i bought a new laptop a week ago. HP DV6 2005ax..
it has windows 7 home premium 32 bit.
It has a 320 gb hdd. i cant seem to shrink the c: drive beyond 153 gb..
Is there is any solution to shrink it to like 50gb or smaller?

I have 1 more query - is the windows firewall good enough or should i install some 3rd party firewall?

Try shrinking the drive by using EASEUS Partition manager.

Regarding your second question, yes Windows Firewall is good enough.

hello,
i tried the same thing on a hp laptop in my hostel the guy had two partitions only
c with os n d with recovery
i installed partition software n deleted the d drive to expand the pantitions as per need but cudlnt boot again.
therefore take note n first get backup, ur os installation disks
n then use win 7 or vista which ever u need then resize the partition as u need
