Is it possible to fetch the serial number of the OS from the recovery disks? The OS installed in the machine(HP Pavillion) was Windows Vista Home Premium , and it has a recovery partion on my HDD, i upgraded the OS to Windows 7 Ultimate by using a MSDN key and made a recovery disk using the Recovery Disk creator software , but now the problem is tht when i try to restore my OS using the disk , i am getting Windows Vista OS only instead of Windows 7 :-o , i think the system is recovering from the HDD recovery partition instead from disk... so what i am trying to do is freshly install windows 7 with the same key , but since i made the recovery disk, i dint note down the serial :-(

If you installed from a MSDN key, you can go to msdn.microsoft.com and note down your key, or request for a new key just by logging in to your account. Also, you would have got it by mail, so it'll be in your mailbox.
