Guys i need to change pppoe to bridge using telnet
i need this to do ip change as reboot(pppoe) takes a lot of time
and the dialer(bridge) is much better

heres the deal

SemIndia Systems ADSL Router
Login: admin
Password:
> wan

Usage: wan config <port.vpi.vci> [<connection id>]
[--protocol <bridge|pppoe|pppoa|mer|ipoa>] [--encap <llc|vcmux>]
[--vlan <vlan id>] [--state <enable|disable>] [--service <servicename>]
[--firewall <enable|disable>] [--nat <enable|disable>]
[--igmp <enable|disable>] [--qos <enable|disable>]
[--username <username> --password <password>]
[--pppidletimeout <timeout>] [--pppipextension <disable|enable>]
[--ipaddr <wanipaddress> <wansubnetmask]
[--ipaddr6 <wanipaddress6>]
[--dhcpclient <enable|disable>]
wan delete <port.vpi.vci> [<connection id>]
wan show [<port.vpi.vci>]
wan --help <bridge|pppoe|pppoa|mer|ipoa>
>
> wan --protocol bridge
wan: invalid option '--protocol'
now how do i change the protocol

how to access that option
what does "--" in '--protocol' mean

how does this work then
adsl --version
adsl --help
> adsl --version
adsl version 1.0
ADSL PHY: AnnexA version - A2pB025j.d22
>
> adsl version
adsl: invalid command

im making a script of this (to change back and forth between pppoe to bridge)
since i need bridge mode during night downloads

and pppoe for accessing wifi for my mobile

instead of all this why not try disabling/enabling WAN.it will work just like reboot but with lesser time.

thats what i did temporarily for some period
but when you re-enable adsl after disabling it..
you get connected and get a diff ip too
but for some unknown reason the browser doesnt display the page unless you reboot the modem

does not happen always...
just when the dsl light keeps blinking after enabling from a disabled adsl

when you connect it it either keeps blinking or gets connected (new ip address alloted) but cannot display page
confirmed by pinging google

DSL light has to be stable after blinking & only after then username/password authentication takes place.also what do you mean by page display confirmation by pinging google.did you mean google page was not opening in browser or you were trying modem setting page to ping?in either case DSL light has to be stable first followed by internet light indicating username/password accepted.
