Just asking ppl whether Digit Forum runs on Apache or Not

I recently came across a site which shows what OS n Server a Website uses.

Code:
[URL]*uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=www.thinkdigit.com%2Fforum[/URL]

Is it true...Digit forum relies on Apache?....i thought MS IIS;)

Why is Apache so famous?

VB and other such scripts (forums to be exact :p) run on php. They can very well run on IIS too!

Apache is available for wide range of OS including Unix, FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris, Novell NetWare, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, OS/2, TPF, and eComStation.

Since April 1996 Apache has been the most popular HTTP server on the World Wide Web. As of June 2008 Apache served 49.12% of all websites ;)

www.microsoft.com is running MS-IIS on Windows Server 2008, not on 'unknown' ;) Windows Server 2008 is by far the best from MS and performance and reliability wise, it is what MS promised in Vista.

Why is Apache so famous?
Because it is highly stable, scalable, customisable and very compatible with PHP forum softwares like vBulletin.

AFAIK vb and such scripts only work on Apache & Linux servers.
It works on Microsoft IIS too...although it hogs a lot of RAM when doing that.

Motorbikes? No, its helicopters. :p

Thank you for clarifying. :)

As far as MS Server 08 is concerned, here is a quote given by S. Somasegar said back on 6th march that MS has been internally using Server 2008 for the past 9 months.
