i was using Netbeans 7 on Windows7 without any troubles for a long time.

now i have to work on LAMP and using NetBeans for PHP on Arch Linux
as soon as i dwnloaded and installed netbeans 7 on linux it took 5 min to stat the ide. 10 min to start XAMPP. 2min for minimize and restore

it restart several times, same result.
at this rate i wont be able to work.

Re: NetBeans making system sluggish

XAMPP on Linux?? Why so??

And I really don't recommend netbeans, you can use eclipse, otherwise use geany, emacs.

Re: NetBeans making system sluggish

nothing particular about XAMPP.
removed it after the post, was checking for startup times.

i know emacs would be nice or eclipse (personal fav for all devs), but my boss says he wants the netbeans project. (he does have his own peculiar ways)

loading times are like dark ages. (have lost a bunch of hair lately.)

Re: NetBeans making system sluggish

^^Well I don't face any such problems with Netbeans in Ubuntu. Try to update it to latest one. Though I really doubt whether updating the software would actually solve the problem. But still you can try.
