Where the iPhone is world’s hottest rumoured device ever, Samsung is getting in second place thanks to the succes of their Galaxy S line. As MWC 2013 approaching our insiders are working very hard on getting us information about upcoming devices which are going to be announced but this article has nothing to do with MWC. This article is all about Samsung’ next flagship device! Today, We of SamMobile are able to confirm more details about Samsung’s next flagship device! On December 20th, SamMobile hinted about Samsung starting sessions for a new high-end product. Now is the time to confirm this information with some extra details.
Samsung’s next flaghsip device built under codename “Project J” has now been changed to codename “Altius(J)”. The Samsung Altius will come in 2 colours black and white. Samsung will of course give the colours nicer names but we are currently unaware of them. Samsung is planning to ship the Altius starting from week 16, which simply means April 15. We expect Samsung to hold an unpacked event at MWC or sometime in March. Samsung could hold one of its mobile unpacked events in London, New York or even Korea.
We have even more information!

The rumour about the Galaxy S IV having wireless charging is real! Samsung will sell a separate dock and a back cover with wireless charging capabilities for the device. Samsung will make the wireless charging kit available a couple of weeks later after bringing the device itself on sale. The back cover with wireless charging indicates that the next generation Galaxy S device will have a removable back cover, just like company’s current flagship device the Galaxy S III. As we are talking about charging we can also confirm the battery capacity of the upcoming Galaxy S device. Samsung’s next flagship device will pack a 2600 mAh battery, the Galaxy S III uses a 2100 mAh battery.
Lets hope Samsung uses high quality materials on the next generation Galaxy S device, like it does on its Wave and Omnia line (Aluminum).

As you may have noticed till now, we haven’t pointed out the official name of Samsung’s next flagship device. The reason simply is that the name has not been finalized yet. Number 4 is believed to be bad luck in Korea. Samsung even changed the model number to GT-I9500. Yesterday, Mr. Shin (Vice President of Samsung Mobile) hinted at the name “Galaxy S IV”, Of course it’s still a mystery that the next generation Galaxy S device will indeed be called the Galaxy S IV or not.

Details about Samsung’s next flagship device which are 100% confirmed are listed below.
Code Name: Altius
Model Number: GT-I9500
Colours: Black / White
Battery Capacity: 2600 mAh
Special: Wireless Charging Kit
Rumoured specification of the next generation Galaxy S device are listed below.
The next Galaxy S is rumoured to feature an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, Mali-T658 (8-Core) GPU, 4.99″ Super AMOLED Full HD Resolution Display, 2GB of RAM, 13 Megapixel Rear facing Camera capable of shooting 1080p Full HD Videos at 30FPS, 2 Megapixel front facing camera capable of shooting 720p HD Videos and running Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Its time for this madness to stop, its one thing pushing the boundaries, its another thing putting a rocket engine in a car, stop at V12. 8core cpu? Do not want. This thing will heat up like an over, already quad cores tend to heat up a lot. Specially galaxy series. If you're gonna put a 8 core cpu then better put in a fan in there somewhere as well.

Also as far as specs goes, HTC butterfly has matched and outdone some of them, for eg it also has 2GB RAM and the front camera can shoot 1080P, if you are going to put a rocket engine in a car make sure rest of the specs match, do not put dunlop tires on that car.

Like everyone said don't expect an octa phone (S4) coming it will be quad which will be clocked more like 1.6(Note 2s) or 1.8GHz.

8 cores with only 4 cores active at a time??
How on earth does that qualify to be a 8 core device in the true sense?
The tegra is a 4-core device as we all see it, not 5 :/

I am not sure what SIV uses, please read up on ARM 'Big Little' computing, hope if the switching is used its this tech, else it will suck.

It has 4 cores clocked at lower ghz and 4 cores at higher ghz. Higher ghz cores only kick in when it needs. Don't ask for source of this information.

Are all cores same? Its a waste of energy and soc area, only two low powered A7 cores would get weaker jobs done, while the A15 cores could be used during games etc, read up on Arm Big Little Computing, it debuted this year.

Update: Yes, Exynos Octa core uses Big Little, that makes sense now: *en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big.LITTLE

It's a FAKE octa. Marketing BS by Samsung. It's a Quad Core chip, not octa. Having 20 companion cores won't make a quad core cpu 24 core.

It's just like Tegra 3/4. At least Nvidia was not shameless to market T3 as a 5 core CPU :pan:

Yeah, 4xA7 cores for low power tasks, 4xA15 for high power tasks, not true 8 core as only 4 cores will remain active at all times, performance wise this will be as powerful as Qualcomm Krait quad core, but with lower power consumption and heat(for normal use).

But normal people: 'Omg, octa core, omgbbtqff I have to have this, moar corres teh win, hurrrr"

Nokia first introduced 41-MP camera and OIS in mobiles. Now, Samsung is introducing Octa core processors. I wonder what will happen next...

Well they are stupid, I mean Nokia. 41 mp? Lol, any brand could come up with moarrr mp, but I'm glad there are fewer stupid brands. OIS with floating lens is a very good thing though.
Just wished human heart advanced at a 1/100 time of technology, then we'd have a better world.

They are both good features, not gimmicks.. The pureview camera is NOT about the number of megapixels, its about the technique (downsampling). And it is still unmatched in performance except by the L920, that too only in low light.

its not an octa core processor alright, but why are people so inclined towards not having powerful hardware in mobiles... o_O itll heat up a lot, the battery will drain out... chill guys.

i think if this forum existed when the computer industry went from celeron 800mhz - pentium 4 2.4ghz .... someone would have already commited suicide...

yes its BS marketing, yes its technically wrong. But out of 100 people standing in queue waiting to buy this phone at some mother of god 12:00 midnight launch in the freezing temperatures hardly 2 people will check wether it is really octa core or no. So whatever you say here, rant all you want its not going to change the way things happen...

one strategy that never fails

heehhe double quote.. :D

sam are do you mean that in a sarcastic way? :p
