I dont know if this is right section to ask this but here I go.

I own a Asus R558UQ laptop. It has Intel HD 620 as integrated graphics and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX as discrete GPU.
Problem is, whenever Im working on laptop, be it gaming, browsing or even when it is idle, I notice considerable amount of lag. I checked the performance tab in Task Manager and noticed that this occurs whenever my GPU goes from X% usage to less than 10% and meanwhile Intel HD graphics usage goes from <10% to 70+ %

That means, during this time Intel GPU takes priority instead of Nvidia GPU.

I dont know why this is happening. I have Nvidia GPU as the primary GPU selected in driver settings.

Anyone else faced this issue?
Any help appreciated.

Probably because of nvidia optimus kicking in? Try to select intel one as default and use 940mx for games only.

Do you mean I should select Intel in Nvidia driver settings -> Global settings ?

And then manually select nvidia gpu for all the games I play?

Something like that. I don't have a laptop at the moment to give proper steps for it.
