I've been wanting to go for a new AGp based card for long....am too tired of my geforce2.

My system is amd athlon 2000 xp with 256 mb ram.
I know its an outdated system, but that's all i have now.

i recently checked out a dealer in lamington rd, who was offering a nvida 6200 with 256 mb ram (AGP) with 2 yrs warranty for 4.5k.

Shud i go for the card, is it worth going for a new card at this stafe or shud i wait for a year to upgrade my pc? (ya, 1 year, wont get to upgrade earlier than that).

Want to know, what u tech gurus out here think...

PS : Happy New Year every1...

yes go for XFX or leadtek 256MB, 128bit geforce 6200 graphic card for about 4K.Make sure that u get a 128bit card.
for more details about this card see the following post
*www.thinkdigit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13761&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=900

The next other option would be Geforce 6600 (nonGT) for 6K

BIG is also good.CHeck the free software u r getting with BIG/XFX/Leadtek then decide which one to go for.
and also remember make sure that u get a 128bit card even if u get a 128MB card.Memory doesnt matter.

why geforce 5200?????when he is going for 6200 model?????
go for 6200 model
and better dont get 256MB ram bcoz the motehrboard supports max of 2 RAM modules only.SO try to buy the max amount RAM u can.So get 512MB.

Better go for it dude, it will last one year atleast at low settings for sure, coz it supports Pixel Shader 2 (i guess)

Then after a year jus jump into the Dual core 64+ generation or whichever is latest :)

do 1 thing.... buy XFX 5200 128 MB... only matter of one year...... next year when u will upgrade your PC.. go for Inel Dual Core with 2GB RAM and a 256/512 MB Graphics Card which will be 16x PCI, [if you want go for SLI]

5200 is good and u can play almost all games but some games @800x600.

Happy New Year.....

thanks for the responses guys...
now confused whether to go for 5200 or 6200...and my cpu runs at 1.7 ghz or so...so the cpu shudnt be a bottleneck for the card, which seems like a possibility for the 6200...anything around 4k or less wud be cool...and am certainly looking at the cards around that range..

If u have a AGP slot purchase a gphx card, a 6600 prefferable :)

But before even thinking about purchasing a gpx card, I seriously think u need atleast 256 MB ram to play most games, be it new or old @ good rates w/o chops :(

afterwards he will upgrade processor.
and btw who told u this?you are all creating nonsense
then now i will tell amd2000 will also be a bottleneck for geforce5200 also.So get geforce 4 Ti.
and also get 512MB ram otehrwise it will be a bottleneck again.

PS you should first read the min system requirements bfore posting this stupid nonsense.
