if u have a adsl router there are two ports one for usb and one for ethernet connect one computer to usb and one to ethernet or their is one more way of connecting through a switch or hub but the first one has no jhanjhat

if u dont have adsl modem then:
if u have lan cards on both computers , buy a RJ 45 (la cable) make them crossover cable.but speed will fall heavily with distance.
another way
buy a hub ,make a straight cable ,
ip addressing give 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2(network connection properties, use help and support in windows)
and u r done.google with images to understand cables.
