any app on Play which can check the endurance?

Ot . Did you trip Knox while rooting ? My i9500 (1yr old ) lasts nearly a day and no more , under light to moderate usage . All stock no root . My s3 ( i9300) 2.5yrs old lasts easily a day and a bit more , all stock no root and light to moderate use . Moto g (2013) 1yr old lasts up to 1.75 days , both sims on and same usage pattern as above .

Did you charge your phone with 3G/2g on? one of my friend Galaxy S4 battery died because of same reason. The battery really swelled up & suddenly got discharged. Yes, you will need a new battery.

Ok gonna buy new battery soon.
A side question
Is exposed framework available for lollipop because it is not working for me. I want to use gravity box.

Did you even try what I suggested in post #2?

its not necessarily a hardware issue, ive had batteries last me 6 months or even 7-8 years on my phones
first backup and try flashing back stock rom and see if it gets back normal battery life,if not reflash the backup (nandroid) and buy a new battery

+10000 to this,it would be wrong to jump to conclusions without ruling out a software fault

I am getting pretty good backup in normal usage but problem comes when playing hd movies or games. It drains quickly.
Gonna try this hibernate though.

Also does using a charger of different specs affect battery life?

Nah, Xposed won't work on TW ROMs, bootloop. But you can try those Cyanogen Mod stuffs and install Xposed, if that's your thing that is.

It shouldn't, why what charger are you using?

And ever since i upgraded to lp chrome and facebook keeps crashing and wallpaper turns to default blue.

I used to use face unlock feature before but it is missing.
Have Googled for it and now the new bullsheet called trusted face is not showing anywhere in security.

it does for certain phones
dunno the exact science behind it but you can just google it,youll see more on this especially with powerbank vs charger battery performance

Get a good charger, I mean it doesn't have to be Samsung, but I am sure you are not using a Chinese one!

And full wipe the phone (recovery- master wipe, cache, dalvik and whatever else is there) I mean install the Lollipop cleanly. Take backup if needed before, with Titanium Pro (not Nandroid), restore stuffs later.

No idea about Face Unlock, I don't even use a lockscreen.

You can also use Ampere to determine charge/discharge rate of the battery

Thanks for ampere. Till now battery health is showing good. Will see after fully charged.
Btw lollipop suckks most of my calls are received or rejected in pocket itself.

LOL, how is that possible? Did you have time to do a fresh installation?

Didn't have time for fresh installation.
I had cleared cache from recovery but sooner again the wallpaper reset started when using Chrome.
But at least someone provide solution provide solution for that call problem.
I keep my cell in pants with screen side towards me but this thing never happened in jb or kk. Sometimes the cell would hang and i can't receive or reject call.

But I have installed the firmware fresh from odin without resetting phone data.
Secondly when I put earphones it shows "unfortunately recommend apps has stopped"

You didn't reset the phone that is a major issue.

You need to get time to do a fresh installation. That is the procedure. Dirty flashing will always give problems.

So i have reformatted the phone about 5 times, fresh installed firmware, removed bloatware and reinstalled apps.
But at some point chrome still crashes and the wallpaper turns blue.
Just a waste of day it was.

Now this is certainly not a rom related issue. Try a custom rom.

just reflash Touchwiz Kitkat again after wiping the phone COMPLETELY
use it stock for 2-3 days minimum and see performance
dont put ANY apps to monitor battery etc

Well as far as I have seen for the first time touchwiz is performing properly. Rare lag is visible even in phone dial-er.

I have i9500 on stock lollipop . No app crashes at all ( I do a clean install , cache and data wipe from recovery and install rom from Odin ) but battery life is just as bad as before . Barely a day . Compared to that my moto g dual sim (2013) lasts at least 50% more .

I haven't seen 4.4.4 touchwiz so can't comment there but lollipop is looking better. I bet 5.1.1 will iron out many of the issues.

Lollipop isnt built around functionality
ios 8 and 5.1 Lollipop bugs are wayy too bad even compared to older versions, functionality has also suffered quite a bit
I think Windows will now catch on very soon
This scenario has happened in the past(Symbian and BB Os anyone?!)

Waiting for both of the next variants. Just hoping they Ios might end up showing a radical change this time around since android is surely going to make dual window in the next variant.

Yeah but that is the beauty of droid. But still I will always praise the simplicity of the windows.

Did anyone searched for my app crash problem on net. I need a proper solution.
Any app that requires net access is becoming difficult to use.
Also everytime i switch tabs. The page reloads.
