1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Mainly Programming, Big Data and casual Gaming (Battlefield, Far Cry, COD) at Full HD

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 70K

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Nope.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Dual Boot Windows 7 / Ubuntu

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes, 22" Full HD

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Have to buy complete System

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Next 2 - 3 weeks.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Have assembled few systems before.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Mumbai, will buy most stuff from Lamington Road.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Nope.

Following is config I've thought of after reviewing other threads and inputs to them from senior members here.

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H
RAM: GSkill Ripjaws X 8GB(2 X 4GB)
HDD: WD Blue / Black 1TB.
Cabinet: NZXT Gamma / NZXT Source Elite 210
PSU: Corsair SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W
GPU: Sapphie DUAL-X R9 270X
Monitor: Dell S2240L 22" IPS LED
DVD Writer: ASUS 24X Sata
KB / Mouse: Normal multimedia combo
Speaker: Which brand & model is good around 1K?

When you say programming what types of programme do you mean?
I would say you have chosen a lovely rig already, however you need to mention what you are gonna do specifically. And for the GPU I would definitely not suggest Sapphire, regardless of who says what about that brand :|

PS : You might wanna grab an SSD by increasing the budget a bit more.

Specific use for system will be:

Programming will involve Web Development, Mobile Apps, Big Data, Search and other misc stuff.
Gaming casually when I get bored or get sudden interest in playing games.
Movies & Music regularly.

I don't think SSD will serve any utility at the moment, might purchase it later if need be.

Please help me with benefit to go from H87 mobo to B85?

Ram -Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB -5500,
Isn't GSkill RipjawsX good?

PSU -Antec VP550P -3500,
Why Antec PSU?

Cabinet -Corsair 300R -4500,
I do not want to spend much on cabinet.

For Processor, try XEON E3-1245 v3 which is based on Haswell architecture and comes with HT. Price will be around 17 to 18K

For Motherboard, you can use a good B85 board as a cheaper H87 replacement. Check the motherboard product page for the number of SATA II, PCI-E ports available and make your decision accordingly.

For Ram, RipjawX, Vengeance or Kingston HyperX Blue will perform similarly at stock speed. Buy whichever is cheaper. But I strongly recommend you get a single 8GB module for now and add another 8GB later. Kingston HyperX Blue 8GB X 1 1600MHz will be available within 5K.

For cabinet, you can look for Cooler Master K350 @ 3.6K

Go with bavusani's rig, only with this change

XEON E3-1245 v3 as per Cilus's suggestion.
also keep the 300r its worth its price.

Thank you for suggestions, I like E3-1245 V3 as well, will check price difference and availability and make decision between them.

Reason to choose H87 was that it supports Smart Response Technology for SSD as I may buy SSD in future. I am not sure about practical aspects of that feature, but if its not worthy, I shouldn't have any issue going for B85 as well.

I don't think I would need more than 8GB in near future, 16GB should be max, which would anyways be possible with 2 more sticks of 4GB each. Thus I will have 2 Dual Channel kits. Or do you see need for more than 16GB?

For cabinet, I was actually thinking to go upto 2.5K and later get extra fans for proper cooling. Do you strongly recommend spending more on cabinet?

Hi Shiva, I am not keen on spending more than 2.5K on cabinet unless there really is need for it. I would rather consider spending on proper cooling with extra fans.

What do you suggest for PSU? Is Antec any good in compared to SeaSonic?

How much good a cabinet should be? Isn't NZXT Gamma any good?

- - - Updated - - -

After going through all suggestions once again, have following queries.

1. Mobo: Apart from number of SATA ports, H87 has Smart Response Technology for SSD over B85, is it worthy? If not, I can go for B85.
2.
Cabinet: Is NZXT Gamma good? Is it really necessary to spend 4K+ for a cabinet? Can I rather spend saved money for extra fans?
3. PSU: Antec vs Seasonic? Since this is main power source, I wouldn't mind spending a little extra for most reliable power source.
4. RAM: Should I go for 2X4GB or 1X8GB? I won't practically ever need more than 16GB for my system in near future.

Get a 1x8GB and when the prices come down it can be upped to 16 or more.

I currently have 2x2GB in Laptop and 2X1GB in Desktop... and these go useless if i want to upgrade as no one wants to buy them. As they can spend few more bucks and get higher ones with warranty too :)

But on other hand 2x4GB has a some performance increase over 1x8GB.

And that's my opinion.

if you can find nzxt gamma, then get it . it is really good. else cooler master n300/n200 or betfenix merc alpha.
if you upgrade to 16gb , get single 8gb. that dual channel wont bring considerable improvements unless you run memory intensive benchmarks/softwares.

that was a bug and intel might have already updated the microcode to prevent the partial overclocking.

Okay, NZXT Gamma decided. :)

I'm not keen on overclocking anyways. The only advantage I felt H87 has is SRT, if that's not much useful, than B85 can work.

SeaSonic also final then. :)

For RAM even I'm of same opinion. Having 4X4GB at max shouldn't be a problem at all.

Sure, bargaining is fun.

As far as Mobo is concerned I am little stuck on whether to go for B85 and save 1.5K or go with H87. I am not sure about practical benefits of H87 over B85. Sorry for being persuasive about this question. :)

@op a few things about BigData setup with Hadoop Classic

I am running a Hadoop Cluster with 1 Desktop(Win7 x64 host with 8GB RAM) and a Laptop(Win 7 x64 host with 3 GB RAM) and all the VMs running Ubuntu. Hadoop Classic(no YARN) with PIG,HIVE ,MySQL.
- I have 1 NameNode running with 2 Cores with 2 GB RAM
- I have 3 DataNodes running with 1 Core with 1.5GB RAM each and 1 DataNode running with same config in the laptop

after starting all the Nodes I hardly have 1 GB RAM(physical) available for submitting tasks to the cluster.

So if you are running for just a learning setup then get any of the Xeon you have selected and get 12+ GB RAM. Also DataNodes requires a high disc bandwidth so mutiple physical discs would be better.

Wow! Thank you for such elaborate explanation. At the moment I can fit only 8GB in budget, plus I'll begin to learn BigData so I think 8GB should be good. I'll consider adding more RAM based on my learning and need. I have a 500GB spare disk with me so multiple disc problem should kind of not arise.
