suggestion for a new basic phone for an Elderly person

1. Budget - 3000 only (lesser the better)

2. Display type and size - > = for normal usage, one that works under sunlight will be good.

3. Dual sim - not required

4. Preferred choice of brand - any good Brand with ok ASS

5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera) - Not Required

6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc) - Any

7. Preferred connectivity options (3G, 4G ready) - Whatever

8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc) - Voice Call

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration - None

10. Any other info that you want to share -

  • Person is using a basic CDMA handset Samsung SCH B229 and dials only 2 numbers using speed dial. As Reliance is going to stop CDMA services and switch over to 4gGSM, a new Handset is needed which has a good Loud Voice volume similar (almost) to CDMA.
  • good battery backup will be better though not necessary.
  • Checked Nokia 105 but many people have reported voice call problems in it.
  • also, had a talk with a shopkeeper who said - if you opt for a non-branded handset like Lava, you will get better call volume compared to branded ones that all have soft volume.

lumia 430/435 may be? had gifted one to my grandfather. lumias have very good voice-quality in general. plus the phone is also very smooth & gives an almost lag-free experience.

edit: nvm. didn't notice the budget.

apart from budget, a physical keypad is preferred as that makes speed dial very easy.
